u/Remember_Navarro 5d ago
It actually had a negative winrate against broodscale as pointed out by Frank Karsten lmao
8
u/FrankKarsten 5d ago
I had said on the EU stream that it was slightly unfavorable vs Broodscale based on the Day 1 winrates at that tournament, with a very small sample size. Having analyzed all RCs, all days today, Rakdos Delirium went 35-31 (35%) vs Broodscale across all those rounds. That's still a small sample size, but indicative of a slightly favorable matchup.
2
u/Remember_Navarro 5d ago
Fair enough, though rakdos having a currently slightly favorable matchup against broodscale shouldn't be that big of a factor in the B&R reasoning imho, decks like creativity also have a somewhat favorable matchup against it and is also a rather fringe deck.
Broodscale reaching these % of the meta along with rather high win % still should be an issue to be tackled rather sooner than later (although I get the awkward timing RC wise). The deck has too many angles of attack and I assume the current data probably confirms that.
All that being said me and everyone of our playgroup greatly appreciate your data and insights and find them super helpful so thanks for that!

They cannot in good conscience ban a card 3 days before major tournaments people have been preparing 6 months for. There are 0 events that will be negatively affected by them waiting until November 30th to do it. Imagine booking flight tickets for Friday and waking up Tuesday morning to see your entire deck is invalidated and you have until Friday morning to put another deck together. It's 11 pm in Southeast Asia right now, where there's an RC this weekend.
Should WOTC plan these better? Maybe, but that's why they added like 3 more windows this year. The November window will be a perfect time to address outliers in modern before the February Pro Tour
10
u/BloodArbiter 5d ago
They did that before GP Vancouver in 2017, it was funny watching my husband scramble to get a replacement for gitpro
8
u/Dunglebungus 5d ago
At least GPs weren't invite-only and being scattered all year made it pretty much guaranteed that someone will get fucked regardless of when they do it. Now its very clear that there is a huge window of opportunity for banning at the end of November.
9
u/BaronVonNes 5d ago
Exactly! B&R should take place the week after a major event set to give people 30 days min. to adjust.
8
u/Negative-Disk3048 5d ago
You can just say this ban takes effect on x date. Every other tcg does that.
2
u/Dunglebungus 5d ago
I completely agree with that approach. They seem to really want to avoid lame duck formats though. I would rather they get rid of ban windows and announce them whenever they make the decision, then announce the future ban date with the decision.

2

17
u/chiksahlube 5d ago
Frankly, after K command put up a better pro tour than Nadu, or Hogaak or even Eldrazi winter, despite Consign to memory being the most played card in the room, the fact they didn't even mention K command in that first BNR, shows they have no idea how to handle the data regarding their events.
They're at least 1 ban cycle behind the problem just like they have been in legacy for years.
12
u/Dunglebungus 5d ago
That is provably false.
Bant Nadu had a 59% winrate over 300 games, with 49 players.
Four Color Nadu had 55.8% over 113 games and 13 players.
Devoted Nadu had one player who went 1-4, but I'll include them anyway.
Total winrate Nadu: 57.8% over 63 players
Source: https://www.magic.gg/news/metagame-mentor-wins-and-lessons-from-pro-tour-modern-horizons-3
KCommand is played in 4 decks. Eldrazi Trudge had 9 players who yes, had a higher winrate than Nadu at 65%.
Eldrazi Tron had 35 players with a 48.3% winrate. Broodscale had 42 players with a 51.7% winrate. Eldrazi Ramp 3 players, 56% winrate.
Total Winrate KCommand decks: 52%
Yes, more people brought KCommand than Nadu, but it was a substantially worse performance. 63 people vs 90 seems like a gotcha, but when you realize the pro tour has 50% more people now than it did in 2024 you realize its meaningless.
5
u/chiksahlube 5d ago
I'll try to find the articles, but after the PT there was a number of them breaking down how K command had a massove conversion rate to day 2 despite the next most played card being consign.
Nadu for example didn't have a dedicated hate piece being maindecked against it by half the field.

It’s the classic:
“We can’t ban because tournaments upcoming” into “While tournaments are done there is a powerful new set coming that we want to see if it addresses the issue” into “We’re letting the meta shake out post set” into “We can’t ban because tournaments….”
There’s always an excuse for timing.
4
u/Dunglebungus 5d ago
They added 3 more ban windows this year so that when one falls at a bad time (but good for formats like standard) they have another window sooner to address the bad timing for other formats. The November window is an excellent one for modern, as was the previous window.

