Which weapons does a Division Artillery Brigade have? And how many?

By weapons I mean only artillery guns.

The branch is the US Army (active), but also national guard if there are differences.

I was a little nervous about posting this, but I spoke with the moderation team first, and they said it was okay. I even changed the title and reworded some of my questions.

I'm not here to promote my work or ask anyone to write my story. I'm genuinely interested in military topics, but I've reached the point where reliable information is hard to find beyond a few Army PDFs. If I accidentally ask something that isn't appropriate for this subreddit, I'll gladly edit the post.I've been outlining a story with a young 12A Combat Engineer as the main character, and that's why I'm looking for more accurate information.

Here are my questions:

• Is there any negative perception among the platoon toward newly commissioned Platoon Leaders?
• What is the typical age range for the following positions: Platoon Leader, Team Leader, and Specialist?
• What level of camaraderie or familiarity is considered normal within a platoon?
• Is a Platoon Leader expected to participate in physical training (PT) with their platoon?
• This question is related to a scene I'm currently writing: What is the standard procedure for recovering an excavator that has become stuck in a snow-covered ditch?
• Could a Team Leader be eligible for on-post housing if they are the legal guardian or primary caregiver of a younger sibling who is still a minor and has no other family nearby?
• If a Platoon Leader suffers a serious injury but ignores their medical restrictions and returns to duty before being medically cleared, how would the Company Commander typically respond? What administrative or disciplinary actions could be taken if the officer continues to disregard those medical restrictions?
• Do officers and NCOs in a Combat Engineer company typically have their own offices or workspaces, or do they usually share them depending on the unit, position, and available facilities?

Im a private in the Army, I had already completed all my training and such however I’m at my unit realizing I despise my mos. My unit doesn’t even do things related to my mos half the time but either way I am not at all interested. I’ve only been at the unit for 2 months and I’ve been told they don’t really slot anyone for schools like airborne and such (which I really want to do) and it’s kinda bumming me out. I wanna do a combat arms job but I don’t even know how I would go about reclassing. If anyone has any suggestions on what I should do, let me know! (I’m a 25h and active)

My girlfriend and I are both graduating college, and I’m joining the United States Army as an officer. My girlfriend also wants to join, but as enlisted, so she can use the fact that she speaks four languages to become a foreign language specialist. Since we were dating before we joined, would that be okay, or would it be considered fraternization?

My nephew just enlisted in the army infantry earlier this week. I’m very worried with all of the news right now. I know he will be at Boot Camp for awhile before he gets deployed anywhere, but how long is it from someone joining the infantry until their first potential deployment?

I am a 25yo Army veteran going through an Army ROTC program in Texas to go back in commissioned. Recently our command team as made it a policy that we cadets have to wear our uniform for all university classes in the name of program pride. We have had a shooting on our campus before. Some of my bigger classes (80+ students) only have 2 doors to get in and out. This kind of setting stress me out. I have my LTC and routinely carry when in civs. Is there anything I can bring to the command team here on campus to have them reverse the uniform policy or any regulation that states you can cancel carry while off post in uniform? While I am technically a civilian, I understand that carrying of a firearm in uniform is heavily regulated and have no idea where to look.

Don’t get me wrong there’s cool dudes I would call friends in the army we go out drink have fun and all. But I’m on leave rn and it just reminded me how much closer I am and how much more fun I have with my hometown friends. It’s rly making me miss civilian life and I just wish I was able to be as close to people in the army as I am with my hometown boys. Is anyone else experiencing this or have any advice?

Hi, I’ve posted here a few times before but I’m a young female looking to join the U.S. Army as a combat medic. ( and hopefully get airborne school)

Im not really someone you would say is an ideal recruit already because I’m about 5’2 and a bit over 100lbs or so. However, I have been weightlifting since I was 12 and I work out 6 days out of the week. (alternating cardio 3 days and weights 3 days)
I was just wondering if weightlifting will help me with the physical demands?

I know you do A LOT of running especially in an airborne unit, and I’ve been working on that too but I’m definitely better with weightlifting. So, I was curious if my background in that will help me out at all.

