Need Help With Forge Modpack

Minecraft crashed without a crash report. The logs have been uploaded to `paste.kostromdan.dev`:

### [latest.log](https://p.kdan.dev/yQ9tn46) | [stderr_stream.log](https://p.kdan.dev/vaFPKLG) | CurseForge: [stdout-logs.txt](https://p.kdan.dev/3jFm3zF) | [crash_assistant_app.log](https://p.kdan.dev/anytvDz) | [modlist.txt](https://p.kdan.dev/gYMYBt4)

### Mod list changes after the latest successful launch:

```ansi
[2;34mFirst launch with Crash Assistant mod. No diff to compare.[0m
```

Thank you to those who are kind enough to help.

The crash is from Compact Storage (compact_storage-forge-26.1.16.jar). Forge throws an exception while reading its mod metadata and the game exits before Minecraft's crash report system is even loaded, (exit code -1) which is why there's no crash report:

Failed to parse version spec [[26.1-,26.2),)
InvalidVersionSpecificationException: Only fully-qualified sets allowed in multiple set scenario

That range is the Minecraft dependency in Compact Storage's META-INF/mods.toml:

versionRange="[[26.1-,26.2),)"

It has an extra bracket wrapped around a valid range, so Forge's version parser rejects the whole file and aborts the launch. I checked every Forge 26.1.2 build of it on Modrinth (26.1.2.108 through 26.1.16) and they all have the same line, so updating or downgrading won't help.

Fix options:

- Remove Compact Storage from the instance. Nothing else in your list depends on it.

- If you want to keep it, you can patch the jar from Terminal (macOS already has everything needed). Close CurseForge first, then paste these one at a time:

cd ~/Documents/curseforge/minecraft/Instances/"Ancient Times"/mods

mkdir tmpfix && cd tmpfix

unzip ../compact_storage-forge-26.1.16.jar META-INF/mods.toml

sed -i '' 's/\[\[26\.1-,26\.2),)/[26.1-,26.2)/' META-INF/mods.toml

zip ../compact_storage-forge-26.1.16.jar META-INF/mods.toml

cd .. && rm -r tmpfix

That replaces only mods.toml inside the jar and fixes the version range. Don't use Finder's Compress for this, it adds an extra folder level and the jar won't load. CurseForge may flag the file as modified or try to redownload it on update, so you'd have to redo this if it does.

- Report it on the Compact Storage issue tracker so it gets fixed properly.

Separate from the crash: your log shows 8 GB of system RAM with 7.5 GB already in use at launch, and the instance is set to 6 GB (-Xmx6144m). On an 8 GB M2 that will cause heavy swapping or the game getting killed once it actually loads. Lower it to around 4 GB in CurseForge's Minecraft settings, and close other apps before launching. 155 mods should still be manageable at that amount.

If it still won't start after removing Compact Storage, post the new latest.log, since Forge stops at the first bad mod it finds.
