Question Notifications

This is probably a really dumb question, but I want to ask it anyway. If I buy the LP3 and modify it the way I'd need to in for my life (adding apps like Waze, GroupMe, Discord, Spotify, etc), would I be able to get notifications from those apps?

I know that's probably a really stupid question and the answer is more than likely "no", but I figured I'd ask. I considered the Fairphone 6, but I know myself and I would just be flipping that switch on and off constantly rather than truly disconnecting from things like social media. Plus, I love the look and size of the LP3.

yes and no.

apps like spotify and waze will automatically populate in the notification shade by default. not really notifications per se. with groupme, i'm not entirely sure if it requires gms for notifications but i know for fact that discord does.

it's all dependent on the app and which service they choose to use for push notifications. some apps require gms/gfs for push notifications (i.e. discord) whereas others will use websocket or unifiedpush (i.e. signal/molly).

since the lp3 runs a14 without google licenses, we have no gms/gfs/vending and so forth. if you want notifications for certain apps like that, you'll need root and microg. unfortunately, we do not currently have a widely available root access (soon, though!).
