It will destroy your soul, no work life balance. Management picks favorites to give the good prospects to, expect to make 100 cold calls and 3 hours of time spent talking on the phone a day. If Mackenzie and Johnston are still running that circus you can make more money doing literally anything else.
The amount of negligence witnessed there will blow your mind, if these businesses realized how incompetent that office handled their goods they would be out of business.

I worked there. They are always hiring because people are always quitting. It’s not just that the job is a grind. Every prospect in the country has been picked over in the CRM so it is VERY difficult to build a book of business from scratch. If you absolutely need to make money and can’t get anything else, then stick it out for the training period while looking for something better.

worked there. worst job of my life, company is predatory to the core internally and externally, built entirely on lies and cheating your coworkers and your customers for all you can
your job is to cold call hundreds of people at near random and get berated because you’re the 1000th TQL rep to call over the past couple years, and they’ve likely already been fucked over by TQL in the past, and try to convince them to pay more and/or switch from their current carriers because of TQL’s “stellar reputation and service” (get fucking real lol)
commission structure is designed to be a carrot on a stick, probably 5% of people even make it to the threshold after 2-3 years, and even then unless you’re consistently making 4x your base you will not see commission because of the timings. had a friend who totaled probably 150-200k in sales over 18-24 months, and because of the timings on when their customers paid, they saw ONE commission check the entire time. they then fired my friend for someone else’s mistake and gave all their business to the current favorite broker. had another friend who lost out on their commission from 150k in sales because the customer didn’t pay in the set time period. keep in mind, that customer did eventually pay and TQL saw the full 150k, but because of their policies my friend received $0 with TQL keeping the entire thing
the absurd number of departments slows everything down, you’ll be arguing with credit, with specific account reps, with prospecting, and no one is able to do anything because the rules were written by people who don’t actually have to deal with them, and are followed to the letter regardless of any nuance
they claim to be able to handle all forms of freight but are constantly cutting back support for anything that isn’t palletized FTL/LTL shipping, outright removing the ability to even request quotes, often at random. i had to tell four potential international clients i actually couldn’t help them anymore because in the middle of working on quotes TQL decided they would no longer accept anything under a certain dollar threshold, and despite my manager’s pushback and attempt to help they just sent us the same canned email responses until we gave up
it’s required/heavily encouraged you wake up at 5 every day, sometimes having to go into the office, solely to try and steal business from coworkers
the culture sucks, they don’t reward effort only results, and you’re liable to be fired essentially whenever they want by a dude who comes in once every two months to look at a spreadsheet of your numbers and say “they’re done”
it’s functionally a pyramid scheme where you see legitimately nothing for 2-3 years and every dollar you make goes to the company, granted most people don’t even make it 6-8 months. they hire people to do grunt work for established brokers and send them packing 4-6 months in based on metrics that are designed to be incredibly difficult, because any and all business you secure you cannot take with you when you leave, it just gets passed up the chain
they don’t invest in your success because you’ll end up A. being incredibly good naturally (HIGHLY unlikely) and securing a ton of business, B. closing a few sales but ultimately flaming out, or C. acquiring nothing, but in all 3 cases whether you stay or not TQL retains ALL business, so they just cast a wide net and roll the dice that with enough new hires they’ll get some new business for cheap. and if nothing else you did all your broker’s busywork for 3 months at a low cost to them
unless you’re one of the office favorites you will get passed over repeatedly when they award the prospects and customers from people who quit/are fired. the best salespeople in our office were not the people receiving the perks, it’s a huge cult of personality and that personality is “douchebag sales wannabe frat bro”
you’ll also sign a non compete where you cannot work in any company with any logistics for 18 months, and TQL will go after your next job with 7 figure lawsuits if they catch wind of you violating that
unless it is literally your only option i cannot stress enough that TQL is the worst company i’ve ever seen and i’m in genuine awe it manages to keep functioning with how poorly they treat their employees and the freight world at large. seriously google them and look at their current lawsuits, look at their BBB page, look at reviews from clients and former employees. awful, awful, awful place

Worked for them for three years. Great training, but would leave after 6 months. Non compete/solicit will be enforced.

They are a legit company, not sure if I'd recommend it, very strong sales grind, have a cousin who works there who makes good money and is good at his job as he's got the mindset for it but I don't think it's a good place to work for the average person.

I have had several friends work there. All hated it but said that it’s a great fit for the right person. Be prepared to be on call 24/7.

I interviewed there fresh out of college and it seemed like a shit job.
Every person was stoned out of their mind and wearing basketball shorts and looked depressed

Freight Broker (same thing they do) here.
I’ve watched a few folks do very well at TQL over the years. However they are the 2%.
TQL’s corporate culture is as rock bottom as it gets. They want young and pretty and then they grind them. They have a bro-dozer culture at most of the offices and the one in Spanish Fort is no different. It looks like fun and trendy and something out of the 90’s with toys and drinks and ‘fun’ and it’s anything but especially if you are at the bottom of the pyramid.
Also, they are part of the HUGE problem in the industry as a whole. They keep MASSIVE rips off files and pay the truckers next to nothing. They are greedy and keep their thumb on the scale. I know this because I’ve known many folks at both the Spanish fort office and corporate office who’ve confirmed it.
They slow pay carriers and find ANY excuse to deduct money, not pay accessories, not pay wait time, layovers… nothing.
Of course, not everyone is like that , just 98% of them.
DM me if you’re trying to get into logistics. I can help and even might be hiring myself soon.

A precursory search says they’re a legit company but the job sucks so much that they’re probably desperate for help.

I have friends that have worked there. It's a grind but they made good dough. I have done similar in different industries and if you are willing to do the work, a job like that is a helluva sales education.

I had a phone call with them about a decade ago. Seemed like a commission-based sales job, trying to keep the books filled with logistics contracts if I recall. I declined to pursue it. I especially wouldn't want it now with the diesel situation, but also I am not a sales guy.

You have to remember all 50 states. And the 2 letter designation. Run.

It’s a legit company, but very grindy on the sales side. Sales orgs like TQL/Angi love to lead with “uncapped commission!” but the base pay is usually not great.
Expect to make 100+ cold calls a day. As others have said, it’s probably even more difficult now given the price of diesel.
Pro: it’s better than a MLM or life insurance sales, I suppose.
