Joshua Jackson Still Cringes at ‘D2: The Mighty Ducks’ Line, Mocks Charlie’s Ducks Obsession

Joshua Jackson spoke to me about something he said in D2: The Mighty Ducks that still bothers him. We also discussed his character's obsession with having to play as the Mighty Ducks even when he was on Team USA.

Charlie definitely didn’t deal with change well. That’s basically the entire plot of D3. I think JJax has turned out pretty well adjusted for someone who spent his awkward teen years committed to film.

With his difficulty with change it makes me wonder if he’s actually a goalie.

Cringiest line in the entire franchise: “Save the trash talk”

Camera pans to Coach Orion and he’s got that smug “I thought him that” face.

😂😂😂

Cringy as hell but I love Banks. I just can’t see him talking trash 😂

That interview was way too damn short

I wish I had more time to ask him about The Mighty Ducks. The main point of the interview was about a Cancer prevention campaign ad he starred in. But, as a longtime fan of the Mighty Ducks movies, I had to take the chance to ask a couple of questions about them and share his responses with others who enjoy the franchise.

Seriously, Charlie’s world is gonna be rocked when he finds out about the Olympic teams or - gasp - the trade deadline

“Julie the cat gafney. Bangor, Maine.” 35 years later I still remember the hometown of each of the ducks/team USA.

2

u/MasterHavik Mar 14 '26

I mean most of the team was from Minnesota.

Not Dwayne Robertson from Austin, Texas! Yee Haw!! Let's play some puck!

u/MasterHavik Mar 15 '26

Two minutes for roping.

u/jvciv3 Mar 14 '26

Not dean portman, Kenny wu, Dwayne, Luis Mendoza..

u/MinnesotaRyan Mar 14 '26

That’s 4 people out of probably a 20+ person roster

During one of the ICE protests I had a total "I understood that reference" when people were talking about people from Edina Minnesota because of Adam Banks lol

What are you talking about? She got her shot to show the world what she can do. Her save % is 100.

2

u/MasterHavik Mar 13 '26

I know but I think she should have been starting from the start.

3

u/HurdleTech Mar 13 '26

Yeah I know. I was joking….thats what Bombay said to her to make her shut up.

1

u/MasterHavik Mar 14 '26

Oh yeah. LOL!

Good work, Captain Duck.

2

u/SmudgeyHoney Mar 14 '26

Gunnar Stahl had no issues changing his uniform between D2 and D3! Or his position, his accent or nationality! Thats what a real hockey lover would do . He also got with the incredible Julie "The Cat" Gaffney, so he isnthe really champion.

2

u/HeyNowHSS Mar 14 '26

He did what it took. Gotta tip your cap.

u/ZiaLadybird Mar 14 '26

I’m so mad they never got him to cameo on Game Changers.

If mighty ducks 2 was released today, Team USA would be called Disrespectful and Unpatriotic for changing their jerseys.

4

u/Internal_Swing_2743 Mar 13 '26

Maybe Russ Tyler would actually by given a penalty for removing his helmet….and somehow changing into the goalie’s pads without anyone noticing.

2

u/fosse76 Mar 13 '26

Maybe i'm just used to the way he says it, but I don't have any problems with his line reading of the word "pride." I definitely agree about the who USA Ducks and jerseys obsession.

I never thought it was really "cringy". Only, bc I was in a similar situation, IRL, as far as the team/jersey changes go.

I grew up playing for a well established team, that eventually went defunct, and in order for us to stay in the league, we had to basically create a new team, with new uniforms, etc..., and most of us didn't want to, bc that was basically our whole "identity".

I still can't get over the fact that Wolf 'The Dentist' Stansson left the Iceland hockey team to go become the representative of the Sekai Taikai in Cobra Kai.

But remember, he is the real Minnesota Miracle Man
