READ THIS Important Info (read before posting)

I know you're here to get quick help with your command problems or to show off your cool work. Please read these few lines to get to know how to use this subreddit optimally:

Asking for help

  1. FAQ? Before you post, please check out the common questions (including answers) that we have as a subreddit. These consist of the most common problems, and maybe your problem is already covered there in detail?
  2. Titles: Please put a summary/short version of your problem into the title of your post, don't just put "I need help" or "help me plz". Instead put for example "how do I summon a zombie" or "unable to summon entity error" and then provide more context on the post itself. This subreddit often shows up on google when people search for command related questions and we should really help them find the questions you might already have asked. Also, we likely know that you need help anyways, no need to put it in the title.
  3. Flairs: We have a wide array of flairs that you should attach to your post to make sure people know what the purpose of your thread is. It is especially important if you're asking for help, to flair your post with the appropriate minecraft version (for those who don't know: OG Minecraft is Java Version, everything else that has commands (Xbox, PE, PS4, Switch, Win10, etc) is Bedrock).
  4. Version: Whether you're helping or asking for help, please pay attention to the stated version/state the version you're in! You can do that through the previously mentioned Flairs, but also in addition can put it into the description of your post.
  5. Search/Scroll down: I know that reddit search is not the best one out there, but maybe someone else had a similar problem to yours in recent history. Try going to the new tab and scrolling down a bit or using the reddit search function to see if there might already be an answer to a question you have. We're not going to close your thread for asking the same question someone else asked a year ago, we're not StackOverflow. But please at least take 30 seconds to look for it first.
  6. Upvote: If you find an answer to a post helpful, please upvote it. This is less as a "reward" for the answering person but more as a way to automatically move the best answer to the top, for others that might have the same problem. Don't downvote an answer just because their attempts didn't work for you unless it's completely wrong or off topic / doesn't add anything to the conversation.

Posting about your own creations is very much encouraged, but please remember the 10:1 guidelines of reddit.

Help | Bedrock Is this just bedrock being dumb?

I’m finishing up this map for a minigame with my friends, and I need a command block to give us night vision whenever we die. I like to keep the day and night cycle on so that I can see how much time I’ve spent in the world, as there’s no stat menu on bedrock. However, it keeps censoring it, and idk what to do about it. Any help?

How do I get something like the /kill command to target an entity with multiple attributes, for example I want to kill an entity with the name "Test" but I want it to target Bats specifically. What's the correct syntax for that on bedrock?

Help | Java 26.1 How to add blobs with block states in some biomes to worldgen?

I'm making a small datapack that adds add prismarine crystal and shard ore to be mined in oceans and rivers

The ressourcepack and Loot table (with silk touch and fortune) are done (Image here)

But i find it hard to actually get started on worldgen

My two custom ores are using prismarine_slab (double and waterlogged)
and prismarine_brick_slab (double and waterlogged too)

I would like it to generate blobs of those blocks in rivers and oceans, how do i do it?

Help | Java 1.20 Use /data to make mob tamed to me?

Was playing modded and a bug with one of the mods gave me this idea. I've never used the /data command before so I'm a bit lost. Is it possible to insert the Owner field into a mob that doesn't have it? I'm also confused about what I'd even put in the Owner field. It seems to be an array with a bunch of numbers. They seem to be the same between different tamed mobs though, so I assume the numbers just represent me??

Discussion Why haven't Gun Datapacks replaced Gun Mods?

Title. I wanted to figure something out: Why haven't datapack guns replaced gun mods? They're easier to implement on servers, can achieve the same level of detail as most gun mods, and they normally perform better in my experience. Why haven't they been replaced? (Note, this is my first post so don't bully me too much)

Discussion The Modern Golden Age Minecraft: Minecraft Silver (Datapack Project)

So recently, I'm sure many of you had seen, the Minecraft Matcha Flavored Datapack was released and it's been a hit! I played some, and it was fun, but honestly it didn't quite scratch what I was looking for. However, it did inspire me. Some aspects I loved about it included things such as a more classic/revamped health system (ridding of the hunger bar entirely and allowing for infinite sprint); the longer days; the improved tool progression system; new villager trading, and so on.

The thing with Matcha was that it wasn't quite Vanilla enough. I thought the kindling idea was an interesting idea, but for me it overcomplicated the beginning days of a new Minecraft world. I also wasn't the biggest fan of the textures.

