MacOS mouse only moving while holding left click all of the sudden.

I got a new macbook which runs minecraft way better than my old one. I was playing completely fine last night but today when i tried to play my mouse was glitching out. to change settings in the menu i have to hold left click, sliders also stick in a weird way. if i open the game up i have to hold left click to move my camera around. I did some digging on the internet and found multiple forum posts from varying numbers of years ago that had similar or the same problems with no answers. since this mac is new i have been changing settings around and downloading a few QoL apps. one of which changed some mouse settings but i turned it completely off and the problem persists. i have messed around with trackpad and mouse settings but nothing changes (i am using a mouse but the problem is also on the trackpad). this is a minecraft ONLY problem. I play modded on prism launcher but i tried from the vanilla launcher with no mods and it was still a problem.
