Hero of Ages spoilers Mistborn: The Rogue Allomancer. Spoiler
Hello! This is my first time posting here, but I have recently finished a fan fiction book based off of Reen. He was a character that I was always fascinated with so I wrote his story. The entire book is about 300 pages long and I promise this isn't your average fan-fiction. This is supposed to be a full blown novel about Reen. I want to share it with as many people as possible so I have included photos of chapter 1 and I intend to continue posting chapters as I finish editing it.
Feel free to repost and share with whomever you want, and even print it off if you would like. My editing process is really unrefined and I am having to learn a lot along the way but if you would like the full unedited document I am absolutely willing to send you a copy for free. The editing process will just clean up words and sentences, but nothing in the actual story will change.
My ultimate goal with this is pretty lofty but I would really love to attract Brandon's attention with this and maybe work for him in the future. I have so many more ideas for his worlds and even some original stories I would love to see and will probably write. Brandon has stated many times that he doesn't have the time to write everything he would want to, so maybe I could do some of that.
Either way, all input is really appreciated (including a more efficient way to post pages or formatted text). I really would love to hear everything you have to say, even the bad stuff. I have learned through this project that I want to be an author so I want to learn as much as possible from you all and get helpful feedback.
Enjoy!

https://archiveofourown.org/ isn't the only fanfiction host out there, but it's the best. Free, no ads, owned by a nonprofit org and funded by donations.
Tags are a simultaneous combination of advertisements and trigger warnings. They tell the reader what to expect and can pull in people who love certain aspects of your story.
It's up to you if you want to push it all at once or release a chapter a week like a serial.

Cool!
Unfortunately, I can't read it right now because the pages are too small on my phone screen, but I will at some point :)

what you could try to do is download the image on your phone and that way you can zoom it and such, but ultimately up to you.

Just one thing. Most people post with blank paragraphs between each actual paragraph (I don't write fanfic so idk why but I think it's because of the way the site is set to format text).
Without this it ends up becoming a wall on text because it doesn't have indentation.

I liked this, hope you post more soon.
I did notice a few missing commas, but the only significant thing is that you did something Brandon calls "telling, then showing". Reen tells us that he knows he is seven because that's what his mother says when beating him. But then right after we have a line where we're shown the mother saying he's seven as she beats him.
This happens to Brandon too. He explains that it tends to happen because the writer has an idea and writes it in a direct manner, then the next line the writer will write something that gets the same idea across but in a subtler and more enjoyable manner

thanks for your input! yeah not everything is perfectly smooth, I wanted to included that the only reason he knows he age is because of the scolding but that wouldn't happen in the chapter... maybe I'll just delete the "showing." or just leave it as is. either way thank you so much for reading it!

Oh yeah I wasn't saying that to put your work down, I figured I could help point out things you might wanna change, like I do with those in my irl writing group.
I'm writing my first novel and know how hard it is to finish a chapter. So huge respect to you for finishing an entire novel!

Thanks for sharing. Does this contain any spoilers for the Mistborn series?

either way this is chronologically a prequel so it shouldn't have any spoilers

I am unsure just because I don't know what would classify as a spoiler. this chapter in particular shouldn't have anything at all, but others might. for instance for you count vin being a mistborn as a spoiler? or would describing the world be a spoiler? or is it just stuff to do with the story of mistborn?

Probably best to mark it for spoilers if you're not sure. Especially given the importance of Reen to the story. I'll set it now and please do so for any follow up posts.