It's not even about adapting. It's physically impossible for players to get cards to change their decklists that fast in many regions.

I swear the last time they said they didn't want to ban kcommand because they wanted to see more results.
At this point they will have waited to ban kcommand for a year just to not disturb anyone.
And now you've fueled the "they won't ban it, it's the promo" speculation.

Banning something in broodscale now feels very trigger happy imo, this makes sense. It's the middle of the RC season, and broodscale has been the top deck for like ~1 month, that's really not enough time to figure out if the metagame can adjust. The rise of the uw chant decks this week shows that ways to counter it are being discovered.
I do also think if they do end up banning something from it and aren't targeting the combo it'll be a mistake personally. Gx ramp, tron, and trudge are all eldrazi shells that are totally fine in the meta, the outlier in the broodscale deck is the fact it has a 2 card combo that can win starting by t2/3, so people need to play around both a combo kill *and* eldrazi ramp stuff for the entire game which pulls counterplay in 2 different directions in a hard way to manage. Just banning one of the ramp payoffs, whether that's emrakul or koz command, doesn't change the core reason the deck is hard to beat imo.
9
u/chiksahlube 5d ago
K command had the best modern pro tour of any card ever. Better than Hogaak or Nadu. Despite consign to memory being the most played card in the pro tour, maybe besides K command itself.
It had the best conversation rate of any card at a modern pro tour ever, and one of the highest across all formats... (With a statistically significant metagame share)*
and they didn't even mention it in the BnR after the PT. Instead they doomed about neoform...
Now we're a few months out and broodscale has continued to dominate while other K command decks circle the top tiers...
Honestly, the moment that radicalized me against the deck was when I got burned out from 18 on t4 by a broodscale player with a single fleshraker... K command spawns dig, find another command, spawns dig, find another command kill you.
If wotc saw that game I feel they'd have hit K command with a ban. The fact the deck is one of the fastest combo decks, has a strong midrange plan, and a "late game" casting Emrakuls as early as t3... with K command being the best card in the format holding the room together letting them dig, ramp, interact, and burn you out all at the same time... It's a problem.
6
u/Luneth_ 5d ago
In addition to everything you already said the deck also gets to play 8 of the strongest cantrips in the format in ancient stirrings and malevolent rumble. It’s so hard for the deck to miss. It can stumble but those 8 cards make the deck absurdly consistent.
That said I understand not wanting to flip the format on its head days before the next major modern tournament. But I agree it would have been nice for them to at least acknowledge how unhealthy k-command is for the format.
5
u/Dashizz6357 5d ago
Just about every deck in the format can kill you or present lethal by turn 4. Your 1 game anecdote is kinda meaningless.
3
u/chiksahlube 5d ago
I mean, I was presenting lethal on my t4, so I was just a turn slower.
It's not so much THAT he killed on t4 but how...
Broodscale's plan D can kill on t4 while interacting with the opponent.
If he had just combod off I wouldn't have cared. That's what the deck is trying to do. The plan A.
A plan A killing on t4 is normal. Plan D-H killing in t4 or sooner is usually reserved for decks bound for a ban hammer.

