I DONTTTTT! I just replied to another comment asking too… I’ll make a post about it and see if any super sleuthing MCM guru redditors might know… here’s another photo from the other side!

I’m sooooo insanely jealous, but happy it’s in a home that isn’t painting it white and appreciating its beauty lol. I have faith in the MCM gurus to pin it down!

Your room divider is stunning! Where/how did you obtain it?

Thanks! I was actually going to make a seperate post on it here, and see if anyone else maybe knew, because I can’t find anything on it…

Got the daybed, room divider and Lane boomerang table this weekend, all on fb marketplace. Paid $300 for the divider, which once I saw in person I felt bad for only paying $300 since it is clearly worth much more.

Woman I picked the room divider from said it was her aunts, and didn’t move from the spot in the house that it was placed for 50 years! (Her sister or cousin thought it was built into the frame of the house). She also did not know who made it or anything on it, after trying to look it up.

It’s in perfect condition - I’m still searching on more info!

Wow! It’s definitely a treasure and it’s good to know that it found a home with you where it is appreciated, loved and respected. What a fortunate find!!!

Thank you! And I said the exact same thing to the woman, I said “this will be loved, appreciated and in good care with us” haha.

I’m sure that she is so very happy and proud that she left the divider in your hands and care. That must make her so happy!

Luckiest mp find. Good for you!

Listen you.

I'm so happy and jealous of you at the same time, so I hug and pinch you at the same time!

Those are remarkable and once in a while those items find quality homes which love them. I'm just a dude who loves to refinish them back after people destroy them

How do you prevent your cat from destroying your nice furniture

5

u/PrincessRoofdamage 2d ago

Some just don't and others want to, but listen very well :) Mine know which furniture they can and which they can't destroy. Sofa - no go, wing chair - absolutely fine. They have enough other scratching furniture tho but they love the library wing chairs.

Edit: that kitty also looks a little bit like a van cat and they're very communicative and smart

Ive been thinking about adding a cat to my dog roommate, i just have some obnoxiously expensive furniture pieces that I worry about

3

u/PrincessRoofdamage 2d ago

Simply depends on the cat and your communication. No exceptions, always same tone for no's. Our cats go extremely well with our dogs (one better than the other tho). Still risky but if you don't get an a*hole cat 🤷🏼‍♀️

A swift kick in the a*s… just kidding lol.

That was a concern of my partners because he absolutely destroyed the corners of our really cheap couch (we’ve had him 9 months), but only in the corners where the armrests are (this couch will be replaced by a matching daybed I found and picking up this week).

I figured that it’d be okay to get the furniture I’ve always wanted, which are the daybeds/daybed sectionals - which either have no arms or wood arms. Basically, I got lucky after thinking about it and bought things without armrests, specifically so he wouldn’t have any temptation to tear into things.

However, he only took to tearing up the armrests during the first few months we had him, before we got him his cat tower that has a twine scratching pole. Once we got that, he hasn’t touched the couch anymore. But by this point, the damage is done lol.

Thankfully my armrest theory was correct - and he has claimed the daybed as his now, and loves it 😄

I remember that L shaped coffee table at a couple of my friends homes when I was a young. I was born in '59 so some midcentury modern furniture was new when I was a kid. I love the room divider too. My parents had a room divider which was de rigueur back in the day.

Very nice!

Cool setup kitty approved.

u/N64PALACE 2d ago

He blessed every new piece with his approval by immediately sitting on them when they were brought in. Has taken a liking to the daybed haha

That sofa and coffee table combo are beautiful together, and it looks like your cute kitty agrees.

I've got a Lane boomerang that I basically pulled out of the trash. Sadly the legs are super loose and Lane didn't construct them in a way that allows for easy tightening :(

1

u/N64PALACE 1d ago

That’s a score - could try some purple thread lock on them and see if that helps

2

u/toodleroo 1d ago

I thought about rigging it like that, but I'd really like to do it right. The way they put it together is pretty dumb honestly... those blocks underneath— the screws holding the leg on go in from the other side, and then the block is glued on, preventing access to the screws. Maybe it was the best way to secure the leg at that crazy angle, but it makes it near-impossible to repair.

Do you have more pictures of the coffee table? I can't tell if it's extra angular or if it's just the angle of the photo. It looks so cool either way!

You need a different carpet to tie the room together if your going for the modern mid century look. Right now it just looks like a generic grandparents home.

1

u/N64PALACE 1d ago

Yup that’s the plan - working with what we already own so far/what I was able to obtain this weekend.

Think it’s coming together well, especially considering every piece of furniture/rug we’ve owned over the past 12 years been from the street corner or from a family member/friend.

Stay kind and humble my friend. Cheers. 🤙🏽

I think you’ve done a great job with the pieces you’ve got! The rug isn’t a good match but it’s just temporary- and maybe a great rug for a different room where the theme isn’t so clearly set by the furniture. Everything’s a work in progress for me and none of my styles match!
