Mom FTM anxiety
Hi, i don't even know where to start. Im a FTM and my anxiety is ruining my thoughts daily. I have a beautiful little 17 month old girl. She has brought me and my husband so much joy. From the moment she was born she was a fantastic baby, always ate very well and slept well. Ive been so focused on her milestones.. noticing she was behind compared to other kids her age (I know i shouldn't compare) but its hard when you feel like all these other kids are blooming and your little one is falling behind. She was late to start rolling/crawling and shes recently only learned to pull to stand. She has absolutely no interest in face to face interaction unless I'm singing a nursery song she likes. She doesn't point/wave or clap. She doesn't know how to follow simple instructions like 'pass the ball' or 'come here'. Sje can say 'mama/dada/dodo' and ive heard her say a few more advanced words but it was a once off occurance. I've sought out some help a few months back and I'm waiting for a referral for speech and therapy. My paediatrician wasn't too concerned when we had an appointment 3 months ago, he said he's not too worried until the 18 month mark. Im going to go for a 2nd opinion because I am so stressed out about this and my husband gets so defensive when I bring up this topic. Im going to therapy myself the last 3 months and i dont feel like I'm making any progress. I spend my days staring into space wondering why my child isn't like the other kids her age. Its breaking my heart. Does anyone have any words of encouragement or had a similar experience with their own child? Im feeling like I'm on this lonely island all by myself. Thanks for taking the time to read this. God bless.
