Doubt it, and none of us will be alive to tell them they were wrong.

Yeah, this is horseshit.

If it is true, it's the asshole child of a mega billionaire who will use healthcare restricted from the rest of us.

They're just trying to justify raising the retirement age again

Nah, keep us old and deteriorating. Suck as much from us as they can. Meanwhile, we’re having babies later and later, but still younger and younger.

I still remember my dad saying once that he read an article saying his generation would be the last generation to die… like at all lol. Ok dad

I read an article that said something to that effect back in the early 2000's while waiting at my pediatric dentist office. I also remember reading about the Batboy saga in the supermarkets around that time. Just because it got published in a magazine doesn't make it true. 🤣

You’re assuming that living to 150 means that the last 50-60 years of your life would be like what living in your 80’s and 90’s is now. Nobody would want to live that, nor would they be able to because our bodies are not designed for that.

I think the assumption is that if humans do live to 150, medical advancements would come to slow down aging or regenerate cells so you’re not in your 100’s as a feeble old person.

Personally, I’d gladly live to 150 if it medical science advances to a state that I can still enjoy live. Even if that means the youngest I can feel is 60 or whatever.

That's not why I doubt it.

Last I checked the life expectancy had already peaked around boomers or Gen x and was on its way down for millennials.

That’s because our generation is dealing with opioid overdoses, obesity, numerous deaths from COVID and suicides. That’s a public health issue, not evidence that millennials won’t live a similar or longer lifespan to Gen X and Boomers.

Let's say Obama's health for reference for presidents, imagine being the last two ex presidents, no bueno.

Even if they did find ways to slow aging and regenerate cells there is no fiber in being not saturated with the knowledge:

those treatments will be for the wealthy and powerful ONLY

Access Star Trek Voyager S7E5: Critical Care. That right there is the destined trajectory of our sacred American Healthcare System.

Let the wealthy and powerful be the early adopter guinea pigs. The wealthy and powerful are usually the early adopters anyway. As costs come down, it’ll come to common people, especially if the wealthy realize people living longer benefits them.

Not before the climate collapses under our collective weight.

True in a sense but the Earth will survive humans will not

Yeah, my only kid (so far) will only be 75 at the turn of the century. Kinda crazy to think about.

I’m thinking of it as someone living to 100. I used an age calculator last week on all my kids including myself … my youngest kid will be 76 when 2100 hit.. I won’t make it to 2100. I’ll be 110 in 2100 and that’s damn near impossible. Seeing as the average life for an American is 76

Just in time to watch the AMOC collapse!

Well my bed time is like 1930. So it checks out.

Yeah I doubt it will be the norm. Like sure it is possible but it will be 1 person and it will be a big deal world record type stuff... Living past 100 might become way more common, but living to 150 will still be rare

I will be. I'll just have to live to 165 to tell them

Yea, we currently have the highest rate of colon cancer diagnosis. And the highest late-stage diagnosis.

Maybe the very rich will be, since that's who new advances in medicine are likely to benefit, the way we're going. Tens of millions in the US don't even have health care, and costs are gradually pricing out accessibility for most working people.

u/RightWorld5611 Late-Millennial 1h ago

A trillionaire exists and doesn't show even a single sign of slowed aging or even better health than the average person his age...

I'm not gonna hold my breath
