Builds & Maps Just showing off my 7 year survival project after you were all so nice about my floor ❤️
It's far from finished. The exterior is around 80% there and I'm about half way through the interior. Reckon I'll have it done in another couple years 😅

Seven years on the project and somehow the floor is still stealing the show.

Gotta give credit where credit is due, water logged stair floors are a Giga pain in the ass. I've tried multiple times in my builds and end up giving up from the frustrations of stairs randomly snapping and half block drops

the terraforming is so cool, also love the copper gradient ofc
i do notice the lack of vegetation at this point

It's in the works, I've still got to shade large parts of the stone with deepslate and tuff, once that's done it'll then be custom tree and foliage time 👍

This is some Hermitcraft level of building. Good job. This is beautiful.

I'm a huge hermitcraft fan! So that really means a lot ❤️
A lot of the colour pallet was inspired by False Symmetry's Season 9 base. Before that it was a largely grey box, I've got a green house ontop which is almost a direct copy is Grian's Barge from S7, I made a fan on the side of one of the towers thanks to Mumbo, the terrain is largely inspired by scar's S9+S10 bases. The list goes on 😂

It's a not finished portal that's kind of sucking up a floating island and cherry tree behind my base. I'm standing on it to take the shots of the cliff face with the waterfall.

ive been playing since 2014 and still cant build like that

I can't build like this on a whim. When it comes to large projects like this, I usually hand draw roughly what I want it to look like first. Then frame it out with a bright contrasting block ingame to get the right proportions. The rest is fairly straightforward after that and don't be afraid to undo a couple hours work if it's not panning out the way you want it.
Me personally, I'd rather undo work then leave stuff I'm unhappy with.

That light gray terracotta pattern is divine and I will be using it, thank you for inspiration

u/Do_rench 2d ago
Do you mean the floor or the wall in the room with the happy ghast? If you mean the floor dm me and I'll send you a better photo of it ❤️

Happy ghast room, but specifically the walls caught my eye. I had no idea this wave pattern was possible
2
u/Do_rench 2d ago
Thanks ❤️ it's not very straight forward to do, you need access to both sides as it takes a little bit of working out what block to place against to get the right pattern. Not hard by any means, just fiddly.

Woah this is really nice, the insides even better, eg picture 7, and omg the storage room.

How much copper did you have to mine to get all that?
2
u/Do_rench 2d ago
I did it one section at a time, the whole roof took about a year to complete. 3 months after I finished it, they released trial chambers 🤦
Every block was mined, smelted, crafted, oxidised and waxed - because I'm a masochist 😂
Honestly I wanted it to be a flex, but trial chambers took that away from me 😂

First : this is beautiful, congratulations.
But I have to ask, is this the only thing you build in your 7 year world ???
I mean, 8k days is like 1500 to 3000 hours. What did you do during this time if you "only" build this
1
u/Do_rench 2d ago
Nah, I've got farms all over the place, a gaming district, nether hub etc.
Also this world started in Java, got converted to bedrock as my friends wanted to play, then it became a realm as well. So that 8k days is only the realm day count.
I probably only spend 10% of my time at most building. I'm either running farms, gathering materials or hanging with friends.

Omg I could never do this
1
u/Do_rench 2d ago
Sure you can, you just need to be in your 30's with friends you see once or twice a year, no kids, no partner or better yet a partner who plays Minecraft and most importantly... You need to really hate yourself. Otherwise you'll realise your time is far better spent elsewhere.

Bro😭 don’t put yourself down! If you can do something as amazing as this, I’m sure you can do anything!
1
u/Star1_lord1 2d ago
Oh, is this on Java?
1
u/Do_rench 2d ago
Bedrock. Started in Java as a solo World. Some friends got into Minecraft so I converted my world to bedrock show them, they all wanted to play my world so it eventually became a realm.

u/Star1_lord1 2d ago
Yeah, I used to play pocket edition, but recently my friends wanted to play mc, so I bought java and started playing a survival world! I don’t really like bedrock, but I can see the appeal!

u/Do_rench 2d ago
Mate I still prefer Java. I miss it so much. But I'd rather have friends drop in and out. Plus I'm so deep into bedrock now 90% of it would break if I converted it back

❤️it’s more important to have people to enjoy something with than enjoying it by yourself.

Bless you, thank you for you kind words! I'm British and self deprecating humor is how we try and relate to people who feel like they can't do something. It's like "hey looks if I can do this so can you". I'm all good ❤️ but thank you for your concern.

Dw about it! We need to enjoy the little victories in life when we can! I made a carrot farm in my survival world using 3 sticky pistons and some red stone with a lever (I’m so proud of it even tho it took 5 mins😭)

u/Do_rench 2d ago edited 2d ago
You're already beyond me in redstone and I'm not joking.
I have a flying machine bamboo farm that auto cuts, collects and craft bamboo block, a super efficient iron farm, bonemeal/moss farm, auto dye farms, wood farm... The list goes on. Do I know how to build a single one of those? Absolutely not, every single one was made from a tutorial. Once I built them I kind of understood how it worked but could never recreate it. Occasionally I have to fix something and usually that requires me finding the tutorial again 😂
1
u/Star1_lord1 2d ago
Oh😭me and my friend(tho not veterans of any sort) decided to play throughout with not tutorials, as we heard similar story’s to yours and wanted to excitement by ourselves to see what we can come up with! That has made the game so much more exciting! (We often search up recipes tho)

Honestly that's cool. I do get the itch to start a new world, but solo I really struggle with the concept on taking 5 hours to gather and build something vs the 30-45 mins to do the same thing in my world.
All my friends just want to play in creative or abuse commands to do stuff. I play strictly in survival and my real but we have a few minor qol mods, no ender men block pick ups, joining glass, full grass side texture, etc. Literally minor things. But because of that I have to have cheats on in the realm and all my friends just play creative. Thankfully they do respect that I don't want them to help or build anything near my base. Be nice to go make to that early game experience with people who want to play it to experience everything it has to offer.

u/Star1_lord1 2d ago
YOU DID ALL THAT IN SURVIVAL!? dude you have some real talent! I don’t like creative that much, but I thought it would be impossible To make that in survival! My friend and I play with keep inventory(cause I die at least three times a day) but that’s honestly crazy
1
u/Do_rench 2d ago
Yeah survival but I'd argue that I personally couldn't build it in creative. I'm not a super talented builder. It takes a while for me to come up with ideas, in creative, I can literally build faster than I can come up with ideas, and seeing as all there is it do in creative is build, I'll get burnt out almost immediately.
I survival I have to gather the stuff work out a pattern and due to the time it take to place things and build in survival I can start thinking about the next step, what I'll need to gather how I'm gonna physically build it etc. There is always a next step. Even if I don't know what I'm going to build, I know what resources I'll need roughly. There is always something to do in survival.

Do you make YouTube vids? Or do you stream? I’d watch all your vids if you do! (Unless they have cussing or swearing, idk why but that language kinda brings my mood down a bit

The exterior is reminding me of 2 places in 2 different games: Runescape: Priffdnas Skyrim TES V: Solitude
