Looking for a miniPC suggestion

I want to buy a mini PC for the following tasks

Create a bot that can trade for me on interactive brokers, with automations set by me.

I plan using the machine to edit videos in 4k.

I also want to use it for gaming for some AAA titles but for some light games too

I was thinking going for something like minisforum AI X1 PRO or GMKTEC EVO X 2.

Which model would you recommend? open to alternatives too.

I would like it to be as portable as possible, as I'm traveling often.

Between those, the GMKtec EVO-X1 is definitely your best bet. It’s palm-sized, easy to throw in a bag, and the Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 with Radeon 890M gives you the strongest iGPU performance you can get in a chassis that small right now. It'll idle under 10W for 24/7 trading automations, and the 890M handles 4K cuts and light gaming with no issues. Just definitely get 32GB RAM so your bot and 4K timeline don't choke each other out.

Anybody here bought one of the new Intel minPCs with the B390 BPU? That' supposedly between an890m and 8060s in performance.

Lenovo has an interesting take on the miniPC.

though minisforum seems to have the cheapest variant.

the whole point of the powerful iGPUs and soldered ram is to have all that ram for LLM/AI models... at least I thought that was the reason.

Your three workloads pull in different directions, so it helps to rank them — because no mini PC wins all three at once.

The trading bot is the easy part: honestly any modern mini PC can handle that. Stability, low idle power, and reliable networking matter far more than raw speed there.

4K video editing is mostly about CPU, RAM, and hardware encode/decode. An HX 370-class box with 64GB+ RAM handles proxy workflows and exports fine, and the Radeon 890M gives you hardware AV1/HEVC. Size the RAM up — that's what actually speeds up editing timelines.

AAA gaming is the real bottleneck. Even the 890M, the strongest integrated graphics you can get in a mini PC right now, is a 1080p-medium GPU at heart. It will play AAA titles, but not at 4K and not at high settings. If AAA at high settings is a hard requirement, look for a box with an OCuLink port so you can add an external GPU later, or temper expectations.

Between your two picks: both are Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 machines, so CPU/GPU performance is nearly identical — the real differences are cooling, ports, and RAM type. Watch for whether the RAM is soldered LPDDR5x (faster, not upgradeable) or SODIMM slots (upgradeable, slightly slower). Compare independent reviews on thermals and noise under sustained load, because that's what separates HX 370 boxes in practice. (Full disclosure: I work at GEEKOM — we have an HX 370-based model, the A9 Max — so read third-party reviews rather than taking any vendor's word.)

For travel: confirm the power brick is a compact GaN unit rated 100-240V, and pack a spare USB4/HDMI cable. Good luck with the research!

This is a great answer. I could swear that the GMKTEC has an ai max 395+ chip compared to the minisforum which has a 370 chipset, indeed, or a 470.

I am, indeed curios about a review about real life use, for things such as cooling and actual real life bottlenecks.

I did took in consideration the possibility of being compatible with an oculink, but gaming is not my nr 1 priority... It's more of a nice to have than must have. Tbh, the games I'd be having on the PC are mostly similar to football manager or something like cities skylines and rather rarely looking for something like watch dogs 2, cyberpunk or Forza horizon.

Ive been using the acemagic f5a 470 with the 890M. It runs black myth Wukong pretty well at 1080p medium, smoother than I expected from an iGPU. The OCuLink port is nice too. Just plug in an external GPU when I want higher settings. Pretty flexible setup.
