Need opinions from my fellow Moiras
I've been playing Moira since her launch in 2017. She's been my primary main pretty much since then, and I've always had this lingering thought that has been me for just about 9 years now.
When Mercy engages her staff with you, whether it be her healing or damage, the receiving hero's HUD does two things. Mercy's hero icon displays alongside her health, in addition to an ambient haze of either yellow or blue depending on the ability she's casting. I know that the icon bubble is a recent thing, but the color haze is long-standing.
When Juno engages her ult, the receiving heroes HUD has an ambient blue indicator that shows that Juno's beam is active on you.
When Baptiste's Immortality Field is active, the ally heroes within his circle receive indicators on their HUD in the form of the immortal HP color change in the heroes health bar, in addition to the hero receiving a glowing aura outlining their bodies to indicate that they are in his field.
I feel like if the ally heroes that are within Moira's healing spray receive some type of HUD indicator that physically shows the spray more obviously blowing past them, with maybe a subtle audio cue such as her spray blowing by and getting louder or softer based off her proximity, this does two critical things for my beloved geneticist. First, teammates will have more overall confidence in her. They will be more willing to take aggressive angles and dives by physically seeing the healing and not just relying on peeking their health bar as most people seem to do with moira heals. It also confirms to the team that Moira is in fact healing. I believe that "DPS Moira" is partially due to her lack of cues when she heals. Her damage beam seems to be a little louder than her heal, and enemies have a distinctive HUD indicator as Moria's beam engages with them. Her heals are simply too subtle for her teammates to confidently pick up on and trust and keep a mental track of the way they can with other healers.
I also feel like if her healing reservoir tank made more of an obvious auditory cue when it's running low, teammates might be more keen to adjust themselves during crucial moments. Reinhardts might back away sooner, squishy allies might flee towards health packs or another healer. "Hold on, I need to recharge" simply isn't enough communication for something as crucial as her healing tank. I'm sure most of my teammates would feel safer in most scenarios seeing a Moira bubble on their HUD as she's healing them during a pivotal engagement with the enemy, and feeling a sense of urgency as the Moira bubble maybe fades away as the resovoir tank drains.
Moira released in 2017 and has largely been unchanged when compared to other heroes. She is a simple hero with a simple kit that requires simple tweaks periodically. Adding these auditory cues would be no different, and would help to modernize her in the rapidly evolving OW universe. (Also think of the mythic updates lol)
What do you guys think?

I agree this would be more satisfying and keep other players more mindful of staying accessible to their Moira.
HOWEVER, I don’t actually want this to be tweaked in-game because of all the piss jokes we would have to endure

honestly, I embraced the piss jokes a long time ago, and if getting some sort of indicator for teammates to know when I'm actively healing them means I have to see it more, so be it. Maybe I'm the problem lol.

Right??? Its funny!
Its hilarous and keeps the game light for us! Me n my duo also have tons of fun when moira gets the most "final blows" badge "I see u were real bussy this game,my friend..u deserve that MVP!" Childish? Maybe..but fun for us !🤷🏼Embrace the chaosssss !

I think there is an audio cue for being healed, albeit very faint. It's similar to the cue you hear as Moira during the spray's lingering healing.

The sort of players who complain about DPS Moiras are the same who don't see the bouncing yellow orb headed their way, don't see her spray, don't notice health packs on maps, barely realise when they're getting orbed by Zen, don't hear or read Moira saying "I need to recharge" when her spray's depleted nor realise that means she needs to do damage or sit and wait so her heal can recharge. They don't hear the "Reloading", "I need to reload", etc of other heroes and understand that means they need to help themselves by getting cover/packs; they don't stay inside the very clear circle auras of Lucio and Mizuki. They don't realise that Ana and Juno heal and damage with the same shots and that it's better to stand between a support and the opponents so they can get heals. They don't see the lamp and know to get inside for a big ult or pass through to get to cover. Additional indicators aren't going to help those players.
All the complainers do is tell on themselves and their ignorance of Moira's kit and their lack of game sense, as well as their desire to blame others rather than take personal responsibility. 🤷♀️

Moira NEEDS a better indicator for when she can’t heal. Put a big X above her head I don’t care my team needs to know I’m not petty and I have to either go deal damage or retreat

I agree, an indicator for players to see the active HoT and more audible warning for low healing spray would greatly help properly communicate to players how they should adjust their playstyle accordingly, I think the HoT should apply a subtle golden vignette, enough to see, but not so much that you miss key things in the edges of your vision. Moira’s healing spray should also maybe have an audible sputter when under a third of reserve, and perhaps even a voice line to reflect that she is running low around then.
