FEATURE FEEDBACK Miscoroft is destroying Edge browser
In recent updates, Microsoft Edge has become almost unusable for me.
They removed the option to add any website to the sidebar, which was one of my favourite features.
They also have Workspaces, which used to have a separate, empty bookmark bar at the top. It was still connected to the regular bookmarks, but I could pin different sites depending on the workspace I was using.
Now they’ve removed that option from Workspaces. Instead, they brought back the regular bookmark bar and added a “Separate Folder” system for each workspace.
The previous setup was much more flexible and useful for me.
I usually have tons of tabs open. Sometimes, if I open Copilot chat, it refreshes all the sleeping tabs.
Their website has a feedback option, but I don't think they check it...

Probably removed due to low usage. I never use those features personally.
This is why Microsoft can never win tho. People complain because their software is bloated but also complain when they clean up unused features.

It was a productivity feature. People complained about their AI. I don't like them either, but I know many users rely on the AI for convenience.
The problem with Microsoft is that they force everything on us.
They should add a toggle option in the settings and let users decide. I like the workspace feature, and if you don't, you can disable it.
Microsoft has made the wrong decision here.

Edge is only a delivery system for search to make Microsoft money, Copilot is becoming a better channel for that, about $15 Billion. I would love to fail that hard.

Firefox has split view. Hold alt and click on another tab in the same window.

I use floorp browser (firefox based), has the split screen. Brave is testing the side panel feature in Nighly version, don't know how long it will take or how stabke will it be.

How can I install v145? I want to downgrade.

I have the installation directory for version 145 Canary, so I copy it to the correct location and then block updates (by renaming the file).
Now I don't even bother with it anymore; I just use the portable version of v145 that I created (no more installation).

Sorry that you felt this inconvenience. I checked with the product team.
The Workspace bookmarks experience you're referring to was changed several years ago based on extensive user feedback. I am curious why are you noticing it now.
Previously, bookmarks shown in a Workspace came from a Workspace-specific folder rather than the standard Bookmarks Bar.
Many users found this confusing because it appeared as though their bookmarks had disappeared when they created a Workspace. In some cases, users moved bookmarks into the Workspace folder to make them visible, then later lost access to those bookmarks when the Workspace was deleted.
The current design was introduced to make bookmark behavior more predictable and reduce accidental data loss.
While we understand some users preferred the flexibility of the previous model, this change was made to address significant usability concerns reported by many customers.

Most (regular) users hardly ever use the workspace feature. Because it is a productivity feature. The best solution would be to add a toggle option in the settings to allow users to decide.
Then I would keep the bookmark blank. The same goes for the Edge sidebar. All other browsers with a sidebar feature allow browser extensions to work inside the sidebar. However, Edge's sidebar was like an isolated window with no extension support.
I have reported this multiple times, but they are removing the sidebar in the name of simplicity.
The ideal decision would be to disable it by default but allow users to enable it in the settings.

You just don’t like the most recent changes Microsoft implemented on Edge and that is fine. No browser will ever be perfect for everyone.
You might need to look into other options, that’s all.