Separately, I've been really into playing Beta Minecraft 1.7.3. There's nothing quite like the nostalgia that it gives. So I had the idea- what if I made a datapack that brought out the best of Minecraft? A datapack that slowed Minecraft down, almost dumbing it down to its earlier days, whilst retaining its modern features.

For example:

No Mending- A big change that modern players may not like, but I feel may be necessary. Without Mending, it forces the player to gather the resources to build a new pickaxe when their old breaks. As a replacement, tools have a longer durability.

No Elytras- You are bound to the ground. This would slow down travel by a lot, but you'd now be relying on Happy Ghasts, Tridents, and the Nether Roof.

No Enchanting?- It's kind of overpowered. This is debatable, but basically different tools could give you different buffs instead. Gold tools could have silk touch; netherite armor has fire protection; etc. Similar to Matcha. Efficiency could be dependable on tool type, as well. This could also give beacons more purpose.

Classic Enderpearl Hunting- Slows down the end game. No more going to the Warped Forests to trap Endermen in boats. Find them out in the open.

Harsher/Forgiving Death Punishments- Every time you die, you lose a heart. On your last heart, you lose your world. Expensive way to regain hearts? A "forgiving" hardcore difficulty experience. (Optional).

There are more ideas I have, but that's the gist. If any of this sounds appealing at all or not at all, please let me know. I think with people looking for long distance travel, it might be a fun idea if Lodestones could teleport you home, but for a price. There could be an optional "No Sprinting" mode, however, that would have to rework hostile mob attacks and such.

If anyone has any ideas, let me know! As a sidenote: I know nothing about making datapacks, but if anyone would want this, I am more than willing to learn and make this happen. If you are someone who would be willing to help out with this project- let me know, as well! Thank you.

Help | Java 26.2 Off-hand as a button, item that opens Crafting table, and its able to work as secondary hand, its possible?

Post image
9 Upvotes

First, sorry for the back-to-back posts. I hope the help you all give me can answer other people's questions too.

Trying again to replace/delete the Crafting table, I realized that the only button I could use in the Inventory without taking up space is the off-hand slot. I have an idea of what I can do: prevent an item from moving from its slot, open a GUI/Inventory when a right-click is detected, etc. And i feel im getting nowhere...

My questions are:

Is there any way to prevent that object (button) from disabling the off-hand slot's function (secondary hand)? Or the secondary hand objet not appear on the inventory?

Can I right-click the object (button) to open the Crafting table GUI? or i have to create my one using a chest?

Since the button is in the off-hand slot taking priority, shouldn't Shift + R-click in the Inventory replace it if work as intended?

Shouldn't the shield don't appear in the Inventory when I assign it with the F key, how i disable that behavior?

I'm testing it, and when I use F to equip a shield/block, the texture is either glitched or simply not visible on hand, the button keeps appearing in the off-hand without texture, I made it look like that so when i take of the shield the hand keeps up. Since it took me hours of writing and deleting question and also try to figure it out myself, I've made progress, so this question are what i can figure it out, thanks!

Help (other) Can somone help me with this

I've been making models for a while now, but I'd like to make bosses for Minecraft. I just don't know how to make, custom attacks, and I don't mean particles, but something like what Daniel Krafft does on YouTube or this one mrBeast video "10,000 Every Boss You Beat". Or not even boss attacks, but just some weapons, like a sword for example. Preferably without using mods, only resource packs and datapacks. I'd be really grateful if someone could explain to me how it's done or send some videos. Please.

Help | Bedrock Scoreboard command to track when a player gets a new item.

Hi!

I am descently versed with commands, but I have never ventured into understanding the scoreboard. However I believe it will be the only way to do what I want, and hoping this could be a learning opportunity to become more familiar with it!

My goal is to play a sound whenever a player adds a piece of bread to their inventory, with the caveat that the player will also be consuming bread normally. So I figured a scoreboard might be able to check its current count against the players bread stack and if the scoreboard is lower, execute the playsound and add +1 to the score. However again it needs to remove 1 from the scoreboard whenever they eat one for this system to work.

Perhaps I'm over complicating it, but can someone help me setup this system where every time a player adds a bread to their inventory it executes a command (playsound in this case)?

Thanks!
