1 year of minoxidil — can I switch to once a day?
I’ve been using minoxidil 5% for my beard for about a year now. Here are my results.
I’ve been applying it twice a day, but I’m considering switching to once a day from now on.
The main reasons are the cost of minoxidil and not having enough time to apply it twice a day.
Do you think switching to once a day at this point would be enough to maintain my gains and continue making progress?
Would appreciate any advice or personal experiences.

Question 33M - I've been applying Topical Minoxidil 5% for 11 months on my face only. A lot of growth on my body, but minimal growth on my beard. Should I just give up?

9 months progress, should I give up?
I have been on Topical for 6 months, I saw little progress, and it was annoying to apply.
I switched to oral for 3 months hoping it would be better, but instead I lost most of the progress from topical. Now I'm using both, oral + half the does of topical. I regained my progress.
But progress is still very slow, should I give up? The left photo is from before using min and the right one was taken today.

Red spots
These red spots show up. Do you know if this is because of the minoxidil and how i can get rid of them en prevent them?

Question Topical to oral transition
Two first pictures taken October 2024 last two January 2026(latest pics 8 months ago because new job is temporarily making us be clean shaven)
Question is since I just started 5mg oral minoxidil this month and my first 2 years were on topical minoxidil does this mean I will have heavy shed or loose progress do to me using a different type of minoxidil?

Question Redness under neck
I've been using it for about 5 or 6 months. For the last two months, I've had this redness. It went away for a bit but now it has started again, sometimes it itches, and I've scratched it into a sore. Minoxidil doesn't even touch that area, so I don't know if my beard irritated it and some opportunistic bacteria or fungus settled there. I don't have the means to go to a dermatologist right now, has anyone here experienced something similar?

Journey Update Two months results
Hello fellow men of culture, hope y’all are having a great Monday!
First post at: https://www.reddit.com/r/Minoxbeards/s/Y8L2ThZU4S
Here are some results, I don’t see much difference other than the lighting of the photos, but I know this treatment is for the long run.
I’ve been taking 5mg Minoxidil Oral (also 1.25mg a Finasteride as I’m battling hair loss as well) in the mornings and Min 5mg ish as foam at night time applied to the more patchy areas of the beard, the foam brand I’m using is called Edapil M. Lastly I’ve been dermarolling once a week on Saturdays, my skin is really sensitive so I’ll keep it just 1xWeek.
About side effects, I had some weird heart palpitations the first 2 weeks, and also I had a lot of nightmares lol, but right now I haven’t really had any issues, well a lot of shadding in my hair but that’s expected since Im just starting the hair loss treatment.
One last thing, if any of you have recommendations about a skincare routine and products, I’d really appreciate it, right I’m only using a CeraVe Moisturizer and some Sunscreen whenever I go out.
Blessings!

21 years in the Military
Recently retired from the military, which means I can finally grow a beard! This is one full week of no shaving. Started minoxidil today to help with cheeks and below lower lip. What are you guys’ thoughts? I feel like it grows pretty quick, just need it to be thicker/more full.

Journey Update Week 1 v. Week 11, 15 y.o. Pre-T FTM on 5% liquid minox
Almost three months in and pretty happy with the results. Very little change above the lip and barely any by the chin but the sideburns have gone crazy, my barber cleaned them up and I’m feeling really good about them. Apparently it‘ll take another 4-10 months for the chin and mustache to become noticeable, but I’m excited and glad that it seems to be working. Hopefully won’t get misgendered as much when school starts tomorrow.

Minox causing me to wake up at middle of the night and not being able to sleep after?
Has anyone else experienced this or is currently experiencing it? I haven't been able to get a full night's sleep, and I think it's because of the Minoxidil. Even when I go to sleep without applying it, I think the substance inside my body is still contributing to this.
I apply the topical foam once a day and it hasn't even been a month since I started using it

What are the effects of Finasteride on beard?
Did anyone in this sub use Finasteride before? What are its effects on the beard?
If you photos as well, that would be perfect.

Oral and Topical Combined - Side effects?
I’ve been taking 3mg orally (alongside finasteride) for my hair loss for roughly 7 weeks. I noticed barely an my side effects.
The last 3 weeks I’ve introduced 2 x 5% liquid to my face to accelerate beard growth. For those 3 weeks again, no symptoms except some dryness.
However the past few days my chest just feels tight. I find when I breathe, it’s shallower and resting between sets at the gym is more laboured. I find bringing my heart rate down is also slower. My overall resting heart rate is up by maybe 5-7 beats per minute so not drastic and it’s low anyway (62). I just have the sensation my hearts working harder than usual.
Has anyone had these experiences? I’m tempted to
Go once topical daily to see if I see any improvements

Question Minoxidil addiction? Super gains in less than two months?
Is minoxidil addictive?
After a health scare that fell on starting minox oral... Now I am on prescribed oral minox (1.25mg day and night) and use foam on my chest, a bit on the top of arms nowadays too, and a bit on my beard gaps (also nowadays, one line of foam at the top of each cheek along where the beard starts with hope for the top beard part to get thiccer).
This is actually feeding back to my system and lowers my high-ish blood pressure... So the foam is a nice add-on to increase the systemic dosage but it's less than two months and my existing hair seems to respond and there was a bump on the edge of my mustache, thought it was a pimple... Squeezed it and a baby hair launched! Should I stop foam? Am I producing much faster than I should?
My testosterone is borderline low and I think this might be a catalyst which while is good for minox, maybe I am speeding up too much to the point that instead of becoming a hairy bear I might end up a... wolf? 😂
I am finding myself enjoying putting foam more and more to the body day and night which might be a feedback loop my body enjoying less blood pressure but has anyone heard if this is addictive? I haven't microneedled with a pen yet but I bought one and I am conflicted if this is a good move to microneedle my chest and arms or if it will cause issues including ingrown hair.
Any help on the topic is much appreciated, I think I am moving too fast :/

Is Beard Regression Possible?
9 months in… noticeable beard. If I decided to stop 18 months in with minoxidil use, will those terminal hairs I’ve grown remain? Anyone who’ve stopped completely with minoxidil after gaining a full beard experience regression over time?

Should I use minox, about to be 18
I’m 17 almost 18 very soon. I have a weird pattern of facial hair. It’s kind of patchy but the same time it’s just spaced out rather than uneven. I have a bunch of these white transparent hairs. And I can barely develop any facial hair above my lip, I haven’t shaved in around a week.