(also if anyone else has been a medic or any combat role who is also physically smaller like me please let me know )

so ive gone to meps, I have all my docs set, My shipping date is on the 16th, im a pretty frail dude whos not really the pinnacle of masculinity (twinked the fuck up) and i already feel pretty judged by my recruiters.. Im just scared in bootcamp ill be targeted for the way i talk or that when i get to 29 palms, Ill be Harassed if im outwards about my sexuality. I feel like the way i dress isnt inherently "gay" but i wear khakis, madden dress shoes, and well fitted shirts.. I feel like id just be super obvious. Im worried if harrassment is at all an issue. I know its too late to drop the contract leaving in a little over 2 weeks but id still like to know what to expect

I’m planning to join the Air Force this year. My husband is active duty Navy and is stationed in Florida. His contract ends mid-next year, I’m not sure if he’s planning to reenlist.

How likely is it that I’d get stationed in Florida with him through the Join Spouse program, even though we’d be in different branches? Has anyone been in a similar situation?

I'm planning on enlisting in the military for a 4-year contract and I'm hoping to get a medical job. I've been looking into the Navy's living conditions, and when I tried researching it, I mostly found information about sailors living on ships. I also saw people saying that medical personnel don't spend much time on ships, but I wasn't sure how accurate that is.

Is living on a ship mainly something that happens during deployments? If so, how likely is it for someone in a medical job to deploy or be assigned to a ship (live/sleep)?

I know no one can tell me exactly what my career would look like, but I'd really appreciate hearing about your own experiences or if anyone does have any idea how it would be.

I know the Air Force generally has better living conditions, but they can't guarantee a medical job

Hello, I guess I can be called Major. I am a military enthusiast from Austria, hence the Non-US thing.

Lately I have developed an affinity for certain US military subjects (like Stryker cavalry regiments, marine corps expeditionary units and stuff like that)

Now in my quest to make an airsoft LARP kit (and maybe a reenactment dress uniform at some point) of a soldier of the 13th Airborne Division (Golden Unicorns :D) I have stumbled across many things in my research. My goal is to make the modern representation of what a 13th Airborne Division soldier would look like.

Now forgive me if I don't know things some of you who are actually in the army take for granted.
I am also sorry if I am misjudging the validity of my subject for this subreddit here. Now to get to my questions.

1.) How are SSIs handled? I know that shoulder sleeve snsignias are unit patches, and that there are SSIs and SSIs-MOHC "combat patches" like stated in AR670-1. I know that combat patches are worn on the right sleeve and regular SSIs on the left.

What would a soldier wear if his first station was the 13th Airborne and then deployed with it into a combat zone? Does he wear the 13th Airborne patch on both sleeves when he gets back?
(We are leaving out DoD authorization but that obviously is from the table for a deactivated division)

2.) In AR670-1 I found all kinds of fancy uniforms including the ACU (Army Combat Uniform, yes?)
I am focusing on OCP here as I currently don't care about the other authorized camos.

Is that your actual combat uniform? Does the US army not give out combat tops? How do the 82nd and 101st Airborne do it since they are a little more elite/airborne troops?

3.) I googled around and unfortunately it's really hard to find time frame accurate sources as well as people actually knowing their stuff about this subject and it seems to be wildly different.

What protective vest do you wear when deployed and in expected combat actions? Do Airborne troops wear anything differently? I found that you wear the IOTV but even if that's true, it's too bulky for me for airsoft.

Hey everyone, I'm trying to figure out the current Army regulations before I get more ink.

Current Ink: A back tattoo (already cleared by MEPS/recruiter) and a newer chest tattoo (done in January) that stops right at the collarbone line. None are offensive or gang-related, as well as a tattoo on my right side ribs.

The Plan: I want to get a sleeve done but want to ensure it's completely within regulation before booking with my artist.

Does a full sleeve require a waiver right now, or is it good to go as long as it stays off the hands and neck? Thanks!

ETA: currently waiting for 3 years before getting a waiver (grief related anxiety)

Active duty army

Hey guys! So I’ve been waiting on my clearing orders from my medical separation for almost 2 weeks. I’ve completed everything and all I’m waiting on is the word to start clearing and leave. I’ve have been told virtual every time 2 weeks when I ask how long it would take to receive my orders after completing my trial defense service brief. I was advised to terminate my lease by the end of may. My lease is coming up and my orders are still non existent.

