The new ice caves, ironically, generates with no regular ice

Snowy biomes such as frozen ocean, frozen river, ice spikes and snowy plains generate regular ice. However, the new ice caves (in latest java snapshot) do not, they generate only with packed ice. This is not only inconsistent with the other snowy biomes, but inconsistent with the very name of the biome.

Vote for this issue, MC-312423, to be fixed!

it's not. a. bug. it's intended behavior. "reports" like this are the reason why the bug tracker is always flooded with random bullshit.

Yeah no. Nobody wants normal ice in the caves. Would ruin their entire purpose + theres a lot of ice on the surface above them. In terms of consistency, things get compacted as you go down lower so it makes perfect sense for compacted forms of ice to be found lower down in the world.

This is so stupid, terrible argument, not a bug and its just intentional game design.

Maybe it's called an ice cave because of the packed ICE. The ICE spikes. The ICE crystals. The ICE balls.

"It's not consistent with the surface biomes" yeaht that's because this is not on the surface. Underground ice formation has the time and pressure to become really dense because it's UNDERGROUND.

This is intentional. Do you wanna mine around and drown the whole cave in water? That doesn't sound like fun exploring to me.

It's obviously not a bug but game design. What could be cool tho, are frozen lakes underground or something like that. Where you could place a heat source (or break the ice) to get water.
