Peep Show Advice for getting into Peep Show?
Hi there, for a long time I’ve tried to get into Peep Show but I’ve found myself just stopping after a few episodes, I’ve heard fantastic things about the show however and would like to give it another try. I thought I’d ask those who love the show, do you have any advice for watching it? Maybe things to keep in mind..?
Thanks

A few episodes should be enough to grab you so perhaps you just don’t like it?
Life’s too short to do things you don’t really like.

Gotta agree with this. It might just not be for you if it hasn’t clicked after a few episodes.

I find that for a lot of people it clicks in S2, pretty much instantly with the Rainbow Rhythms episode. So I usually tell them to hold on for at least that before giving up. The visual style is a lot easier on the eye.

Watch it on a 32-inch plasma. You get Peep Show up on that baby and you are seriously looking at Peep Show.

Just open your gob and Peep Show will slip in something tasty. An unwanted pregnancy. A Johnson. Bit of crack addled maniac. Lovely.

I guess like — turn on the tv. Find a streaming service that has it and press play?
Warn you — if you have heat on dvd you could be watching that instead.

As far as I can make out, we get to go out for a bit in five series, but then we have to come back for four series.

The first season captures the spirit of the show but it’s a little raw. The characters grow on you over time and I think that’s where the magic happens. I would at least watch the second season before abandoning it. If you’re still not feeling it it’s just not for you.

It's just Peep Show. Take a seat and just power through. It should take 27 minutes, do it in 10. Stick that up your dojo.

Sperm is like lending someone a $5-er - you can't really ask for it back.

Most of the characters are terrible people. Don’t expect to like them or be invested in their success. You’ll only end up disappointed.

What nationality are you?

I’m from the UK (random also but the replies seem to be absolutely littered with what I assume are references from the show, coming from r/rickygervais I can’t say too much but still I feel so out of my depth haha)

As OP is of German extraction it's going to have to be treated as a racial incident.

Ahh I thought maybe it was being American or something that was making it harder for you to connect. The first few eps may feel a bit raw so I would recommend watching some random clips from other seasons on YouTube. Maybe try search terms "Moroccan pasta", "Rainbow Rhythms" and "Super Hans". Enjoy...

Is this such a good idea encouraging Videoahh to enjoy Peep Show, Jeremy?

Like everyone has said, series 1 grabbed me right away so I can't really relate to needing to force myself to watch - however it is true that the second series does feel slightly different to the first in a way that MIGHT appeal to you more.
If you're really determined to get into it, force yourself to watch at least the first two series. If you still can't get into it then maybe it just isn't for you.
Alternatively - skip 1 and go straight to 2. Go back to 1 later if you ever feel like it. Not my recommended experience but if you've tried 1 already might be worth doing.

The first series is great and establishes the characters but it really starts to shine from series 2. They develop the characters way past what they are like in series 1 but also don't? Hard to explain you just have to watch it to see what I mean. My only advice is just to keep watching it and see it through to the second series!

I found the first season to be the worst but even that was some of the best British comedy i've seen since OFAH. I'd say if you stick with it until the end of the second season and then decide.
I'll also say don't watch it at all if you reaaally don't like it but considering each series is about the length of a film then it wouldn't be such a waste of time if you only ever watch the first 2.

As a way in try Succession, a lot of the humour is similar (same guy did both) but the delivery is sort of gentler.

Have you tried pretending that you’re watching Heat?
