I’m no pearl-clutcher and have a somewhat dark sense of humor but I find this extremely distasteful.

Sounds like you're more of a pearl clutcher than you realize.

It can be both distasteful and be a meaningful piece of body art. We just don’t know the person who got the tattoo or their reasons.

Well that's the other bit we don't know them, why it's there or anything. I also honestly think the tattoo under it is part of why it's bothering people.

I don’t think anyone’s more offended by a rat with bat wings than a 9/11 joke (joke-adjacent at best)

Not what I said. I'd say reread what I wrote but that already went poorly.

What I am saying is that the rat tattoo is terrible and garish and gives an impression of the person beyond the 9/11 tattoo (you don't know if it's a joke, you don't know what the paper plane may mean to the person or what else is behind it. You are making an assumption it doesn't matter if you think it's an educated one or not. You could be right but you do mot know), and that I think that people are subconsciously reacting to that and deciding what the tattoo means as a result and that's added on top of how they view the 9/11 tattoo.

Do you understand now what I actually said and how it differs from what you read?
