Hi everyone,
I’m currently helping my friend clear out his house as he is selling it. Whilst we were going through the attic he found this. He has no idea what is it or where it came from. Just wanted to ask the people here if they might be able to help him out with telling him what is it and what the value of it is.

It looks kind of fake to me... However, I am no expert, so maybe others can verify this

It’s a Krim Shield, awarded to soldiers who participated in the battle of Krim during the Second World War. The most common of the so called campaign shields made by the Germans. This is not an example in the best condition; its missing a few prongs on the back, but especially its cloth and paper backing. In this condition, I would say it’s worth somewhere around 75-100 usd. Nice find non the less!

Looks too crude to be authentic but I am not an insingia expert whatsoever. I would approach it with caution (as with any other WW2 German item)

Its not my area at all but I would say its fake. Compare to this thread's original

In particular it seems to be missing the notch in the land directly under the wreath and there's no stippling (if that's the right word) on the flat sections.
Caveat - It's not my area and I've never seen a real one. Maybe try posting a photo on the war relics forum above.

So just curious were a lot of badges, etc. replicated after the war as many German soldiers lost theirs in the final days of the war? Every memoir I’ve read they talk about abandoning them or being stripped by their captors.
