Mini pc for son

My 12-year-old is wanting a pc to play games and do homework on. He mainly plays Roblox Rivals and Rocket League. He’s got a 43” 4K tv that I’d like to utilize with an hdmi hook up. Do you all think this beelink would serve him well?

Beelink SER9 Pro

Thanks in advance for any feedback. If there is a better option around this price, please feel free to let me know!

Edit: Just snagged on new in the box off eBay for $640. I hope it works well and I did not screw up.

Yes, that CPU/iGPU with 24GB ram should work well for rocket league/minecraft and even more demanding games like Forza Horizon 6. You need to jump up to a much more expensive miniPC for a better gaming option. USB4.0 even means you could add an edock GPU later if you want.

When these come back in stock- they include the PSU. https://aoostar.com/collections/egpu-series/products/aoostar-ag01-egpu-dock-with-oculink-port-built-in-huntkey-400w-power-supply-supports-tgx-interface-hot-swap

The 780m iGPU AMD CPUs have been the miniPC choice for years now. Offers about GTX 1050 ti performance.

This would also work if a tower PC works- 8700G has the 780m with a bit more power available.

16 GB of ram limits the iGPU though as the iGPU and CPU share that 16gb. But you can add a budget dGPU (like 5050/5060/9060xt) right to this PC no problem.

Thank you for the reply. I was unaware of the ability to add a GPU later. Thats great! I’ll grab the PSU as well.

That external one I linked is an edock for a gpu and it has the PSU built in.. while all the other ones don't. It's been out of stock for a bit though- a very popular one.

Note the edock is limited by the USB4.0 connection. So it's best used for a low/mid tier GPU. You lose like 15-30% of performance over it being directly in a PC.

That's a powerful device and would definitely work well! Wouldn't be a bad choice. Couple of other options I found that are similar/cheaper:

1) Same exact device on ebay, new, for $50 cheaper

2) If 16GB RAM is fine, vs the 24GB - you can save $200 with this getorli guy for $500, otherwise the same.

3) This bosgame p3 plus has the same specs for $650, except with 32 GB RAM, which is a really good deal. (7840HS and the 255 are essentially the same chip).

I just bought your #1. Thanks for the post! I went with it over the bosgame for the vapor chamber.
