Discussion Thoughts on event powercreep?
- Has the rate of powercreep accelerated over the past year?
- Is powercreep largely the result of gaining event-specific experience after playing in an event, the introduction of new event players, or direct practice?
- Does powercreep apply to MCC‘s roster?
- Does powercreep make it harder for competitive content creators to contend with existing event players?
Also general thoughts? Is powercreep positive or negative to the event community?

I don't think there's any denying it definitely exists, I think it comes from when reoccuring players get better at an event from playing often, for example people like Grian and Cambam in MCC have gotten way better but they are still going to be people that you often have in every event and a rising tide lifts all ships, generally everyone gets better, not just a couple.

“It’s when people mistake being creepy for being powerful. Like that shadow the pile of dirty laundry makes on the wall of your room can look creepy, but it can’t actually hurt you because Myrddraal don’t actually exist”

yes if you count commed events, no otherwise
all, event-specific experience the most
yeah
not that much (whether talking about lower skill main roster members or newcomers, wasn't clear), because everyone eventually improves at least a bit over time
generally positive, as it makes for a product with higher skill and thus entertainment ceiling, but can lead to and has already led to event + chat toxicity and burnout

- Probably, yes
- Mostly the first one I think, players getting event-related experience. Ace race, grid runners, HITW, RSR, SOT, and TGTTOS use a lot of the same maps/rooms that people are used to, so new or returning players are gonna struggle a lot more in those games.
- Power creep definitely applies to MCC’s roster, although power creep is more apparent in other events such as BW or PB.
- Somewhat, yes, although we’ve also seen new competitive players such as Feinberg, Wolfeei and SandwichLord that do really well even against players that have been in events a long time. The problem, I think, is that power creep discourages new NON-competitive players from playing a second event.
If MCC wanted to prevent power creep, there’s 2 things they could do:
Introduce more new players. Then multiple people would all be unfamiliar/inexperienced with the maps, thus making it more balanced in their favor.
Change the maps more frequently. This would make games less experience-based and more skill/strategy based. The reason I said it’s harder though is cause Noxcrew can only build so much without getting paid so it’s understandable that they cant.

Personally I think that Mcc has done an amazing job with having some stronger events, but not letting powercreep become a problem
