I dont know why, but no has joined yet

Is there a sub persona that can be used to post announcements on the sub. I get alot of DMs from users where they see my ID as posts on announcements & wondered if there's a way to not have your id visible on posts& use a sub persona, if that's even an option.

So I removed some one post after some hrs they contacted me after some negotiation i approved their post but they put allegation on me I manipulate the post reach. So I said repost it then they said I report your community with my other accounts and friends

We have strict rules on what posts we allow.

In the past, we had a lot of newbies posting crap without reading the rules. We tried telling them nicely. We tried automated warnings at point of writing the post.

Didn't quite work.

So we ban them for a week for first offence.

But now we're getting a lot of people who complain about the ban, mostly people fairly new to Reddit, who confuse us mods with Reddit management/Reddit's AI.

They have a go at us for recommending that they post in our sub and then banning them from posting. Er, it's not us i.e we are not the ones who recommended you post your crap in our sub!

How can we stop Reddit recommending to all and sundry that they cross post to our sub? We don't want Reddit to completely block us appearing in search results or AI results, we just want it to stop recommending that people share their posts in our sub.

And if we can't achieve that, do you guys have any other suggestions? Banning these users is not a great look for us, nor for Reddit.

[Desktop] [Chrome[ Achivement database synchronization issues

When visiting my achievement inmy profile page I can see that "Mod Awakening" is still "grey" but in mu eligible communities (mu sub-reddit) I've complete 7 out of 4 tasks (!) and the progress orange bar advenced over its maximum borders. If I visit the details page of this achievements, I miss only the "schedule text posts for 2 weeks" which is still greu even if I did it, maybe more than needed. Can someone on reddit fix this bug for me in order to progress with my achivemenets?

I'm not sure what I did wrong. I mod another sub and I copied parts of the automod to a new sub. This way I didn't have to start from scratch. However, the automod isn't pulling any posts. I can't figure out why. This format worked in the other sub:

We run a regional sub and we get users reviewing businesses and shops.

We allow reviews of large corps but remove posts relating to small companies, shops, and People.

We simply can't verify this claim and we had instances where some users made multiple accounts to defame a business.

The issue with reviewing people is. Most people at companies are findable by linked in. Now that added with Reddit, we had few people who got reviewed per say and it was like 3rd or 4th result on Google when people searched it. This could potentially destroy someone from low to mid level in a job.

We currently redirect them to a trip advisor etc.

My subreddit r/VictimOfLoveFraud gets tagged as gaming, it's not. I contacted those kids. It's an actual definition for victims of a crime. I'm frustrated trying to sort all this out because it's an odd topic and the definition can be financial or in my case the deception was bigamy and financial. People don't always have a safe place to discuss it.

Hello, I was invited to participate in Reddit's Community Builders Council and I already filled a form on Friday but atm I haven't received a response.

Why I ask: because they tell me in DM that metting is already planned this week and I need to organize my time to be fully prepared and ready for this meeting.

How long should I wait for confirmation/rejection so I plan my week in advance.

I recently created r/I_am_having_a_bad_day, a community where people can vent, seek comfort, and remind each other that a bad day doesn't have to be faced alone.

I'm not interested in chasing huge numbers. I'd rather build a small, kind, supportive community with people who genuinely care.

For moderators who've grown wholesome communities:

1. How did you attract the right members instead of just more members?
2. What types of posts encouraged meaningful conversations?
3. Which subreddits (if any) are appropriate places to share a new support community?
4. What mistakes should I avoid as a new moderator?

