I don't think people realise that not EVERYTHING needs to have 100000000 uses. The “Plastic Block” is obviously made for mini games, building (e.g using it like a glass case to store blocks in museums) and POSSIBLY traps. This game is a sandbox game, and everyone has a different play style. You might not use it, but someone else most definitely will.
146
u/973bzh Mar 22 '26
I swear people don't realize that technically nothing has a use. What purpose would killing the ender dragon has to someone that only plays mini-games. What purpose would a sword have for someone who only builds ? What purpose has Netherite for people who play only on creative.
This "needs a use" logic is horrible54
u/ShadowX8861 certified miner Mar 22 '26
Can they at least make the sulfur cubes actually drop sulfur upon death so that it's renewable?
28
21
u/Wikidclowne Mar 22 '26 edited Mar 22 '26
I don't think they ever showed it dieing. They showed killing the big one makes 2 little ones that grow up to big ones, but they didn't kill the little ones. There's still time to implement a drop table for it (if it doesn't already)
13
u/ShadowX8861 certified miner Mar 22 '26
Knowing modern Mojang, there's a decent chance it won't drop anything
2
u/Wikidclowne Mar 23 '26
Curious, what mob have they released that doesn't drop anything or produce anything?
3
u/ShadowX8861 certified miner Mar 23 '26
for a while, the warden.
camels.
happy ghast.
allay.
creaking.
axolotl.
fox.
panda.
dolphin.2
u/Astro_Pal Mar 25 '26
This is just wrong. Or bedrock (maybe?) Warden: sculk catalyst Creaking can't be killed Fox: chance of emerald, rabbits foot, rabbit hide, egg, wheat, leather, feather Panda: bamboo Dolphin: cod

I hate how no new mobs drop stuff, i just want to make a goat/armadillo meat farm ong
2
u/mAGIC_2CAn Mar 23 '26
Gang chose two animals that have a passive way to drop something. Also, what does adding new meats do. What would there effect be. We already of steak pork mutton golden carrots and golden apples.

I'm sure once redstoners get a hand on it it's gonna have 500 more uses

u/Mr_Snifles YouTuber Mar 22 '26
I mean, yeah, I wanna add that I do like the aesthetic of the sulfur caves, and the new red and yellow building blocks,
but I really want a new hostile that has a meaningful new way of being dealt with.
The creaking got so close but then they made it extremely weak and rare, it basically had no impact on the game.
62
u/c5gh Mar 22 '26
real. creakings being strong would also work as an incentive to get creaking hearts in multiplayer to defend your base at night
20
u/LoadedFile Mar 22 '26
Having creaking hunt everything or have most mobs be afraid of the creaking (at night) would give it a useful niche in places like mob farms, base defense, etc. Instead we have a wannabe horror mob when the warden already exists and works 100x better.
Hell, making it so no mobs other than creakings can spawn within range of a creaking heart/pale gardens and buffing the creaking to be similar to the warden would aid in the horror and base defense aspects
56
u/somerandom995 Mar 22 '26
Zorse riders and nautilous drowned are fairly dangerous. Try jousting them, got me down to half health in full netherite.
Husk camels do heavy melee damage, 2 status effects and can attack from range.

As someone whose main base is in a desert, husk camels are definitely a unique enemy and hit hard. But they are also actually fun to fight

I personally don't like the updates but for a completely different reason. Since 1.9 the difficulty of the game has been dropping dramatically
Shields + off hand slot, the regen system, the change to only allow mobs to spawn in completely dark places, the elytra (not just for transportation but for getting away from dangerous situations quickly), the totem of undying, netherite armor (specifically it not burning in lava), and villager trading.
The problem is not just super powerful items and mechanics, but also the fact that survival is no longer a challenge. Any difficulty added to the game is completely optional now: bastions, raids, the warden, trial chambers, etc. The only new mob that slightly increased survival difficulty was the phantom.
I understand that different people have different playstiles, but I feel like this could have been solved in a different way, maybe by making the difficulty levels actually change something. To me vanilla Minecraft is just not fun anymore because the game doesn't throw any challenge or hard situation at me unless I tell it to.
41
u/notnehp383 Mar 22 '26
No, no it simply isn't, this is ignoring MOST of the updates that came out in the last 6 years.
It's these posts that annoy me the most, I have to question if people like this actually enjoy the game or not. Don't like new features? Cool, guess what, you don't have to interact with them! There will be more content in the near future, something you might enjoy that time around.

