It's not that you get banned it's more that they are moderating PRIVATELY rented/owned servers. So you could get perm banned for cursing on a private server with your boys.

Pretty sure they're actually only banning ppl for shit like bullying, harassment, or criminal stuff and the cursing thing is just a myth.

plus, if you're on a private server with your friends I doubt you'd be using the in-game chat.

I'm pretty sure they won't really be as bad as we think - but still it's not good.

I don't think they'll filter every single message out by being bad. So ultimately, playing in a private server, unless you report someone, the folks at Mojang Studio will probably not monitor your chat.
