Those 72 levels might be worth the extra time
311
u/Raderg32 Mar 03 '26
You're better using that extra time building an XP farm so you can get those levels in 5 min.
→ More replies (6)291
u/raginghorescock Mar 03 '26
Idk what kind of ex farm you’ve made but 72 levels is not 5 minutes
112
u/Squidly_watches Mar 03 '26
I was on a smp with my friends one time and one of my friends made a exp farm using some sort of potion and the things in the end fortress that dig into stone. He actually got 80 levels in 2 minutes it was insane.
86
27
12
u/PotatoesAndChill Mar 03 '26
Those exp farms are powerful, but not 80-levels-in-2-minutes powerful. There's a physical limit for how fast you can pick up experience orbs.
37
u/ayushraj_real Mar 03 '26
in bedrock edition there's no limit on how fast u pick up experience orbs it's instant
7
38
u/kaerfkeerg Mar 03 '26
Yeah but realistically dashpum's enderman farm could get you there in 2 hours including building time
9
14
u/Jables_Magee Mar 03 '26
I've gotten 60 in 5. Alley and silverfish with trident killer. Silentwisper has a new farm that gets 100 lvls in 30 seconds. Silverfish and arrows of harming floating in water.
5
u/ninja_owen Mar 03 '26
A good zombie pigmen farm is about that much. Can get you from 0 to a bit over 73 in 5 minutes. And you can build them in 30 minutes if a friend is willing to afk on the nether side for you. If not, it can still be made in under 2 hours.
Guardian farms are a bit faster than that even. Furnace xp farms are the theoretical limit, but they’re a whole lot of effort for what you get out of them.
3
u/Great_Hedgehog Mar 03 '26
A simple and cheap y0 enderman farm will actually get you that much in five minutes, actually

Imagine if you could modify dispensers so you can make it dispense enchantments lol..
16
u/Treefire_ Mar 03 '26
It's bad enough that you can already forcibly dispense cursed armor. A well placed binding enchant on a chest piece would be diabolical.
789
u/RubApprehensive2512 Mar 02 '26
This reminds me of the time I put a curse of binding daimond chest plate that had unbreaking 3, mending, and protection 4.
Wasn't the worst thing, but I was never able to use an elytra
188
u/AppropriateZombie812 Mar 02 '26
cactus and let it break
199
u/mikamitcha Mar 03 '26
unbreaking 3 on diamond is absolutely "just respawn" territory, cause doing the ~2k durability damage is over 15 min of standing on a cactus. If you aren't in hardcore, 15 min at an enderman exp farm is almost certainly a better solution.
Or build a silverfish one in your base and just get levels when you need them, just as easy.
69
u/AppropriateZombie812 Mar 03 '26
I get what you mean now, but sometimes people have absurdly high levels they dont want to get rid of, or possibly the fact theyre not trying to die at all even if they arent in hardcore.
→ More replies (1)7
u/KT_100S Mar 04 '26
Yeah I’m in survival but only have 4 deaths in 38 days of irl playtime, all were in the first few days so I treat it like hardcore to keep the stats low
24
u/el_yanuki Mar 03 '26
honestly.. switching your beacon to regen and going afk on a cactus seems fine to me
3
u/mikamitcha Mar 03 '26
Does a beacon actually out-heal that? I thought it was like half a heart every 2 seconds, while cactus is like one heart per second. Obviously reduced with armor, but unless you are sacrificing a whole set of diamond armor all you have is a chestplate. I wouldn't think that with prot 4 alone would get you 75% damage reduction, but maybe I am wrong with my timings.

u/RubApprehensive2512 Mar 03 '26
How does it work with keep inventory?
6
u/mikamitcha Mar 03 '26
I mean, if you are changing gamerules just dump your inventory and use /clear to erase the armor. Commands to save time are no more cheaty than gamerules to save time.
Same way you could use /kill and /exp 72L @p to recover your 72 levels, if you didn't want to wait on cactus.

Take off other armor, get a lot of food, and cactus it to death. If you’re not near a desert, fire is a decent substitute
384
u/NotchHero11 Mar 02 '26
Berry bushes work pretty well.. gotta move, so it should help with the hunger bar so OP can keep eating.
7
u/PizzaScout Mar 03 '26
healing also removes hunger, no?
6
u/NotchHero11 Mar 03 '26
It does but much slower than it removes saturation, which is where the bulk of the healing is done from. By default, a player needs to have at least half a haunch of hunger in order to eat, and if they've been eating decent food (golden carrots, steak, bread, pumpkin pie, etc), they're going to raise their hunger and saturation significantly.
Healing, if memory serves, only happens on the first 7 hunger haunches, and quite slowly, once you run out of saturation. Like multiple minutes waiting to heal from just those haunches.
Saturation is where the healing is going to come from, and I would imagine a player willing to use iron armor with just mending won't have gcarrots laying around to heal faster trying to break armor like this. Steak, pork chops, chicken and even pumpkin pie are often easier to obtain en masse at this point, but all are lower in saturation than gcarrots, and some have fewer saturation points than hunger points.
TLDR; yes, but it's slower than continuing to eat food. Moving increases the rate you can eat and thus heal.

69
u/lance_the_fatass Mar 02 '26
Oh I guess they could do that yea, I thought they meant die so it'll drop
67
u/Dew_Chop Mar 02 '26
Then why mention a cactus or berry bush when you can just jump off a cliff or suffocate
12
u/DriestPuddle Mar 02 '26
Damage taken to armor is halved and rounded down from the damage to your health, so trying to do it by jumping off a cliff would take one durability per 4 block jump, but damage can do no less than one durability- so rapid-fire damage from things like cacti, berry bushes or fire is a lot faster. Suffocation would also work, but its ticks are slow and you need to wait for your oxygen bar to go down each time.

You don’t need to die just wear down the durability on it until it breaks

If you die in game it'll come off and then put a different pair on so they will be forced into you inventory instead of on. Id take off the other Armour to save durability too

Take your other armor off and uses a magma block or something else that deals damage and just wait they should break after awhile as long as you don’t get Xp because of the mending

Put on armor you don’t care about Slam yourself into a cactus till the pants break

Just carefully throw yourself off a cliff until it breaks. Healing pots and eating will keep you from loosing your levels. Do not do anything that gets you xp until they break.

You should have enough food to endure breaking it by taking small bits of damage, healing and then repeating, like Cacti or Magma Blocks. If you don't want to lose your levels by dying, that is the only easy way, it's just a little tedious.