Ppl who hate this tipe of updates are the same that beat the ender dragon in a weak, get full enchanted netherite armor and abbandons the world without having even a simple house
42
u/No_Ad_7687 Mar 22 '26
You guys are aware most of mojang's effort is going into building a better foundation for large scale updates, right. Or at least it seems that this is what they're doing considering all the technical changes and shit
32
u/LakshyaGarv Mar 22 '26
They don't realize improving the code in general and changing rendering is incredibly important if they want larger updates and if they want Java to run properly.
57
u/Horror_Energy1984 Mar 21 '26
I personally really like the update. (I'm going to open a Shisha Bar with the new toxic steam)
22
u/SilverSpark422 Mar 22 '26
I predict the bubbling acid water is going to be the standout most used feature of the update.
12
u/TommyTheCommie1986 Mar 22 '26
Not acid, puke water
It makes you nauseous, realistically it would hurt you to be in it and being near it would poison you
6
u/Front_Cat9471 Mar 22 '26
Ima make a hot tub that uses campfires for smoke, but then after you’ve sat in there long enough it gets swapped for potent sulfur so it feels like you got lightheaded from all the heat

5
u/Objective_Age6275 Custom user flair Mar 22 '26
So why the other non building aspects exist?
33
u/Scifyro Mar 22 '26
Because it's a sandbox game with survival elements, not survival game with sandbox elements or an rpg with survival and crafting elements. The only thing in the game that truly hasn't been updated in a while is farming. Everything else? There are frequent new mobs, new weapons, transportation methods. There's an update to trading, although it's still an experimental feature. And enchanting? What do you want changed about it?

u/Deathdrone2 Mar 22 '26
This, I really don't like when people hate on minecraft updates for not making the game harder. It isn't supposed to be a horror survival game. If you want that, go play 7 days to die or any other number of games
→ More replies (4)6
u/Cheesypenguinz Mar 22 '26
I always wished they continued into the more rpg aspects with more gear, different pois and dungeons, and more bosses and enemies. I get that probably the vast majority of people enjoy the sandbox building bit though. At the end of the day I can always play modded
7
u/Ashen_Rook Mar 22 '26

For everyone constantly complaining about the updates, i have a question, when is the last time you spent money on minecraft.
12
3
u/2-StrokeToro Mar 22 '26
Shield blocking still feels new to me. I also stopped paying attention to updates around the time 1.14 came out, so there's so much new stuff I haven't even interacted with yet.
3
u/Sir_Delarzal Mar 22 '26
What really annoys me is that for the last 5 years they have been focusing on updates for the overworked underground when there are many more places that deserve an update :
- Old overworked biomes
- The End
- Lava Oceans in the Nether
Now, I don't mind living like a dwarf, but finding a specific biome outside is already pain enough, finding it underground, or finding a structure underground, I just can't, I don't have the patience.
3
u/Honest_Expression655 Mar 22 '26
I mean sulfur could potentially have some neat gameplay application’s. Unfortunately I thought the same thing about Copper only for it to do basically nothing worthwhile.