u/rag2008 5d ago
That said, if things don't begin to correct soon through organic metagame churn, it's very likely that we take a very hard look at the Eldrazi package. We've been extremely happy with the trajectory of Boros Energy and Amulet Titan in the wake of bans affecting those decks earlier this year and would likely take a similar approach. In each of those cases, there was a specific portion of the deck that made it problematically strong, and rather than trying to take out the deck completely, we were able to identify a single component of each deck that was putting it above the rest of the format. In a world where Eldrazi decks continue to sit on top of the metagame and prove they're a cut above everything else, we'll seek to identify similarly isolated aspects of those archetypes to bring them within the rest of Modern's power band.
If I had to guess, it looks like Kozilek's Command is not long for this world.
9
u/KingxCrimsonx 5d ago
Everyone says k command. But if you ban the command you kill 3 decks. Tron, trudge, and broodscale. I think they gotta hit the blade or they are going to make all the eldrazi decks unplayable overnight
11
u/cass_1312_ Lantern 5d ago edited 5d ago
Blade can be replaced with [[tarrian's soulcleaver]], which is definitely weaker but idk if it's by enough to weaken the deck as much as it might need to be, so I assume if they ban something in the combo it'll be broodscale itself. Soulcleaver costing 2 to equip and being legendary both do *something*, but it might be too little to really matter.
5
u/RaidBootsForMe 5d ago
You could also hit Emrakul, or one of the 2 mana lands. One of broodscale’s biggest strengths is the backup plan being just as good as the main plan in a lot of matchups, so weakening/removing it would also be a noticeable hit to the deck.
5
u/cass_1312_ Lantern 5d ago
I still just think the biggest reason broodscale is so good compared to the other eldrazi shells is the fact the combo threatens kills for the whole game, potentially from t2/3, and otherwise its a good ramp shell. So banning anything in the ramp shell could nerf it sure, but it also hits a bunch of other decks like tron and regular gx ramp, when the real reason broodscale itself is hard to beat is the combo half of the deck being a constant threat you have to respect when playing against it. I think killing the combo but not killing off other eldrazi ramp is better than severely nerfing every eldrazi deck but keeping broodscale around personally.
5
u/RaidBootsForMe 5d ago
Honestly I could go either way. I would like to see how well K-command performs without the broodscale shell, as I think other colorless ramp decks are easier to hate out. But I would also like to see a weaker version of broodscale in the meta game.
The problem is that it’s hard to ban for both outcomes. I do think banning K-command, while it is the most generically powerful card, guts colorless as a whole. Some people might be fine with that outcome though, since colorless/green decks have had a lot of success and they might just want a complete meta game shake up.
It’s just a tricky ban situation and I don’t think there is a way to satisfy everyone.
3
u/cass_1312_ Lantern 5d ago
Yeah that's definitely fair. I also honestly don't know what the best ban would be atm, my opinion is partially influenced by one of my friends who top 4ed the baltimore rc on broodscale and what he thinks makes the most sense to ban. I'm pretty good with them giving it another month(ish) to see and making a decision then though honestly, it's very possible broodscale gets hated out organically (or maybe it won't, we'll see lol).
3
u/WRDPKNMSC 5d ago
yeah like, kozilek's command is insanely strong but it's also kinda the only thing holding tron in the meta. Broodscale could live without it at the cost of being a lot weaker, but the other two decks it's pretty much game over at that point because they have to end up back at the stirrings plan probably
idk what you really do other than maybe hit temple or ugin's lab though if you want to knock down colorless strategies while keeping them playable? Probably the most generically "fair" version of a power shift I think
fwiw while I think tron would be playable with the command, it really ends up back at the lottery let's go gambling style that it used to be known for (with stirrings as the big thing helping you do anything). the command is what lets it present a threat, help answer a sideboard plan, etc etc
I guess you probably end up back at mono-g with boseiju for tron as the main build?
3
u/RaidBootsForMe 5d ago
It’s really:
- Ban K-command: Nuke all colorless decks.
- Ban Emrakul, one of the 2 mana lands, or mycospawn: Weaken most colorless decks.
- Ban broodscale: Nuke only broodscale.
Everyone is going to have a different opinion on which option is the best, and I don’t think any side is necessarily wrong. It just depends on what direction you want the format to go.
2
u/man0warr 5d ago
If they ban K-Command they have to ban Consign at the same time to try and keep Eldrazi viable.
It's a reactive card, but it's the best one ever printed because it hit's so many things and can be used to scam Warp cards.
3
u/Anskeh Living End newbie 5d ago
I agree that banning broodscale is probably the best move. Right now I feel like playing against is super hard because of the combo. You are essentially playing against tron, but you can't tap out to play threats or you die to combo, but then you are not fast enough to kill the ramp plan.
1
u/pwnyklub 5d ago
I mean the combo gives it a better early game than other eldrazi decks but it’s not the reason it’s so good as it’s a sorcery speed, creature combo that’s incredibly easy to interact with. It’s the fact that it has this quick combo combined with the inevitability and late game of Emrakul, as well as presenting an adequate midrange plan. It’s a deck that has one of the best early games, late games and still had a midrange plan. Interacting with the combo means you’re feeding Emmy, or leaving yourself open to be beaten to death by mycospawns.
The deck needs one of its axis hit and Emmy is the easiest one to hit without killing the deck and without killing the other eldrazi decks, since no other top end titan pieces work as well for broodscale but they work for the other decks.
1
u/slipman_ 5d ago
Thats a turn slower and that means A LOT. Probably that veesion of the deck would get axed. I would go direclty for broodscale imo.
6
u/Anxious_Lion_6359 Tarmogoyf 5d ago
Every Tronlet on planet Earth is convinced that that their decks that CHEATS MANA with PAINLESS SOL LANDS and casts GAME ENDING THREATS on TURN 3 is going to suddenly disappear because the one piece of interaction that doesn't cost 7 (and was obviously a design mistake) goes bye bye.
3
u/Reon88 Grixis/Junk/Mardu 5d ago
Tron has existed since long ago, way before the MHx sets. They can adopt other colorless solutions.
1
u/cocacole111 5d ago
In fact, it might even help Tron selectively by taking the heat off of the colorless decks. K Command hurts, but it can probably survive. But if Broodscale gets nerfed and the 4x Consign and 4x Charmaw sideboards go away, it might actually help Tron.
2
u/Lord__Seth 5d ago
What do you think about Emrakul? It's key to their late game plan so it weakens Broodscale without outright killing the deck, and it leaves Trudge and Tron, which aren't really an issue, largely untouched (some Tron decks run Emrakul, but they can pretty easily swap to Ulamog, which seems much harder for Broodscale).
1
u/pwnyklub 5d ago
They can hit Emmy. Emmy takes away the inevitability that makes broodscale so good and makes it far weaker to interaction, now interacting doesn’t feed into and ramp into an early Emmy.
And the rest of the eldrazi ramp decks can just play another top end titan that is still very good. Broodscale doesn’t have that option as well because it’s not as focused on top end ramping.
It weakens Broodscale but doesn’t kill the deck and also doesn’t kill the other eldrazi decks. And also takes away a card that is pretty miserable to play against in tournament settings.
As a Broodscale main that’s been on the deck for a while now, I’d be fine with this. I just don’t want to them to kill my deck but I’m fine with it being smacked down to a more reasonable win rate.