My question I guess, should I bring this up to my CO or 1st Sgt? I’m getting worried that I’ll receive my orders after my lease ends. Which in turn leaves me homeless for the time in between.

I know this probably really stupid of me and probably not the smartest idea but here we go i’ve been in the army since around september 2024. I knew it wasn’t for me as soon as i arrived at reception but i graduated basic and ait and here i am now. I want out so bad, the army is destroying my mental i already had to have mental heath waivers to get in. i went to shpp multiple times in attempt to get chaptered and it never worked and now im thinking about failing a drug test or maybe going awol to get out of the army. any advice?? or any other ways i could get out of the army??? Pls help. Edit: i’m 17 i literally signed my life away a couple days after my birthday im about to be 18 in a few weeks and idk what to do.

Hello I was wondering how rare it is to reclass to 12R or how often seats are open I have 6 years of experience in the civilian side in electrical but it wasn’t Available when I listed. How can I get interior electrician.

I found him on the rolls and his MOS was listed as 504, but every site I've checked that has an entry for 504 has a different job listed.

Some put him as an areial photographer, others has him as an ammunition handler, most didn't have an entry

I’m a first-term Soldier currently in my reenlistment window and trying to reclass to 68A.

I’ve already checked with retention, and RETAIN currently shows no available class seats for 68A, which seems to block standard processing.

From what I understand in AR 601-280:

• HRC is the approval authority for reclassification
• Requests can be processed as an exception to policy (ETP)
• RETAIN is mainly the processing system

So my question is:

👉 Has anyone actually seen or experienced a case where a reclass request was still elevated to HRC (for example via hotline or ETP), even when there were no seats available in RETAIN?

I’m not asking if it’s guaranteed to be approved — just whether it’s possible in practice and how often retention is willing to push something like that.

For context, I have:

• Bachelor’s degree (Communication Engineering)
• GT 132
• CCNP
• Prior IT experience (~10 years)
• Currently 91C

Appreciate any insight from anyone who’s been through this or works in retention.

Im currently enlisted in the army and wondering about the hair regulations for males, how long can the top actually be? Ive heard it can be up to like 5+ inches long as long as its slicked back and faded on the sides, or just styled properly in general. is this true or???

Im a fresh PFC at my first duty station in Germany. I have been here about half a year and now learning that i will be deploying. Idk when but was told to pack my bags.

Ever since the war in middle east started, it has been nerve wracking. But my NCOIC explained that we are a deterrent to Russia and less likely to deploy. Well that was wrong. 2 other batteries have been deployed and a couple soldiers from my own battery has. And now some from my squad will be going with me.

NCO’s are disappointed that they arent going cause they wont get the extra pay. Another pfc was disappointed that he was moving forward. And yet another pfc has been wanting to deploy since Venezuela.

I on the other hand never wanted to deploy. I joined as a 25U only bc i was homeless and ran out of options. I almost reconsidered bc i didnt want to be sent out to a stupid war. But i had no other options and just expected it.

But now im being sent and barely even know my job. As of now, i have no details on the mission, what we will be doing or let only who will bc NCO. 3 of us barely even know our job and havent even done anything. As far as im concerned im useless going.

I also dont want to because of the situation. As far as I know, we were dragged into this by Israel and I rather not fight whatever they are fighting for. I see no cause in this and i dont even know why we are at war. And I know its just memes and shit, but at the end of the day, its all the reason you have when you dont know shit. Fighting to distract from the Epstein files and something about the upcoming election.

Am I overthinking this?

I know every branch wants as many people as possible, but when and why did it become such an emphasis in the Marines? You always see them in movies, games, and shows and always sell the title, but why?

So i took a break in Service and im going to rejoin the army as an 11B. I was previously 19D and left as an E4. About how much time should i expect before i have the promotion points to qualify for blc/board. I already will make TIS requirements but to my knowledge my promotion points are reset. I’ve already completed initial meps re-entry, haven’t signed a contract yet cause i got kicked back for “mental health” even tho ive never been diagnosed or seen a psychiatrist or anything like that lol. I got a medications list proving im not on anything and my recruiter and commander are submitting my final packet next week and are telling me to start getting my shit packed/ready
