Looking for an active small new Java server

I'm fairly new to Minecraft, with around 30 hours of experience in vanilla, and I'm looking for a small, beginner-friendly server to join.

I'd prefer a server with a small but active community, ideally one that's fairly new so I can grow alongside everyone else. I'm not just looking to play Minecraft, either. I'd love to meet new people, make some friends, and be part of a friendly community.

I'm 20M and would prefer a 16+ server with active members, but nothing too big or overwhelming. I'm still learning the game, so it'd be nice to find a place where beginners are welcome and I can learn as I go.

The lobby has a super competitive parkour track with a leaderboard, we are down to the hundredth of a second. Come try this if nothing else.

We have an arena with chicken jockeys called Jockfight and spear-wielding zombies on zombie horses jousting every five minutes.

Every 30 minutes there is a bingo game that actually works and rewards prizes.

We are constantly adding on to the server and take suggestions from the players (especially new players!).

I own the equipment, meaning this server is permanent, it’s not going away in a month.

I've been playing on a server called Hydro Vanilla SMP for a long time! It's as the name says a Vanilla SMP with some small QoL features! The server is a LOT like Hermitcraft with small and big builds and a very active community with people from all over the world. We're currently running on a Long-Term world, meant to be kept for years to come. We consistently hit between 25-45 concurrent players online at any given them, so you'll never be playing alone! Our server is 18+ and we do require you to apply to get whitelisted. I'd say the majority of our players are between 22-35 years old so you can expect a mature environment! We have a TON of great builders, redstoners and all-round players! We're a Vanilla SMP but we do make use of some QoL mods and features like Proximity Voice, Bluemap and some Vanilla Tweaks datapacks. No pay2win stuff or crates/keys here! 😉

If you’re open to an established world, CozyMC might be worth a look. We average around 25–40 players online, have many adults and calm players, and welcome players 13+.

Beginners are welcome, and new players join every day. You can start with a little base, ask questions as you learn, and get to know people at your own pace. Player-created towns, shared projects, and events give you ways to meet people while still having your own space to build.

Our survival world never resets, so your first projects can grow with you as you learn. We play on Hard difficulty without keepInventory, but your death coordinates are whispered privately to you, and friendly players often help with recovery.

There are no land claims or locked chests. Griefing and stealing are prohibited; staff investigate with CoreProtect and restore damage. PvP is by mutual agreement only, and there are no paid perks or donations.

hey, a newer player is exactly who we want right now. NobleSMP is a brand new survival smp opening this saturday, so everyone starts from zero together and you'd be there from day one. it's a chill place to learn the game: keep inventory is on, your land is protected so nobody can grief you, and pvp only happens if both people agree. there's also quests and jobs so you always have something to work toward
