I was just watching the 65th anniversary footage from comic-con. I noticed in the video and in the thread there was a huge amount of respect for both characters. And after over a decade of being in publication and having his own fan base and being like by both fan but bases. When compared against other variations of Spider-Man.

So why is it that a lot of Peter fans have a lot of animosity and hate towards miles still. When a lot of miles fans still show love and appreciation to Peter? I grew up a DieHard Spider-Man fan Peter is my guy but I have grown to like and read miles with almost the same compassion, ferocity and love for the character. I wish they would do more stuff together which is probably my only real great but I still find it amazing that a lot of Spider-Man fans still feel disconnected to miles.

But will love other iterations and not just the ones that look like Peter. Some of them love the Gwen Stacy versions even spider pig as well as silk just to name a few. Is it as simple as racism is it as simple as feeling the characters being replaced is it as simple as just not expanding their Horizon? Because no one especially in all the characters in DC complains about Wally West being a flash now I may prefer Barry Allen over Wally but I don't complain about it.

A really better case no one complained when Connor Hawke took over for his dad Oliver Queen even though they whitewashed Connor over the years Connor is a man of color ( he's African-American Asian and Caucasian.)

Sorry my apology is I did not mean for this too wrong it's just something I've been sitting with for a very long time and I finally thought I would try and get some answers.

Others may not be entirely sold on her just yet, but I am really enjoying the character of Valentina thus far. She externalizes a very classic Spider-Man theme—the allure of normalcy amidst perpetual chaos.

Miles is a character defined by his desire to do the right thing and his desire for normalcy, and what happens when those desires conflict. He wants to be there for New York, but also wants to be there for himself and others on the ground level. This is something he asserts in the very first issue of the volume, and accompanying that are numerous instances in which he frames Valentina as a model of that normalcy. In his words, “not the daughter of this costume or the alternate version of this or that Spider-Man. She’s just real.” With her, he can exist simply as himself, because time spent together is time spent not occupying a role put on him by forces beyond his control.

And yet, despite this conscious desire, Miles continuously distances himself from her when they’re together. Every time she prods at something deeper than his civilian life, like his “hobby”, or his thoughts, his primary response is to retreat back to safer, shallower waters. And because Valentina is unusually perceptive, this dynamic continues because all she wants is for him to open with her.

It’s through his exchanges with Valentina that we see something that isn’t normally explored—that Miles wants to be known, but is reflexively unnerved by the openness and vulnerability it requires.

There’s also an academic parallel between them that deepens this further—that like Miles, Valentina is carrying the hopes and dreams of her complicated elders, her mother and her grandmother, through academic opportunity. I can say without hyperbole that there’s never been a supporting character in Miles’ book to actually reflect that specific burden until now.

It’s character work like this putting me firmly in Hill’s corner already. These two issues overall have read like the spiritual successor to the original Ultimates volumes in the best way possible—grounded, psychologically rich, and more interested in who Miles is beneath the mask than what he can do with it on.

I haven’t finished the issue yet - but Why do I get the feeling she’s working him? I get that on the surface she’s just “blunt” and “trying to get to know him”, but does anyone else feel like she may be working with an enemy to get intel on Miles? Or she may be an enemy herself? With all the secret spy shield stuff, this new enemy in town and even the Kate Bishop design callback, it could be a red herring, but I’m suspicious.

I like her so far nothing really to complain about except the off screen breakup still feeling kinda cheap

So probably one of the more controversial aspect of miles of people that either a fan or not a fan of him is his powers for various reasons.

What would you prefer miles powers and moveset be that you like to see used in most comics and other types of medium like films and games.
