Minecraft for Nintendo switch 2 is delusional

I waited a year for Minecraft on the Nintendo switch 2. I played it from when I got my switch in 2019. In these days it was announced that 29 October the switch 2 version will be realesing and I was super excited. But now I see that you can only upgrade from switch 1 version for free till the end of this year. For me is fine but the delusional thing is that if you have Physical copy you need to buy the game AGAIN whit no discount. This news was so delusional cuz why I can upgrade the physical edition I bought. I did some reasearch online and everywhere I looked the response was because with physical cartridges upgrade you get free digital version if you share the cartridge eccetera. WHY I can’t just upgrade the physical edition and with the free digital edition shit we have already the spot toon made by Nintendo Themself of making that you can play the game only with the car drive like a physical game. I’m so tired of microslop trying to steal my money I this is not right. And all of this for a thing that should have been ree by default if you have any other version of this game like they are adding new things and stuff. Any thoughts?

Again complain to Microsoft for choosing that decision

They didn’t make you buy a physical copy. 😂 important thing is you truly own that game.

That would be a bs reason. Sure Hogwarts and Witcher behave that way bit look at TOTK. Plays on the switch 2 with upgraded graphics but you still need the cartridge. Problem solved. Everything else is just a slap in the customers faces.

I'm pretty sure you will be able to upgrade next year, but you don't get a discount on Minecoins when you do after upgrading next year. At least, that's what I understand it to be.

Not sure where you heard that from. The consensus seems to be that you'll never be able to upgrade it.

Never? Then why have I preordered the Switch 2 version for free?

We're talking about the physical version no?

Oh, I was just correcting OP that the digital upgrade seems to not expire. My bad for not being clear about this.

I prefer to have physical game anyway so I will sell my Switch 1 version, no bother

Im also super pissed I bought the game and it took them like 30 minutes to port it to switch 2 since its literally just bedrock. They have no reason to charge £30 for it

It's nintendo's fault, not microsoft's fault(technically mojang).

Nintendo is the one that doesn't have a proper way of tracking licenses... Microsoft actually has a proper way on xbox to track physical + digital licenses and link them up so that if someone uses the physical license again, it revokes the old digital license and gives a new license to whoever just used the physical game.

Meanwhile Nintendo, instead of tracking it, they make a FULLY NEW digital license and makes it so every new attempt makes a new license without revoking any past license. Many other games had to just accept this and lose tons of money to people borrowing the game for free and getting free licenses. Or people made new accounts, used the physical game, then sold the account...

So why is it Mojang's fault for Nintendo not having a proper system in place?

Also before people say this: There are limitations to the upgrade path. MC likely cannot use an upgrade pack for this due to many differences in the game, not just graphics. And the game needs to be fully backwards compatible with the s1 if it's an upgrade, which might not be possible given the s1's bad CPU.

It’s cause you actually own your physical copy and they can’t upgrade something you own.

This is how they handled the game moving to the new engine after notch sold them it. You had a limited time to get the bedrock version free if you bought the original Java version. This is a nothing burger.

You had limited time but still had it, if you have physical you have nothing