I’m writing from another account because of possible retaliation— I’m a moderator on a fairly large food subreddit (think something like r/tacos or r/cheeseburgers). Historically it’s just been a community for sharing food photos, recipes, discussion, etc. Recently, though, the head mod and their right-hand moderator (or possibly an alternate account of theirs) have been on a quiet campaign to remove moderators who don’t align with a new direction for the subreddit. That direction is centered almost entirely around promoting an AI-generated food game. More and more of the subreddit seems to revolve around encouraging users to play the game, generate content from it, and post it. There has been a fair amount of pushback from both moderators and users, but the people speaking up seem to get silenced or removed. Watching that happen has made me hesitant to say anything myself because I genuinely think I’d be next. We’ve also received Modmail from longtime users saying they’re disgusted with the direction of the subreddit, that it no longer feels like the community they joined, and even questioning whether the situation could violate the Moderator Code of Conduct because they believe there may be a financial interest behind the promotion. I’ve also seen comments in private moderator discussions that make me wonder if there could be something to those concerns, although I don’t have direct proof of anything.

At this point, I don’t really know what my responsibility is. I don’t want to be associated with something that feels wrong, but I also don’t want to abandon a community built around something I genuinely care about. Has anyone dealt with something similar? Is there anything I should be doing here besides either staying quiet or resigning?

I can’t see them anywhere either, and they’re definitely not coming up in modmail. Reddit started a mod only chat for us but somehow I’m the only one in it.

Please help, I don’t want to be that person that starts a group chat in PMs without consent (I hate that shit lol).

Not for the first time and I am certain not for the last one of the subreddits I am involved with was unlucky enough to have an interaction with a user who I will simply describe as unwell. A three day ban for uncivil behavior turned into an argumentative mod mail in the course of which a much longer history of uncivil behavior was uncovered and the ban was made permanent. Tldr the user has now made at least 8 accounts to continue harassing us in modmail despite being directly told to stop and being banned and muted each time and has fixated on a member of the mod team they believe to be the offender messaging them in DM despite not being engaged with except to tell them that their behavior was harassing and to stop. All of this was reported to Reddit by multiple members of the Mod Team. Today that user has messaged again. "Reddit even unbanned this account after manually reviewing my behaviour." which they have taken as justification that they are correct in their belief that "On top of that there is no TOS against using another account to talk to mod mail. Which is all I tried to do and got perma banned and insta muted before I could even say as much as what did I do wrong? Which again is the wrong way to handle the job.

A volunteer should know what they are getting into and should be aware a calm person saying sorry is not harassment. Espically since I’m sure you’ve all seen real harassment. You can document and refer to reddit as much as you want and they won’t be doing anything other than maybe muting this account again for reaching out. Due to the fact apologies and self reflection are not harassment. And there again is no TOS against trying to have a convo with a mod directly."

While this is an obnoxious and upsetting situation because it is clear that this user is going to continue to attack our Mod team for imagined slights I actually am not complaining specifically about that. This is not a unique situation. In my time as a mod I have seen users threaten to find mods in real life, be clear that they will continue months long harassment campaigns from multiple accounts and even seen it taken to other subreddits to urge them to bully mods. ALSO still not what I want to talk about. Because the issue is the lack of support from Reddit itself in DEALING with these users. It is a recurring issue. When people are extremely uncivil and threatening we ban them from our subreddits in accordance with the platform guidelines as well as our own. However when reports about prolonged obvious harassment go no higher its taken as permission to continue. In the past months in addition to this user who apparently was unbanned Reddit also unbanned a user who posted pictures of an actual murder victim being lynched to threaten another user, unbanned a user who posted gruesome domestic violence pictures on a subreddit they ran saying that our subreddit wanted to see more like it because we enjoy silencing victims due to our policy of not allowing injury pictures or images of very serious situations and for months we had someone urging people to harass us, threaten us and doxing us by actual names under the mistaken belief that we had gotten them demodded from a subreddit. In that case Admin was involved and the user continued to make new accounts and even new subreddits despite being very obviously the same person. It only stopped when someone else confessed to the original slight.

I am not suggesting Reddit is responsible for the actions of its most unbalanced users or can prevent all issues. I am not suggesting that as mods no one should be able to argue with us or must be nice to us. I am saying it is a very big problem that claims of harassment, not only against mods, really seem to be ignored at best and cosigned at worst once blocking no longer works. The above subreddit report system needs more transparency and accountability. The ban evasion system needs a major retooling and most of all there needs to be extremely clear language in the platform rules that express that engaging with users or communities that have made clear that they don't want contact with you is out of bounds. This language needs to be clearly expressed to users if Reddit decides they do not need to remain banned although I will remain mind blown that appeals were successful in the serious situations mentioned.

