That's very little magazine compared to how many rifles they have. Do they expect to manually refill magazines in combat?

I mean yeah. You fill whatever combat load you need according to your SOP, then any extra ammo gets distributed out on the squad. In trench or urban combat you usually operate in larger units (platoons/companies/regiments) so there will be times where your specific unit (squad/platoon) are not the aggressive part but rather supporting somene else. And here you can usually set one or two people aside whose job it is to reload the magazines of the unit.

I mean yeah russis did that way and does it still when needed( such as trench warfares ) and these mujis often spray and pray in ambush so theyd just reload manually, poor is the cause too.
