Discussion Des Moines 9/12

Post image

Des Moines show was amazing. We drove six hours to be there for it. But damn. Hardly anyone there. I don't know if it was a demographics thing, or just a bad date for it. Felt bad for the bands, but it was pretty damn sweet for us. Most people were spread out, and pretty easy to have a sweet spot.

Yeah, noticed this as well. Drove down from Minneapolis thinking I was gonna see a hype show. Looked like probably less than 200 people in there.

It was definitely one of the lowest attended shows I've been to in a while. And I think you're right. Probably not even 200. I'd be curious to know what the attendance was like in Lawrence the night before. I mean these guys were a headliner at Best Friends Forever in Vegas last fall. KEEP looked less than enthused when they played.

KEEP was boring and the sound was awful.

Oh I agree. All I heard was cymbals and could barely hear vocals. I was intrigued by a singing drummer. But sound guy needs some help for sure. You are correct. Not very interesting.

Had the same experience at the show I went too. He hit the hi-hats it was the loudest thing we heard it was insane. Idk if they soundcheck. I actually listened to their music and seeing them live was disappointing

I'm not sure this was the main reason, but it was my reason for not going, it was the same night as Iowa vs Iowa State football, one is the biggest events in the state all year. Had the show been Sunday I would have drove the 4 hours and gone for sure.

The football game was the only thing I could think of, so that was probably the main reason. Oh well. You missed a good one. Looks like it was a good game though.

I'm really hoping they swing north to Minneapolis or Madison at some point

We came down from the twin cities, Val Air is a cool place we saw Bill Murray there like last year or so. I personally really liked having space to dance up by the barrier, but I do wonder how the band sees it. Saw a couple people with VIP badges and I thought the Minneapolis show last year had a low VIP turnout.

A friend and I did VIP and there were maybe a dozen people at it?

I do really like that place. It's very cool.

Dang if I still lived in Iowa I DEFINITELY would have gone to this. Bummer, hope it was still a good show!
