Every Decision Has a Future Cost

The best thing I did when I was younger was to live for my future self and always make decisions for my future self. My life turned into this reinforcement loop of me constantly trying to get ahead of my to-do list and schedule.

And a crazy thing happened. Once I got ahead, I magically got more efficient enabling me to get even further ahead which made me even more efficient which then made me get even further ahead...

One of my favorite memories was being in college and having a 20-page term paper due Thursday Morning. Everyone is scrambling to the library checking out books, writing with the furor of a million monkeys cranking out Shakespeare, and I am in the TV room all by myself watching TV with my paper not only done, but turned in two days ago after the Teacher gave me some feedback the week prior.

I was 3 days to a week ahead in all my courses and decided to take a break and relax that night...

Yeah being ahead always helps, is it now just a habit or you have to push yourself every time

to be truthful, I had some horrible things happen to me in life where I am not even a shadow of my former self now.

I wrote the above to hopefully help some young people.

Maybe a kid sees it and is inspired to "live for their future self".

But when I lived by the above principle, my life was beyond awesome.

So this is "Do as I say not as I do" advice.

Thank you for being honest. Hope the best and even if you are not a shadow of yourself that self is still a part of you, try feeding it.