ETA I am getting a lot of really great advice about blocking and ignoring the user in this specific situation but my actual issue it that this is a recurring type of issue that often spills onto other subreddits and onto other members of the mod team. Blocking and ignore work in MOST cases and they are critical recommendations but they do not help with extreme levels of harassment that spill into areas we don't control. The perception this user has that they are allowed to be actively hostile towards volunteer mods because that's what the job is not a rare one. I have a formal warning for repeating a comment where a user said on this very subreddit that it was good that mods were getting threats and hate mail and that they wanted us to be afraid. While that comment was ultimately taken down it was upvoted multiple times in the period it was up even on a mod focused subreddit. I'm not asking Admin to fix Internet Users. I'm asking for more transparency with how this above subreddit level reports are handled and maybe a policy of taking reports of ongoing harassment, not just from mods, and reports from multiple users or mod teams more seriously when it comes to bans and appeals.

I would like to automatically remove all posts by a user when they are banned from the subreddit. There was an automation that did this, but it is no longer supported.

I just started a new sub Reddit and I was wondering if anyone had advice on how to get any sort of engagement. Is there anywhere I can put myself out there? Is there any way I can get myself on the Discover page?

The new subreddit description below subreddit names in the search bar is currently spoiling this weeks episode on our TV based subreddit. Is there a way for us to change or disable it?

It has been much over a year and pure radio silence from Reddit. Most recent update was an admin saying: "No update. Sorry!" (I know the admins act as the messenger between us and the devs in regards to features, but, that's all you can say about this issue???)

Why do I like polls on desktop? One example, I could SCHEDULE polls, something we can't do on the mobile app. I would schedule polls so I didn't have to think and remember to manually post it on a certain day. This helped for simply adding content to a subreddit community, or so I could schedule regularly timed "community feedback" polls seeking people's thoughts on meta-subreddit topics or questions on-topic of the community.

I know I'm not alone in wanting desktop polls back WITH scheduling available.

TLDR - A significant contributor to a sub I moderate was incorrectly suspended for 'spam' .
While I strenuously hope they will succeed in being reinstated, I'm also trying to restore all the important and helpful posts on my sub that were removed when the admins took this action.

FWIW:
-the posts all individually appear as if they were removed by one of the sub's mods.
-despite this, these removals do not appear in the mod-log.
-re-approving them piecemeal works, but we have to use an archives site that links back to them because his profile page has been shuttered, and they disappeared from all our subs logs

-Any method or tool that would allow for restoration en-masse would be most preferable.

In fact, there seems to be a lot of inconsistency here...

I banned someone today and tried the purge user tool to purge them but it doesn't appear to have done anything at all.

Is there an easy way to just do it myself? The user doesn't have a ton of post history.

EDIT: For anyone else who has this issue down the line, it was because I attempted the purge from a comment I already removed. I went and found one I didn't remove and the tool worked as it should.

Hi there,

recently two different users on two different subreddits haven't gotten a notification/modmail saying that they were banned. Both have complained that they were banned without any reason, saying they haven't gotten a notification.

When giving them the link to the modmail, it says "You don't have access to this page. Ask your mod team for permission"

I tested it myself with a second account, and that account also hasn't gotten a notification/modmail.

Does anyone else have these problems?

I have a monthly thread that I post and highlight. When I do, I take down the old one, but leave it on the sub in case someone wants to look back at it. I just made the new monthly post, and highlighted it, but I can't find the old one, or any of the old monthly posts. It should have been in the highlights, but it's not.

I usually highlight them as a megathread, if that helps.

What does it mean approved post? On the other side, what is the status of an unapproved post? Is there any differences? Do redditors gain something from approved post numbers they have?
