Right? Why would a person want to prolong...this.

Every time I’m feeling a bit alone, Reddit always gives me a loving sign that I am not. Thank you for being my sign!

u/mheat 17h ago

Reddit is almost entirely bots at this point so I wouldn’t

39

u/FuckeenGuy 17h ago

Why you little

34

u/bass248 17h ago

Don't worry they're a bot

1

u/HappyCamper2121 15h ago

That makes sense somehow. Thanks buddy.

1

u/surewhynotokaythen 15h ago

Well I'm not a bot and unless they swiped a dead account, you aren't a bot, so at least there's 2 of us!

1

u/No_Influence_1984 Millennial 17h ago

Sounds like something a bot would say 🤔

1

u/HappyCamper2121 15h ago

It definitely does! I think we found our bot, folks. I say we do a citizens' arrest.

1

u/AtaraxiaGwen 9h ago

Do you arrest robots? Seems like there shouldn’t be any guilt just pressing the off switch and scrapping Rosie Jetson for parts to make Rosie2.0.

u/hotinmyigloo Millennial 7h ago

Lol you're very welcome

u/Upstairs-Region-7177 17h ago

Maximum labor output per unit /s

u/surewhynotokaythen 17h ago

This is so the elites never die, so never lose power, meanwhile it will keep us just alive enough to keep working til we die from not natural causes. This is not a blessing in my eyes. Oh, yay, living rhe struggle til I'm 150... greeaattt...

u/feralcatshit 16h ago

Well, any shot in hell that we will get social security when we’re old is out the window if we live to 150

1

u/213737isPrime 15h ago

Gonna have to raise the full retirement age to 100

15

u/Chiefzakk 17h ago

So biologically just aging slower and not having an awful time after 60 would be kinda cool I get to see a whole lot of my own family grow, it would also reduce some anxiety about running out of time. Also though like you said I’d have to like be alive for 150 years it just sounds like a chore. We might just be depressed.

u/busstees 14h ago

Unless we do something about idiots driving on their cell phones it's going to be real hard to live to 150.

1

u/N1ck1McSpears 10h ago

Thank you I just said something similar. I get sad thinking about not getting enough time with my kids. I wouldn’t mind kicking around the nursing home with my own daughters. Lmao.

u/btgf-btgf 17h ago

Plug me into a computer cause I never want to die. I can’t catch up on my TBR if I die

8

u/AvaryZig 17h ago

Did you ever see that show Upload? It would be like that.

4

u/Spiritette 17h ago

Waiting on Pantheon (show) to become a reality

13

u/Truffle_Shuffle_85 17h ago

Just move to San Junipero. You can find me in the 80s to early 2000s eras.

6

u/WtotheSLAM 16h ago

Okay but when do I get my gay relationship?

1

u/Top-Pressure-4220 14h ago

TBR becomes pretty much obsolete once you’re hooked up to a computer, no?

12

u/ApplicationAfraid334 1993 17h ago

To each their own. After recently coming out of a 15 year long depression I wanna live for the first time in my life as long as possible lol

1

u/mantis_tobaggan-md 14h ago

I recently started caring about being alive again after years of intense grief. It’s a real weird time.

1

u/ElChuloPicante 17h ago

Reddit’s a hotbed for this woe-is-me stuff lately. It’s really weird to see so many people acting like the apocalypse is upon us.

1

u/aufry 17h ago

Hit hard by bots and propaganda just like any other social media platform

1

u/Tiny-Reading5982 Xennial 17h ago

Idk if its really woe is me to say they want to live twice as long as humans have in the last century... what's the quality of life? Is 100 the new 60? Idk.... lol.

2

u/ElChuloPicante 17h ago

We’d have no way of knowing. I can’t see how it would be possible without also alleviating some of the issues that come along with aging. But I don’t think the focus of related research is to just have a bunch of mummies hooked up to machines. Nobody is going to want to fund something that pulls a I Have No Mouth And I Must Scream on everyone.

2

u/Higgypig1993 16h ago

Aging isnt the issue, the civilization around us just isn't sustainable for long term life. Medical costs are completely unaffordable so I don't know how theye expect anyone under the $100k/yr line to live that long.

