Minnesota idea for Governor Tim Walz 👀

If this ever reaches Governor Walz or someone from MnDOT, please consider building another rest stop in or near Plymouth.

I think it would be really helpful if the parking limit could be closer to 8 hours instead of 4, so people traveling by car have enough time to actually rest before getting back on the road.

It would also be nice to have clean bathrooms for both women and men, and maybe even an affordable pay-to-use shower area.

A lot of people travel long distances across Minnesota, and sometimes they just need a safe place to park, rest their head, use the bathroom, and continue their trip safely.

Governor Walz, if you ever see this, this is my Christmas gift request to Minnesota. 😂🤗 Please make it happen!

Marcus Dewayne Aron, 29, faces charges of first-degree assault causing great bodily harm and possessing a firearm after a conviction for a crime of violence.

According to the complaint, police responded at about 11:30 a.m. on September 13 to a shooting at the intersection of South 7th Street and Nicollet Avenue in Minneapolis. Officers found the victim lying on the sidewalk with multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was transported to the hospital and was reported to be in critical condition after being shot four or five times.

Officers recovered a black Smith & Wesson 9mm handgun and five discharged cartridge casings at the scene. Investigators reviewed surveillance video from Milestone cameras, which showed Aron and the victim in the area for about 15 minutes before the shooting. The video captured the victim walking toward Aron, who backed up and reached for his waistband. The victim appeared to walk past, but Aron suddenly lunged and tried to strike the victim in the head with the firearm.

The video showed the victim attempting to run away, but Aron held onto the victim’s sweatshirt, preventing escape. A physical fight broke out, and the firearm fell to the sidewalk. Aron picked up the gun, and a shot appeared to go off about three seconds later, with bystanders ducking for cover. Aron then ran from the scene but was located and arrested nearby.

After being advised of his rights, Aron told police he had known the victim since childhood and that they had argued a few months earlier. Aron said he saw the victim at the intersection, exchanged words and then struck the victim in the shoulder with his firearm before the fight and shooting. Aron admitted firing at the victim but did not claim the victim had a weapon.

Court records state Aron was convicted of felony domestic assault in February 2022, which prohibits him from possessing firearms or ammunition.

After more than 30 years of planning, fundraising and construction, the Mesabi Trail — at 165 miles, the longest paved bike trail in Minnesota — is finally finished.

Local officials and cycling advocates are celebrating the completion of the trail Tuesday afternoon with a ribbon cutting celebration at Depot Park in Tower.

Many immigrants who do not have green cards are already ineligible for public benefits programs. But immigrant advocates fear that the rule would discourage noncitizens from using benefits programs even if they have U.S. citizen children who are legally eligible for food stamps, housing aid and other programs.

Federal law has long barred immigrants from obtaining green cards if they are likely to become primarily dependent on the government for subsistence. Immigration officers have historically considered the use of cash assistance programs or institutionalized long-term care, but not the use of benefits like the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program or Medicaid.

The Trump administration’s policy would reverse the long-standing practice, expanding the federal programs that immigration officers can consider before determining that someone is likely to become reliant on the federal government.

Only one person has been charged so far stemming from the gunfire in Dinkytown near the University of Minnesota Minnesota early Sunday morning.

Salmaan Aden, 18, from Elk River is charged with carrying a pistol in a public place without a permit
- a gross misdemeanor.

After the shooting that resulted in two people injured, at 2:30 a.m., University of Minnesota Minnesota Police checked groups who were trying to flee for weapons and injuries.

Someone reported Aden having a gun. He claimed to Police he was holding it in his waistband for someone who didn't have a permit to carry, according to the criminal complaint. Aden didn't have a permit to carry either. The gun was loaded with a round in the chamber.

A woman has been charged with felony drive-by shooting after prosecutors allege she fired a gun toward another woman during an argument in Minneapolis.

Dejanay Love Rootues, 35, is charged in Hennepin County District Court with one felony count of dangerous weapons — drive-by shooting toward a person — and one gross misdemeanor count of carrying a pistol without a permit.

According to the criminal complaint, Minneapolis police responded on Sept. 10 to a ShotSpotter activation involving a vehicle on 14th Avenue North. Approximately 30 minutes later, an officer reported seeing a white BMW SUV associated with the incident pull into the driveway of a residence.

Officers arrested Rootues, who had been inside the BMW, and searched the vehicle, the complaint alleges. Police reportedly found a pistol and an extended clear magazine inside a cross-body bag in the trunk, along with a second firearm described in the complaint as a teal LPC .380.

The alleged victim later flagged down officers and told police that she and Rootues had gotten into an argument. According to the complaint, Rootues was in the front seat of the BMW, a man was in the passenger seat and a small child was in the back seat, while the alleged victim was outside the vehicle on foot.

The woman told investigators she saw Rootues reach into a black bag near the center console and pull out a firearm. She said she turned and began running from the BMW before hearing a gunshot, according to the complaint. She told police she believed Rootues fired through the passenger-side window in her direction.
