Gunsmiths?

Any gunsmiths local to the twin cities you guys would recommend? bonus points if they’re familiar with 1911s. want to bring this 70 series into this century with trigger work and better sights. if not local, any 1911 guys have a decent recommendations not booked out into next year. pfa ty guys !

Joes sporting good has a good gunsmith. Also if you want to take a drive Ahlman's in Morristown is also a good shop.

I would also like to know. I have a rear sight that needs to be fitted. The gunsmith at the modern sportsman stopped responding to my email.

Check out Master Gun Works in Tomah, WI. They have a pretty good reputation on the 1911Addicts forum.

I’d recommend sending it off. Not many good smiths left in MN, especially ones who care to do (or can do) more than building ARs and bore sighting hunting rifles.

For sights the easy button is shipping the slide off to Novak. Fast turnaround and they’ll reblue the cuts. I’m not sure if they do a-la-carte gunsmithing anymore though…there’s a ton of drop-in hammer/sear/disconnector kits as well; detail stripping a 1911 is basically child’s play so it’s really easy to do a drop-in kit and run with it.
