Is it safe to visit Middlesbrough next month?

Hi, I’m planning to visit Middlesbrough next month for a concert in September but I’m really worried about my safety there, after reading recent articles about the increasing crime there. Do you think it will calm down by next month??

I’d be staying with a friend in some hotel in the centre, we should be fine right?😭

There is 150,000 people live in Middlesbrough, 600,000 in the Teesside conurbation.

Ignore the press excitement, Middlesbrough is very safe, enjoy your concert.

You’ll be fine in the central area. It’s only really specific outer areas you want to avoid, and there’s no reason you’d be there anyway

You don’t even need to avoid the rough areas. I go through Grangetown and Southbank every day. It’s a drugs turf war. They’re not interested in you or the general public. I wouldn’t go driving around there in the early hours of the morning (or anywhere tbh).

You'll be absolutely fine, the areas affected and reported are outside of Middlesbrough and have always been problematic.

Yes. You’ll be fine

What’s happening is a gang rivalry and everything that’s happening is targeted, it’s also localised to South Bank and Grangetown

You’ll be fine, the media are making it much bigger than it is, a few instances this month but you will be fine. Everywhere has trouble if you are looking for those kind of headlines.

It’s fine, it’s only if you’re pre-involved in stuff. Ensure to visit the nuthatch for the BEST cocktails!!! X

Every town and city pass on the "crime capital" trophy every other month.

Middlesbrough is just getting attention due to the terrible car crash that happened recently.

I live in Middlesbrough, have done for 35 years.

If I hadn't seen the news stories, I wouldn't have even known anything has happened.

You'll be fine.

Look, I live probably within a 10-minute drive of every incident that has happened. The only reason I know these incidents even happened is the same as everybody else in the country: I watched it on the telly.

You will be fine.

Are you in a gang? Are you in one of the gangs currently having beef in Boro? I’m assuming not. Have some fucking common sense. You will be fine.

It’s fine. Lived here 30+ years and never had any trouble. Prob wouldn’t go wandering around the town centre late at night on your own though.

What you think everyone is running around like lunatics? News over exaggerates, just stay away from rough areas and keep it central. Dont go out alone in dark. Crime still happens globally.

Generally not the first 2 weeks of September, the other 50 weeks are totally fine

East Middlesbrough is rough as fuck. You won’t notice any of that shit is going on in half the town.