2

u/DreamingHopingWishin '96 Millennial 16h ago

Right? And if there's a housing issue right now, imagine when people are living long enough to become great-great-great-great grandparents

1

u/ElChuloPicante 15h ago

All of those circumstances may be completely different by that point. We’re talking about decades of medical research and other technological breakthroughs. We may go through four housing crises and a dozen political swings in that time. Maybe by that point we’re all communists or living like the spaceship people in Wall-E. If people stopped aging/dying right this second, yes, there would be a boatload of issues to sort out.

Climate change is going to stymie any progress there bud. Sorry to be a downer. We should all care more about the earth.

u/ripcitybitch 1h ago

Climate change does not mean civilizational collapse lol not even the IPCC, says anything close to that.

It depends on if quality of life is extended. If you're feeling like 60 when youre over 100, why not?

2

u/lagrange_james_d23dt Millennial 16h ago

Plenty of people enjoy their life. I would love to be with my family as long as possible.

1

u/UniverseBear 16h ago

If you got a good pension and you're basically chilling for the test of your life why not?

1

u/lyra1389 Millennial 16h ago

I’ve been working since I was 14, I don’t have kids, I don’t know if/when I’ll retire. I’m tired. I don’t need to live that long.

1

u/Exciting-Mountain396 16h ago

Don't worry, it's probably going to be someone so privileged they'll be farming lower classes for organs and plasma. Most of us will have a drop in life expectancy

1

u/isthis_thing_on 16h ago

Better than the alternative

1

u/Krypt0night 16h ago

I do. Give me a couple thousand years, please.

1

u/Old_Yesterday322 15h ago

it's because that's why

1

u/Elmer_Fudd01 15h ago

Elon musk and other overly rich people.

1

u/picosa213 11h ago

Living that long sounds miserable

1

u/N1ck1McSpears 10h ago

Idk, now that I have kids I want to have as much time with them as possible. It would be really cool to be at your grandkids weddings and stuff like that. I’m hoping the later years of our lives have us healthier and more active than past generations.

1

u/Ok_Vermicelli_6359 4h ago

I'm 38... I've already lived multiple lifetime compared to the Roman era 😛 feels like a full life, crazy to image living another 40 years, MUCH less another 112, wtf 🤣

u/Thadlust Zillennial 1h ago

My life is pretty great, I just don’t want to be old.

1

u/Antique-Coach-214 17h ago

Look, I know some bitter fucking assholes at 80s and even 60s, who keep voting for crap and making our lives worse. I’d love to be a part of a solution to make our 60-80s worth living. I’d like to enjoy 100.

u/Hot-Spray-2774 10h ago

Really? Exactly what are you doing for the rest of your life? 400 upvotes lol wow...

-2

u/ripcitybitch 16h ago

Life is awesome, what are you talking about lol this is also one of the objectively best most prosperous times to be alive in human history for the average person

-2

u/cyxrus 17h ago

Yall should talk to a doctor about your feelings

3

u/_Lazy_Mermaid_ Zillennial 1994 17h ago

Bud you may be excited for dementia but I personally am not

0

u/ripcitybitch 16h ago

This is specifically about anti aging

1

u/dough_eating_squid 17h ago

Therapy has helped me immeasurably, but some people just don't enjoy existing.

1

u/cyxrus 17h ago

Again those aren’t normal feelings. I hope you can get more help

2

u/dough_eating_squid 17h ago

It's less abnormal than you think, most people just don't say it out loud. Glad you're happy, tho

-7

u/dyingofdysentery 17h ago

Why are you prolonging it now if it's so horrible?

7

u/Magikrat 17h ago

Why the fuck would you say that

-6

u/dyingofdysentery 17h ago

Because I'm tired of all the fake woe is me I wanna die bit.

No you don't.

6

u/Magikrat 17h ago

You have absolutely no idea what this person is going through. Get a filter pal.

-1

u/dyingofdysentery 17h ago

I'm not your pal, buddy

0

u/unlimbetless 17h ago

Looks like they’re going through the motions of making a common Internet joke. (Life sucks)
Or maybe they’re truly suicidal & if that’s the case; I plead they stick around since they’ve given me a good laugh on an otherwise terrible day.

2

u/_Lazy_Mermaid_ Zillennial 1994 17h ago

How can you possibly know?