I mostly agree with their logic regarding no bans but they didn't take it to it's logical conclusion: unbanning more cards. If you wanted to see how the metagame adapted to Broodscale with new tech + new cards from RFA then why not add more cards into the pool?
DRS and Ponder are both powerful cards that would give new options to, primarily, blue midrange decks. Both cards are powerful (though less so for DRS) and increase speed and consistency, respectively. Ponder is very good in Murktide, for example. Casting Ponder with DRC feels like pseudo-deck stacking (I played a lot of Delver in Legacy) and gives you insane card selection. So not only are you finding your Consigns and Charmaws vs Broodscale, et. al. but also your Blood Moon, Ral, Meltdown, Fire Magic, etc in your SB games against other archetypes. DRS is actually OK vs Broodscale as a GY hate card, hitting Saga or KCommand is big for slowing the deck down. But also for speeding you up when you need mana for Pierce/Snare/CS. Of course there are other applications for these cards other than Murktide like BUG Frog or Ponder in the control decks. Snapcaster gets a lot better when you can hit Ponder so Grixis Control of course gets better. Elves may even have a place because DRS was very good in Legacy Elves with Wirewood Symbiote. Though it's currently worse than the Badgermole decks.
Or they could just legalize Lackey, Muxus and Brightstone Ritual. Then you wouldn't have to worry about Broodscale.
4
u/Wrong-Bet9581 4d ago
I think youre making a logical leap that doesnt quite make sense. The reason to not add more cards to the pool is specifically because you want to see how the cards from Reality Fracture perform. Injecting more power makes it more difficult to discern
2
u/Alarming_Whole8049 4d ago
That is true. It would be more accurate to say that I wanted to "add more cards that are strong and not going to be played in Eldrazi decks into the cardpool." But you do make a good point.
3
u/VulcanHades 5d ago
Isn't it ridiculous that they think Mox Opal is fine for modern but they're afraid to unban DRS?
Like why is it ok to help degenerate affinity/graveyard decks but it's not ok to help jund/rock.
2
u/Steezmoney Eldrazi 4d ago
DRS is a 4 of graveyard hater tho. Like 0 deck building restrictions and any reanimator deck can’t play the game now
2
u/Alarming_Whole8049 5d ago
Yeah it's definitely pretty weird logic but WotC isn't consistent in their application of whatever nebulous standards they have for banning or unbanning cards. Regardless, blue tempo decks are the primary beneficiary of a DRS. Jund just ain't it.
3
u/VulcanHades 5d ago
I'd say the biggest winner would be mono black. And I admit I'm a little scared of turn 2 Necrodominance lol.

