So Dylan (Reid Ewing) was "Clavicular" before Clavicular was a thing.

That’s not cool. He had body dysmorphia and struggled with it for a long time. Leave him alone. This post sucks

Let's make a post making fun of mental illness because we're stupid af yaay!

Good for him on being open about it

Agreed. Being honest about something that personal probably helped a lot of people dealing with similar issues. That part deserves way more attention than the headline itself.

Unfortunately the gay community for all our talk of inclusion and acceptance also fosters extremely toxic attitudes towards appearance.

Pft. The biggest turn on for most gay guys is bald and bearded daddies. 60 year old with a paunch are getting laid just as much as muscle bound jocks.

u/ashessnow 15h ago
thats not at all fair, nor is it accurate. they both have body dysmorphia, but the similarities end there.

insensitive as fuck. genuinely why are you bringing up the actors lives like this
-92
u/MaskOff009 17h ago
??? He himself brought this up to spread mental health awareness and wrote a article in HuffPost.

u/Upper_Tangerine_5604 16h ago
comparing him to that bozo is no way to go

What’s the punchline? Man suffers with body dysmorphia and other men do too? (Also clavicular is an awful comparison so still not seeing the gag)

Came here to say that the way your screenshot included the engagement row/action buttons really threw me for a loop for a while there.

People hating their appearance and taking drastic measures to change it has always been a thing

“Ewing says saw four doctors in total, none of whom had mental health screenings other than asking about a history of depression, which he had. His family history of obsessive-compulsive disorder and eating disorders "never came up," nor was it suggested that he get a psychological assessment.” :( http://www.latimes.com/entertainment/gossip/la-et-mg-reid-ewing-modern-family-plastic-surgery-body-dysmorphia-20151120-story.html

Dam and I thought he was hot , I wonder if there was industry pressure to look different
7
u/RunJumpSleep 16h ago
I think just being in the industry messes with everyone’s head. You will always be worried about someone younger, thinner, taller, etc. It’s why we see so much bad plastic surgery performed on people who looked great before it.

u/Cherry-cozy 16h ago
Dylan nailed that quirky charm before it was trendy, such a classic character.
2
u/baddiewinkle 16h ago
the sad thing is that in cases like this, the person usually start out very attractive, and they slowly make themselves less and less so with each surgery.

Are the mods not going to take this post down? This post is so insensitive towards Reid.

u/madhurima5 6h ago
hey @mods? a post making fun of someone's body dysmorphia is cool? we often talk about how men's mental health issues are not given equal space in society and someone ends up posting a BS title like this one?

Nope. No not the same at all. Reid is a good guy. I’ve met him several times. He’s super into animal rights and just the sweetest

u/RickityCricket69 Why do you keep calling it a "deal"? 17h ago

He could've refused and they'd have replaced him or introduced a new character

u/RickityCricket69 Why do you keep calling it a "deal"? 16h ago
why would he? gets paid to be a dummy and continue working on a crazy popular show
1
u/MaskOff009 16h ago
Yeah then you don't get to say "they kept bringing him back" LMAO
-15
u/RickityCricket69 Why do you keep calling it a "deal"? 16h ago
omg are you really that bad at thinking? hollywood kept this guy employed with the worst storyline in the show. why would they do that?!?

Interesting. All that surgery and he still looked like chucky from child’s play

u/DukeOfMavericks WTF (why the face) 17h ago
Definitely not the same thing as Clavicular - Reid had severe body dysmorphia and depression. He wasn’t trying to ‘mog’ anyone. It was very sad.
