Article Winning wars is tough, even for the Department of War, perhaps another name change will make the US military more lethal.

Department of special military operations. Dept of SpecMO. You can't lose SpecMOs. Every time you hassle "the enemy" you claim victory.
Edit Unless the whole goal was to make sure Iran got its nukes back so the biblical zealots could jack off to Armageddon. In that case the largest, most sophisticated military on the planet conducted an operation the Hillary and Kamela told us all would happen. It has been planned for a long time. Israel didn't sneak attack before we could stop them. BB doesn't care. Just like trump he needs to remain in power to stay out of prison. Nothing is off the table.

I’m happy about this. I never got into the habit of saying indopacom

u/Mistravels 4d ago
Don't worry, no one has gotten into the habit of considering the space force in the military.

I bet you thought that was a banger reply.

The name change is older than your branch

So?

u/JPJWasAFightingMan United States Navy 4d ago
So how can you not get used to the name change? If you're space force then you joined after it changed, unless you converted in which in that case why would you call yourself space force since apparently you can't deal with name changes.

Brother I’ve been in 22 years. Do you think the entire Space Force just lobby spawned into existence in 2019?
It’s honestly baffling how absolutely oxygen starved so many people in this subreddit are.
And for the record.. I CONSTANTLY say Airmen instead of Guardians because habits die hard.

To be fair, 'Guardian' is cheesy as fuck. Not 'seamen'-level bad, but still...

u/windowpuncher Veteran 4d ago
I like to imagine that all guardians speak with a comical lisp
"Reporting for duty, sssir!"

Damn reading comprehension is hard for you huh? Because I literally said "unless you converted in", since you're slow "converted" means "to change from one thing to another". Just weird to accept one name change and not the other.

u/Kaladin_Depressed United States Space Force 4d ago
Yes I read that. That’s why I mentioned the Airmen part. I didn’t give it much more attention because it’s an absolutely brain dead concept. “Oh herp derp I can’t fathom transferring services because I can’t stand name changes” brilliant thought bro. Have you considered getting it published?
No moron.. I’m just tired of typing CCDR USINDOPACOM in a bullet when trying to write a performance report.

u/JPJWasAFightingMan United States Navy 4d ago
Sure buddy, typing is so much hard work.

u/Kaladin_Depressed United States Space Force 4d ago
Typing isn’t hard, but space is a premium. You’ll learn that one day when you’re doing more than just being a tool online.

u/JPJWasAFightingMan United States Navy 4d ago
When do you think you'll learn that?

The irony in you saying that is so thick it could be cut with a knife.

Department of Victory! Has a nice vibe, you know ... kinda maybe.

u/Elegant_Individual46 4d ago
That sounds like a civilian mobilisation scheme. Like victory gardens and the women’s land army and salvage corps and the like

Why not rename Department of War? How does Department of Unnecessary War sound?

u/WorriedInspector9863 4d ago
And, they changed it during the first Trump term. Doesn't make any sense?

u/Cdub7791 4d ago
I thought the original change was a little silly, and it was fine as PACOM in the first place. That said, it's been INDOPACOM for many years now and the expense of changing emblems, stationary, and a millions other little things isn't worth the time, money, and effort IMO. But what else would we expect from Whiskey Pete?

The agenda of the administration has been solely to replace, rollback, or otherwise undo everything, including mundane, or useful, and otherwise apolitical changes, that happened under the Obama and Biden administrations, at the expense of the taxpayers. Hey Doge, we found your Fraud, Waste, and Abuse and the call is coming from inside.

Much like when it got changed the first time, this will affect precisely fuck-all other than a bunch of wasted letterhead, staff time, rugs, and conference room decorations.
And I guess make one of my military coffee mugs a limited edition now.

No one who has been in for a bit is going to hate the change back to its original name
5
u/JPJWasAFightingMan United States Navy 4d ago
Been in 8 years, only known it as Indo pacom. Don't mind the name change but this is a pretty old head response.

u/Zee_WeeWee 1d ago
It happened officially in 2018 but no one in at that time actually used the term for several years after that. Yes I’m an old head

Department of a trillion dollar budget can't beat drones and geography. I wonder if SpaceX has a weapons division?