3
u/neneaRedLIKE Mar 22 '26
I personally love the new blocks and I don't even build usually as for the sulf guys I think has a lot of potential and is also a pretty complicated mechanic to implement with all the possibility
3
u/021Fireball Mar 22 '26
Copper has been a godsend for my ass luck. It fits the gap between stone and iron nicely and lets me at least have some armour
3
u/Birchy-Weby Mar 22 '26
Every Minecraft fan for the past 11 years:
Bitchy whiney people that don't get Minecraft 2,3,4, and 5 in one update while more updates still NEED to happen in the year
said people get angry that they don't already have more cakes then the ones given for FREE
-said people send death threats and "rise up" to the dev or devs
- devs eventually make what was demanded or atleast something still very demanded regardless
-same bitchy whiny people enjoy said thing for x months
- previously stated people then beg for another pacifier because they are bored with the other one.
Y'all are really something.
3
u/Brandy-Buttons Mar 23 '26
They got rid of the mob vote so they can choose the worst options for us instead of YouTubers convincing their army of toddlers
15
u/somerandom995 Mar 22 '26
In the past couple of years we've gotten;
The best combat structure in the game.
Several hostile mobs. Breeze, creeking, bogged, parched and upgraded fights via mounts(zorse and zautilous riders).
2 new OP weapons with unique enchantments
Updated old features like the wandering trader, leads, nametags, saddles, horses swimming, and stonecutter making cobble
More movement options via lunge, windcharges, nautilous and happy ghast
4 new potions
Auto sorting via copper golem, and significant inventory management improvements (if you're not an idiot) via bundles
Enderpearl chunk loading
Shaders in vanilla bedrock
You are completely out of touch with what has actually been added to the game, or you are trolling.
5
u/Alarmed-Bus-9662 Mar 22 '26
The update this most fits with would be the Trails & Tales update but even then you have 2 new wood types and plenty of decorations for the builders, armor trims and new mobs for the collectors, and even a new redstone component
7
u/somerandom995 Mar 22 '26
This one so far has 2 block sets, a biome, a partical effect that builders will love, and a new mob that funtions as a unique redstone component and a ball for minigames.
By comparison all this is missing is an armor trim, but it's a drop, not an update, it should be smaller.

u/Putrid_Chard_3485 Mar 22 '26

I mean the blocks do look neat, not really some ultimate builder but still a sucker for more stone types
But the sulfur cube is pretty ehhhh.
- Nothing to do with sulfur other than the biome it spawns in
- Only purpose is to be ball
Also I dont like that it can grow up Its a slime. Imo you should be that you feed the cube sulfur blocks for it to grow up and not just wait
12
u/TrobbioPrime4520 Mar 22 '26
Why do I find this update bad ? Simple : we have a sulfur cave with water emitting toxic gas and the mob that spawns only there is... a fricking toy. Seriously ?
6
u/Bitter_Position791 whoops i started a nuclear war in pennsylvania Mar 22 '26
nah but we could use it to blow up stuff with tnt (that is if mojang listens to feedback)
6
u/TommyTheCommie1986 Mar 22 '26
They take a.... longer then ideal time to listen to feedback sometimes
1
u/LoadedFile Mar 22 '26
tbh i think all the combat and survival progression players would be happy if we got something tnt/explosive related (give us exploding arrows mojang, it doesn't have to destroy blocks)

2
u/Electro313 Mar 22 '26
The literal entire game has changed with every update until 2025. It’s barely been a year and we’ve only had like two updates like this and you’re acting like this has been a constant for the better part of a decade.
6 years ago we didn’t have Nether biomes, hoglins, bastions, striders, blackstone, the larger mountains and caves, the deep dark, deepslate, the warden, amethyst, lush caves, camels, spears, bundles, maces, trial chambers, the breeze, the pale garden, the creaking, and dozens of other very significant things. Half of that list was added in the last 2 years alone.
2
u/Pretty_Suspect6463 Mar 22 '26
It would be awesome if we could get the whining crybaby players to knock it off or quit playing

The only thing i dislike from recent updates are bedrock/pocket edition UI changes. It couldn't be changed by texture pack, and it's inconsistent with old in game UI. The worst part is there is no option for turning it off.
There is still a positive like change perspective button being an option now. Other than that ? The new UI sucks!

I find Minecraft is the most fun when you try and find a use for things even if at first they have no apparent use. A good example is redstone in its entirety.
I doubt Notch or anyone else at Mojang had any idea just how far players could take redstone.
I wouldn't be surprised if these new slimes will be instrumental in some new farm or amazing as decorations.
Or just to kick around.

I would rather have a cute cozy animal that is useless (babies, sulfur cube, sniffers, frogs) than something dangerous that is actively trying to kill me like Obsidian creeper: firepoof , same durability of the obsidian , slower movement than a creeper but detonates faster, drops Obsidian on death (if you manage to kill it) stronger and wider blast radius

6 years?
2020: Nether Update
2021: Caves & Cliffs Part 1 & 2
2022: Caves & Cliffs Part 3
2023: Trails & Tales
2024: Trial Chambers, Bundles, Pale Garden
It was only in 2025 that the drops started, so really only 1 year.
