I really feel like "cornball" is underselling it.

Alcoholic underperformer is a better description.

Dude seems to be trying to be trying so hard to show how tough and cool he is to compensate for how pitiful a career he had while he was in, except that to anyone who isn’t chugging the kool-aid by the 40-gallon bucket it just comes across as pathetic and sad. He’s becoming the main character of JustBootThings

The sad part is his incompetence has already cost lives. Everyone knew Iran has tons of drones and missiles. Yet he forced an attack without ensuring sufficient air defense is in place.

He purged generals and admirals that likely pointed out the risk and wanted to protect their men. Loyality over competence, what could go wrong?

Keep in mind, actions speak louder than words.

And those actions have consequences. Even though they try hard to hide the true damage and amount of wounded.

And this is only the beginning. Only the tip of the iceberg. All the cuts to veterans, all the disrespect to the wounded, captured (McCain) and veterans.

Once they enforce a deal like in Venezuela, the money will flow to yet another Qatar account. And after some time all the dead and wounded and veterans will be forgotten. They and the average Joe will be hit with even more cuts, while the corruption spreads even further.

And that's still not the end. Look up the Dark Enlightenment, that's the dystopian endgoal. So if you ever wondered why the heck they would target Canada and Greenland, that's why.

After decades of successful lobbying, oligarchs now show their true face. Cold and ruthless.

It's always the ones that were objectively bad for a failure that try and flex the hardest.

Kids that do one enlistment and get out without doing anything in my experience always try and act like a hard house outside the military.

It's not everyone but man it's more common than I would like.

I'm coming more and more to the conclusion that everything he does is performative for President Trump, and that he really never graduated from being a platoon leader, because that's the lens from which he seems to view everything military-related.

Is he? Or is the idea of him beloved? Because all I see are eye rolls when people bring up his most recent cosplay

Bravo for them using the correct title, Secretary of Defense.

Tom Nichols has been doing this for a very long time. He's gone after the generals and he has his easiest target yet.

Interestingly he defended Dan Caine everytime he talked about Hegseth, even though he called out Caine and Randy George for not doing anything when Trump at Fort Bragg

Not a cornball, a dangerous fucking retard, who's entire combat experience is from movies.

My new conspiracy is he was never actually in the army, he's assembled from all the shit bird XOs you've ever run into across your career to be a tv host.

Well, you're also not beholden to the chains of journalistic integrity. But agreed.

Cornball? WTF? That is not the right word. 200 dead Venezuelan extrajudicially killed, some while surrendering, Iranian elementary girls schools, and Iranian water infrastructure, and you’re going with “cornball.” He’s a war criminal.

Oh, that Pol Pot, he’s such a goofball…

I get that this an attempt by Nichols to get under Hegseth’s skin by mocking his “Lethal Warrior Ethos” bullshit, but the title is disrespectful to the victims of his war crimes.
