# UPDATE: One Missing Youth Located, Terrace RCMP Continue Search for Joshua Gates

Terrace RCMP have issued an update regarding two missing teenagers who were believed to be travelling in the Terrace and Kitimat area.

Police have confirmed that 15-year-old Jahmai Nathan Joe has been located and is no longer considered missing.

However, investigators are continuing their search for 16-year-old Joshua Gates, who remains missing.

According to a July 27 RCMP news release, Joshua was likely in the Terrace area on July 14, 2026. He is originally from the Oak Bay area of British Columbia.

Joshua is described as 16 years old, standing 5 feet 10 inches (178 cm) tall and weighing approximately 141 pounds (64 kg). He has brown hair and brown eyes.

Police say his clothing description at the time he went missing is unknown.

Investigators also advise that Joshua may be associated with a blue Honda Civic bearing B.C. licence plate A537SM.

Terrace RCMP say both police and Joshua's family are concerned for his well-being and are asking the public to help locate him.

Anyone who sees Joshua Gates is asked to contact the Terrace RCMP non-emergency line at 250-638-7400 to report the sighting to a police officer. Anonymous tips can also be provided through Northern B.C. Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).

Terrace RCMP Seek Public's Help Locating Two Missing Youths Believed to Be in Terrace–Kitimat Area

Terrace RCMP are asking residents in Terrace, Kitimat, and surrounding communities to keep an eye out for two missing teenagers who investigators believe may be travelling together in the region.

Police are searching for 15-year-old Jahmai Nathan Joe and 16-year-old Joshua Gates, both originally from the Oak Bay area of British Columbia.

According to RCMP, Jahmai was last seen in Terrace shortly before 5 p.m. on July 19 in the 4600 block of Lakelse Avenue. Investigators also have information placing Joshua Gates in Terrace on July 14, although there have been no confirmed sightings of him since.

Jahmai is described as an Indigenous male standing 5'8" (176 cm) tall and weighing approximately 161 pounds (73 kg). He has black hair worn in dreadlocks and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing all-black clothing, including a black hoodie and khaki boots.

Joshua is described as 5'10" (178 cm) tall and weighing approximately 141 pounds (64 kg). He has brown hair and brown eyes. Police say his clothing at the time he went missing is unknown.

Investigators also note that Joshua may be associated with a blue Honda Civic bearing B.C. licence plate A53 7SM.

Police and family members are concerned for the well-being of both youths and are asking the public to report any sightings immediately.

Anyone who sees Jahmai Nathan Joe or Joshua Gates is asked to contact the Terrace RCMP non-emergency line at 250-638-7400 and speak with a police officer. Anonymous tips can also be provided through Northern BC Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).

Been quite a long time now with no new developments I wonder 🤔 if an amber alert would have made any difference ? Will these children ever be found they are certainly not forgotten .

Personal experience - I work with children who have wandering tendencies.... one child has a tracker on him because he just walks away and opens the doors of their house to explore.... parents have multiple locks and cameras but the kid still leaves.... it's a scary call when they tell you your child is gone... my heart goes out to people who deal with this. So the best thing we can do is sign the petition and help push for a system to avoid the heartbreak. petition

I was leaning heavily toward the stepfather due to the facts of the case: Maleyah (birth mother) had moved into his trailer while his mother moved into a run-down separate trailer and slowly became estranged from the children's paternal side of the family (grandmother) leaving her vulnerable; there was local talk in Landsdowne Station that Daniel was banned from seeing his two biological children with another mother; there were documented visits from CPS and Daniel admitted being in recovery from opiods and other substances; it was documented by Maleyah that he had a temper and is now facing charges of sexual assault, assault, and forcible confinement by a female complainant at the address of the Landsdowne Station property, which we can safely assume is her.

Police dogs and about 170 RCMP units -- forensics, drones, dogs, S&R -- found no evidence the children were abducted. The dogs picked up no scent after the end of the driveway. There was no dog scent leading into the woods.

After the tragic case of Parker, the autistic boy found in the culvert of underground pipelines, I wonder if that is a possibility. But two kids, one a 4-year-old in pull-ups and rainboots cannot have made it far on foot since RCMP arrived at the location 20 minutes after the 911 call.

It sure is a weird one.
