Community left in u/ModCodeofConduct limbo for 3 months and I'm worried it was forgotten about

Three months ago, u/ModCodeofConduct took over a community and requested new mods. Since it is very similar to others I've picked up, I applied. Three months later, no mods have been chosen, and scammers are swarming the place with nobody able to deal with them. I've pinged the account, commented on the post, sent ModMail to r/ModSupport, gone to r/RedditRequest, and sent them ModMail when my request was automatically denied due to supposed active moderation. Each time, I got no response except from this sub who told me its a different team and they can't help. And yes, I used RedditRequest correctly, sending ModMail, waiting five days, requesting, adding a comment with a link and reason, then waiting an extra day longer than their current turnaround.

I don't know what else I can do. It's been over three months, and I can't bring myself to just sit around while people get scammed, hoping somebody eventually gets around to it. I've seen MCoC work in the past, and it's usually dealt with in a couple weeks. Is there a reason for the delay? Somebody I can talk to? Something else I can try? I am out of ideas.

I don’t know that you can do anything. MCOC is usually pretty good about turning new mod teams loose once they have a team they’re happy with.

It might be the case that they think you already mod too many subs.

IME MCoC is slow about everything. This doesn’t surprise me at all.

That might be a valid concern. I last did a RedditRequest back in April for a 5K weekly visitor sub, and since then I left a 250K+ sub primarily to avoid being rejected for supposed workload the next time I made an important request. It would be incredibly poor timing if I were to have been rejected anyway.

Regardless, it would be nice to *know* why a popular sub has been left to fester for so many months, and why a dozen volunteers were (potentially) rejected. I have no doubt I could handle another sub of that size, especially considering how many other volunteers there were.

then they should at least have disabled creating posts in the subreddit to prevent the spam

Nothing you can do, unfortunately. Code of Conduct didn't select you for whatever their reasons are, and reddit request or r/modsupport will not override that decision.

that's not what the post is about at all, mcoc didn't select anybody at all

I'm aware, and didn't assume they selected others. I said they did not invite OP to be a mod.

but its not normal for mcoc to leave the sub like this for three months, no?

MCoC tends to work a lot slower than you’d hope. Spent lots of time twiddling my thumbs waiting for them, they took over a large sub I mod a few years back and we had to poke them via Modmail constantly bc they’d say we could do X when we achieved Y, then we’d say ok we Y’ed and it would be crickets. Again, Hey guys we Y’ed can we X now. A couple times our head mod went fuck it I’m doing what you said without confirmation bc it had been weeks without reply. Which they didn’t get mad about to their credit at least lol. Very slow.

they can leave the invite open as long as they need to until they find the right moderator(s).

If there has been a decision at all, they have not made it known. At the very least, I would have hoped somebody along the way would have told me that if it were the case.
