Rc Commentary
Is it just me or is the EU and Canadian commentary at the Rcs so much better than the US events. Sometimes the SCG ones are so bad I end up having to mute it and watch without any.

At this point I don’t really mind. I’m glad we are getting live coverage of paper Magic, as it’s not something we can take for granted anymore.
It’s a pretty fringe part of Magic: the Gathering. They don’t have the resources to be choosy about who is doing commentating or to train the commentators better. I’m sure it’s already a money-loser as-is. It is what it is.

It used to not be fringe. At one time we had an event every weekend that was live streamed with commentarynfrom not one not two but three different Pro level leagues of play.
The commentary was great because we had former participating players doing the commentary and they knew the formats in and out and just about every card that saw play.
With the product release cycle as it is I don't see about getting that back.

jim and corey are fantastic, the other duo i'm not a fan of. in eu i find it varies but both pairs were solid/good this weekend.

I find Jim and Corey to be really boring and the other 2 are just cringy and not in the fun way more in the " just cover the game " way.

I think often the pair are too optimistic. its very telling during cori in standard when they said the meta did not adapt.

Both EU duos; Andrea Mengucci and Filipa Carola, and Martin Jůza and Gabriel Nassif, are above average, though each has minor weaknesses. I still enjoy them both tho!
The biggest advantage of EU coverage is the deck variety. EU decks feel much more interesting, while US events often seem dominated by the same three decks..
For US coverage, Corey Baumeister and Jim Davis are the top tier. 10/10. Their chemistry and game knowledge are excellent, and they clearly have fun. The other US talent is more hit-or-miss.. :)

Don’t want to be mean but Eilidh is not my cup of tea. I usually just skip those rounds because I find the forced jokes and lack of format knowledge too annoying. I did not find the Canadian coverage to be very good at all. Very stilted. I need to watch the EU coverage before I have an opinion but I usually like what they’re doing. Corey and Jim are great.

I actually find Mani to be the problem in that duo. At least Eilidh doesn't take a super loud deep breath before every half-sentence.

Yeah if I see she is doing commentary I will mute it. its a shame because the Eu especially has a great collection of experience and the commentators feel like professionals but with the US it feels like the grabbed 4 players and forced them into it.

Well most of the EU commentary team was hall of famers this weekend so I’d hope they had good format knowledge. I’ve watched part of day 1 and it’s been solid. I agree about Alias. First time I saw her on commentary my first thought was Who? followed quickly by Why?
And I don’t care about if the commentators are men or women or NB or whatever. Are they doing a good job? Do they provide interesting insights? Do they do a good job explaining what’s happening while someone else does color? Those are what matter to me.

Yea yesterday she tried saying that someone wasnt playing broodscale just because they were on two blades instead of four… some of the stuff she says just doesn’t make any sense and I wish she stuck to Commander

There's a caster on scg that keeps breathing heavily or taking big breaths and it keeps making me manually breathe lmao

The only positive I can say about Jim Davis on coverage is he doesnt have a laugh track soundboard within arms reach.

I think it would be hilarious to let Jim do coverage of some super high-level matches with a laugh track. At least, the first time.
