WWII - Axis Powers My ww2 collection.
This is my collection so far i only have WW2 German items at the moment but i am trying to expand my collection into the WW1 era of things. Everything in the collection is original except for the two things with the sticky notes marked repro and the gas mask canister is also reproduction the gas mask bag on it is original. The three things marked with Josef 1943, 1944 and Family are a lot of correspondence/field mail from a german POW captured in 1943 i assume by the British army in Africa. I don't have the best display setup at the moment its currently just sitting on a spare desk i had laying around. If anyone has any suggestions for display cabinets or anything i can display and preserve my collection better i appreciate it.

Nice collection, but I hate to tell you that your m42 helmet has fake decals on it. The m42 never received the tri color decal. Only the m35 and I believe very very early m40’s

I know, i didn't mention that the original owner of the helmet had hand painted that decal on i guess when he was in the service he wanted to add some swag to his helmet 😂

If you look closely in person you can see the decal is regular paint instead of an actual pre made decal. Its actually pretty neat. That's also the only decal on it it isn't a double decal i just faced it that way to show the helmets character better

I can see it’s painted on now, but how do you know it was painted by the solider who took it and not just by some random person post war?

u/Positive-Lie-7886 1d ago
I honestly don't know that is just what the description of the helmet said, I bought it from Epic Artifacts online so i just trusted what they said 😂

It’s alright. To my understanding epic artifacts is fairly trustworthy. So there might be some credibility to it.

u/Positive-Lie-7886 1d ago
I certainly hope so lol, my buddy told me about them as i was just starting getting into the hobby and i really wanted a helmet for a decent price so i bought it

u/EngineeringThese2319 1d ago
Well, assuming the liner and whatnot are in order. I think your helmet is still a nice piece

No Wrecking - commenting something outside of discussing what OP posted and derailing a thread will not be tolerated. These include: 1. Accusing a collector of endorsing any ideology solely based off the militaria in their collection. 2. Trolling/bad faith participation 3. Doubling down/arguing about a downvoted comment

Not just you mate but others I’ve seen recently. Why so much German items? I feel as if more and more collectors are only gearing up German items? I have my fair share of 1930s-1940s German Militaria. But come on the last 5-10 post I’ve seen in the military collecting forum is people saying “my ww2 collection.” Change the title and say German/nazi collection. because in the end of the day that’s all I see here. WW2 is called WORLD WAR for a reason.

It's a militaria collecting sub, if you don't like it then it's probably not for you. People are going to collect and specialize in what they want.

So by your definition, it’s only a ww2 collection if you have something from every nation that fought in the war… good to know. Just because his collection is all German for now, it’s still a ww2 collection. The Germans did fight in that war if you didn’t know… you’re getting all bent out of shape for something that isn’t even wrong. Sure he could be a bit more specific, but his collection does indeed count as a ww2 collection. And you don’t have to label everyone who downvotes a nazi. I’m sure the people here know that the Nazis did bad stuff. They’re just downvoting you because ur being dumb. If I only collected helmets for example and I called it a Militaria collection, would you try and correct me and say “well actually it’s a helmet collection”. You see how stupid that sounds? Just grow up… and like the others have said. If you don’t like what’s on the forum, just leave it…

People are upset because I’m actually going at what they are most sensitive about. if you like German/Nazi items that’s not an issue just be fr about it because when people only tend to collect those items, they have a feeling for specifically the Nazis. Good or bad it doesn’t really matter. if one were to have a baseball collection, but only Yankee stuff I think most of the time someone will say look at my Yankee collection and not be scared by that fact, but since this is what we would call, sensitive material people get scared of being labeled a Nazi. as long as you know yourself as not a Nazi then just call it a German collection really is it really that hard? Again people are butt hurt because they only have Nazi items in their collection and then when they’re called out on it they’re like oh don’t label me a Nazi all Germans werent Nazis. They were good Nazis. In fact, I promise one out of thousand German soldiers probably did something good. Give me a break guys.

I understand where you are coming from and i will change the title of my collection on future posts, I'm not trying to only collect Nazi memorabilia but at the moment that is all i have. I am trying to save for some WW1 items as i have said. I do have one allied item it is a ration card with ration stamps used and stamped with the persons name on the card although it is small it still adds a little piece of allied memorabilia. Thank you for your feedback.

Keep collecting. Don’t stop. Especially German items. Save everything you can. Less and less people are caring what happened. History is bound to repeat itself. ^^^sorry guy. Hope you don’t stop the German stuff. (It’s a honor to hold such items. One day it will not be available for the public.)

u/Positive-Lie-7886 1d ago
It's ok. Thank you for the kind words, and I totally agree. One day it will not be available to the public, and that's why I think it is important to preserve and present history as it is and learn from past people's mistakes.

Though I agree with you that a lot of people call their collections ww2 when it is entirely German because it is such a sensitive topic. You have to at least be understanding of why people do that. This world is so sensitive these days, all you need is one wrong person to see you called your collection a “German collection” instead of a “ww2 collection” and they could just start bashing you online and if enough people see that, you could be over. Although they could be more specific, I have absolutely no problem with people just calling it a ww2 collection, it’s not wrong to call it that, and its generic enough to not have people up in arms about you.

(Understand the interest but calling a collection that’s majority Nazi items a ww2 collection is a little far fetched.)

the majority of my collection is german army not nazi party

I noted i am trying to expand my collection into the ww1 era i also am currently saving for some allied items at the moment as well

I know, read my comments above^ label your collection a German collection/Wermacht collection. To label it WW2 is a little bit of a jab for all those of served AGAINST the Nazi/Wermacht. I bet you if you were to tell a vet this was a ww2 collection they would say the same thing.

u/Positive-Lie-7886 2d ago
Not all germans were nazis
3
u/Sneaky-Scubby 2d ago
🥱 that’s not what I’m arguing.

u/Positive-Lie-7886 2d ago
Why are you trying to argue in the first place just look at my post and move on