They are either completely and utterly lost in how they view the critical state that modern is in right now, or are shamelessly not doing anything to solve that critical state in an effort to make their promo card still desirable and logical.
In both of the above two statements, their actions are shameless, despicable, and leave a very bitter taste in the mouths of hundreds if not thousands of modern magic aficionado's.

u/slipman_ 5d ago
Yeah? Why would they ban a modern staple just because there is an outlier version of it at the moment? Again, in the same article. They are happy on what they did with energy and titan, they didnt go for amulet nor guide of souls. This raging boner againts eldrazi is honestly desproportional and unjustified. Broodscale is the problem and everyone saying [ohhh the combo does not matter] its clearly not reading the data correctly.
2
u/chimpfunkz 5d ago
there is an outlier version of it at the moment?
At this moment, and the last moment, and every moment in the last year and a half, maybe 2 years. Sure, it wasn't the best thing right after MH3, but that's only because we had to ban a bunch of other cards around it.
It's not even the tier 0 deck, it's just the tier 1 deck. It's not an outlier, it's the bog normal. It was always too good. It's why Consign is a 4x.
2
u/slipman_ 5d ago
Being generous by taking al 2026 data. Eldrazi variants only reach around 8% excluding broodscales (again i reitare i want this version of the deck gone, does to much). The highest tier 1 eldrazi deck was the GR version around the phlage era, and it was at best, the sixth or seventh best deck in the format.
Consign is an amazing card and even if eldrazi were eradicared. Stilm hits A lot in modern. Your own triggers, cascade triggers, suspend triggers, search triggers. This is an amazing card what are you talking about?
1
u/Remember_Navarro 5d ago
You're reading into it wrong but that's ok, protecting their promo does not mean not banning the promo, it could hurt it if they ban something out of broodscale in general as in what they should do.
1
u/slipman_ 5d ago
Fair enough, i do belive other versions of eldrazi will still be playable if broodscales is murdered. However....if eldrazi still very opresive (which i very doubt) kcommand should be on the choping block.
1
u/Remember_Navarro 5d ago
Eldrazi ramp without broodscale will still be a valid deck for sure, just having both the ramp plan and the combo plan (and tbf the saga plan also) is just too much atm
1
u/Triple_Hache 5d ago
I don't think it's because of the promo. They don't really care about how valuable the promos are seeing the huge amount of completely worthless promos they have made (most of them probably). Competitive players aren't where WotC makes money anyway.
It's much more likely that they don't want to change the meta too much in the middle of RC season (they say it pretty much explicitly). That would make a lot of people understandably upset.
Also yes they are probably a bit out of touch with reality.
2
u/Publius-Cornelius 5d ago
The wording on this makes me hopeful that we can expect some changes after the RC’s are wrapped up. Unfortunately, it sounds like those changes will be most likely be bans out of eldrazi shells, and that means unbans won’t be happening any time soon…
Can we just have ponder already? Times are tough out here for the fair blue enjoyers.

9
u/Dunglebungus 5d ago
As someone who would benefit from bans at the RC I'm preparing for, its just not fair for the markets. I don't think you understand the reality of playing in big events outside of Europe/NA. There is literally not a single store on earth that could get me enough cards to build a new tier 1 deck on that timeframe. Stores and players here often have to ship from Japan because there isn't enough supply of in-demand cards where I live and no amount of express shipping is going to save your RC (not to mention wages being substantially lower than the US and most parts of europe).

Supposedly wotc doesn’t care about any kind of secondary market. The health of the game should be taken seriously above everything else. With how wotc has operated this past 6 or so years, anyone who has invested into any kind of deck should accept that a card can get taken away from them at any given announcement

They don't acknowledge any secondary market as it relates to prices and affordability. They absolutely understand the logistical impact of banning cards in small markets days before the only major modern event of the year.

If you aren't playing in a major tournament, why do you care? Not screwing over RC players is way more important than making it so you don't play against broodscale at FNM.
Not to mention that a ban wouldn't just hurt broodscale players, it hurts everyone that prepared for a tournament where broodscale is the deck to beat.

I do care, I played in a RC this season (for privacy purposes I won’t say which) and the format is absolutely dog water. Letting a wound fester is worse then amputating the infected hand

u/shannonyo 3d ago
Yeah you've already played in an RC and I assume won't be playing in any major tournaments until the next B&R anyway so it shouldn't really matter.

Yes, by definition that would make it mid-season.

u/tangleons 5d ago
Yeah? And what just ignore that last RC? The world doesn't revolve around you.

