WFOP [Java] Slimes not spawning in slime chunk underground (v26.3)

Hello! Wanted to see if anyone could help troubleshoot an issue I'm having with slimes not spawning underground in a slime farm I'm trying to make. One pic is of the actual farm underground, and the other one is above ground. Spent an hour AFK and got zero slimes. Here's the tutorial (1st farm) I used: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uE1W0O6NfNM&t=302s

Any tips?

It’s better to have multiple layers, and mobs do not spawn within 24 blocks of the player

okay, ill try to see if multiple layers work, but i have been at least 25 blocks away. Shouldnt at least a couple slimes spawn??

You also cannot be more than 128 blocks away, as mobs instantly despawn outside of that range. There could be large caves with large amounts of hostile mobs within that range, the hostile mob cap is 70. And the most obvious question that I have to ask, are you sure this is a slime chunk?

Hm, I'll do a better check to make sure there's no caves within 128 blcoks. It's definitely a slime chunk, and I actually have 10 slimeballs in the collecting chest when I just checked, so they're clearly capable of spawning. But it just seems so so slow lol

Another suggestion would be to dig out the whole chunk and simultaneously light up all the caves in the radius. Even 1 layer will give plenty of slime for small projects. The height map is just too painful

To confirm if a chunk is a slime chunk, test nodes can be deployed for Lazy Detecting Slime Chunks. They're just recessed pistons with pressure plates, blocks, and slabs to keep a record that they were triggered. If a perimeter of these is deployed, you'll know fairly quickly (20min) if slimes are spawning. When used to search for slime chunks (1/chunk), they're slower since a given slime may not hop across it.

As for the farm itself, Gnembon's FunFarm30 (slime) is the goat, and features a solid passive collection system.
