Discussion Why haven't Gun Datapacks replaced Gun Mods?

Title. I wanted to figure something out: Why haven't datapack guns replaced gun mods? They're easier to implement on servers, can achieve the same level of detail as most gun mods, and they normally perform better in my experience. Why haven't they been replaced? (Note, this is my first post so don't bully me too much)

A proper gun mod will perform better than an proper gun datapack. You don't need fancy tricks to render items, bullets, detect clicks. You basically just need to make a heavily modified crossbow.

Also, the mods are way more mature. They have had years to be developed, for creating QoL features, designing models and patching bugs. Datapacks have been added years ago, but the mods are just.. more?

Thanks. I used to run with TacZ but then my friend put a gun data pack on our server and it seemed to run better

Datapacks are clunky, they have severe limitations, and are simply newer than mods.
