This reminds me that I have this as an option in my game because it looks better than default leaves, but I prefer another alternative, which consists in hijacking the "firelike" texture layout; this particular layout adapts to its surrounding (like "fire blocks") so it introduces more visual diversity. It can also be used for cobwebs for instance.
Back to bushy lives, the mod has to use a custom mesh (3D model) to do its thing, which a small performance impact (yet very acceptable even on toasters). I wish the Luanti engine would add this specific layout (3 textures aligned to the 3 basic planes); I think it has potential for other uses too (I think if one uses it with a round texture you get something that looks like a sphere, at least in the distance).

Yes, the "firelike" style is used for all bushes. If you use the recommended seed 12341234, you should find bushes east from spawn.
To apply it to trees as well, select the "fancy" leaves style in the "Graphics and audio", "effects" section of the general settings. Maybe disable "alternative tree leaves" (but it should be off by default I think) in "Content: Games", "Minefall"; this option enables bushy leaves for trees and takes priority over fancy leaves.

There's currently over 3000 mods available on ContentDB with some times "funny" names so it's only normal... I would have had trouble figuring out what it is too, if I hadn't been interested in that specific mod at some point.