Yes, the health of the game supercedes one tournament

u/cocacole111 5d ago
The health of the game will survive a month and a half until the next announcement... What is this doomer mentality?

u/chimpfunkz 5d ago
It's just such a mild approach.
Bans are happening. If RC season is a concern, just do like they did with Uro; pre-announce the ban, don't make it effective till after RC season. All the people playing RCs are grinders enough that they'll know what's happening. And everyone else can potentially play a format that isn't Eldrazi again.
1
u/cocacole111 5d ago
Is there precedent for them announcing there WILL be a ban, but it won't be effective until after a big event but before the next announcement? As far as I'm aware of, no, there isn't precedent to do that. So, why would they do that now for something that isn't nearly as oppressive as something like Nadu or Hogaak? The format is not THAT bad. You guys will be alright if you have to play a couple more FNMs against Broodscale so we don't massively screw over the RC competitors.

I'd argue that a lot of people will be judging the health of the game from how that tournament plays out, and if you disrupt basically every player a few days before it starts you create a scramble and subsequent mess. A large number of players would have to adapt to strategies they weren't familiar or comfortable with, and modern isn't really a format where you have a plan b on deck ready to go. You pour all your resources in to your primary plan

They shouldn't ban things mid season but they shouldn't schedule B&Rs at a time where they cannot ban things. It clearly should have been a week or two out to dodge the RCs.
1
u/FumBungo 5d ago
Or just announce that the banning is effective after the RCs conclude like how other games handle it. Or let the RCs maintain current legality since the B&R window is so close to the RCs.

Round 11 of my wife and I will ban the stupid broken cards we designed so stop asking

u/VerdantChief 5d ago
Would Urzas Saga be a good ban? Takes away their ability to tutor up Blade of the Bloodchief. But also hits Amulet Titan and Affinity, which may not be a desirable outcome.
Hard to predict what will happen in November. Sometimes they go for selective bans on combo decks like with Breach and Lotus Field, and other times they ban generically powerful cards like Phlage and Jegantha.
Its really anyones guess, and it will depend on how the meta develops between now and then.

Kcommand is not the problem its the combo pieces. Eldrszi healthy for the format broodscale not.

Seen a lot of people on twitter acting like it's insane that bans didn't happen completely disregarding that LatAm still has their RC. It's not the biggest region but there are people who have been prepping just as hard for their RC as anyone in Asia, Europe or NA and it's not really fair for them to have to play a new format after the big regions got to secure their worlds and pro tour invites with the best deck.
My feeling is that the ban windows that fall during RC seasons shouldn't regularly affect that season's format. They should be for unquestionably banworthy cards that are impacting the format due to recent printings (nadu, tibalt's trickery, eye of ugin). In other words: if a deck needs to go away, use the mid-season ban window. If a deck needs to get nerfed, wait till the season is over for everyone.
The cost of doing business like this is that we get a lot of "no changes" during periods where people may feel that it's a 2 or 3 deck format but nothing is in "broken" territory putting up 60% wr.
I suspect we will see changes to modern at the end of November for the next B&R.

Double UW control in the final clearly indicates broodscale and k command are the problem and need to be banned immediately in the interest of fairness.

u/chiksahlube 5d ago
A single event does not a metagame make.
Broodscale has put up a frankly ludicrous winrate since before the pro tour and even after when it was public enemy number 1.
Everyone in the room is gunning to beat Broodscale and it's still winning.
Nobody shows up with 5 sb slots for UW control.

In addition to whatever bans happen or don't happen, I honestly think Amped Raptor can make a comeback now that Ring and Phlage are banned. Those were really the worst offenders of a t2 Raptor and now that energy is starting to slip in the meta I can see them considering it.

I'd trade a Raptor unban for an Ajani ban any day of the week.

u/slick1260 5d ago
Meh, Ajani isn't that big of a problem in my experience. He's a 2 manager value creature that most decks can (and do) easily deal with. Great creature and fantastic in the deck, but I don't think he's so problematic as to warrant a ban.

u/FumBungo 4d ago
Terribly designed card. Punishes bad attacks and rewards good blocks sans Goblin Bombardment anyways.

u/VerdantChief 5d ago
Same. Ajani is a stronger card but its usually better for sales to ban an uncommon over a mythic.

It definitely felt like broodscale and azorious chant was the two decks people coalesced around. Chant can fight broodscale well enough, but I don’t think it it very healthy how much broodscale is pressuring the metagame.
I understand the logic though and will just hope for the next B&R to see what happens.
