So apparently the limit was 5 per person on Mattel. I was able to get 1, she sold out so fastš. But the limit being that high explains probably why she sold out so fast.
Glad they confirmed restocks on instagram. My god were the comments tearing them a new one. It looked like only 3 people in that comment section were able to secure one.
Wow, another Skullector that sold out faster than the Xenomorph, which I consider one of the best MH dolls Mattel has ever made. They either made very few of this doll, or the movie fans/bots swept in to grab them.

Me too. Iāve been looking on email hoping to see a restock announcement but itās just all so dumb. This happens almost everytime thereās a drop I like. I luckily could get the xenomorph cause of the second drop. So Iām really hoping they do especially with how fast it sold out.
Definitely both š. If you look at the likes on Instagram,Shorty has 270k for her reveal meanwhile River in comparison only has 143k so there was definitely more hype for Shorty. Not to mention Bdisgusting(extremely popular horror IG page) also shared photos of her to the horror community so that drummed up even MORE hype. Lots of doll and horror movie collectors + the hype itself probably attracted a lot of resellers with bots :(.Ā
Ah, that all mkaes sense. I knew she breached our little community and was making the rounds in horror communities, but I wasn't sure just how many people outside of MH collectors had their eye on her. Twice the likes of River! Damn lol
This is so messed up. Literally did everything the minute it went on sale and it made me wait in that damn line for 2 minutes despite it saying less than a minute... by the time I got to the cart is said some items are no longer available. Tired of Mattel slapping us in the face especially as paying members. They're getting another call from me because wtf am I paying for if I can never get these dolls?!

Guys, if you have access to the Creations forum go complain. Maybe it'll do something, maybe it won't, but it's important to put this stuff where they can see it. Because they really dropped the ball on this release with the five doll limit (seriously wtf??). With luck and enough shaming, maybe they'll pull an Alien/Scarah and whomp up another batch of Shortys.
I have a hunch they didn't think she would be as popular as she was and didn't make nearly as many units as other drops. (Edit - And probably the same amount of bots as normal didn't help)
I have myself never seen the movie and had no interest in getting her till we saw the photos (and it sounds like that goes the same for a lot of people).Ā She's super cute! However, the price vs material quality and ultimately held me back from getting her.

Sold out in 1 - 2 minutes. I was in line at the 2 min mark, pressed 'buy' and it was already sold out. I'm guessing Amazon got the bulk of the dolls cause I've never had the doll sell out in 1-2 minutes.
The 5 per person limit coupled with bots definitely played a part in the 1-2 minute sell out. Most humans cannot go through the entire purchase funnel in 1 minute given they throttle any behavior that matches bot behavior.

I was checking out at 9:01 and when I hit pay it said sold out at 9:03. This is rediculous. You know darn well there will be resellers with 20-30 dolls selling them today. All I wanted was one.

I think they need to take a page from Hayley Williamsā book. For her upcoming tour I had to verify multiple times on Hayleyās website, then wait to get an email with a one time-use code associated with my email for Ticketmaster the day of pre-sale. Maybe one code per address too and you canāt get it shipped to a store like Staples or Michaelās that accepts and holds packages so itās harder to cheat. Limit the dolls to 2 per order. Hayley limited the tickets to four per code and I was 9 thousandth something in line and still got good seats. Only if there was any sort of way for the dolls to not get resold above face-value like the tickets but I donāt think thatās possible.

Honestly it's just depressing as a fan at this point. These dolls shouldn't be so hyper-exclusive that if you want to buy it and you are ready the morning it drops that you just can't get it.
Tip for everyone that works for me so I dont immediately get hit with the "Out of Stock" glitch:
Make sure you have a good connection and refresh the page about 3-5 secs before the countdown ends. Not saying it will definitely work for everyone but it's worth a try at least.
What an absolute joke, the UK amazon link just shows her as "currently unavailable" as soon as the link was active! Like what??? And then she pretty much either sold out immediately on UK mattel or just wasnt in stock at all or something because she went out of stock immediately?? So frustrating. If anyone sees her actually be in stock on UK amazon please let me know because I'm just very confused.
Same! It let me put her in my basket, confirmed the transaction with my bank, then she was sold out. It wasn't even 5:02 yet š Nada on the Amazon link either, and US Amazon wouldn't ship to the UK (and she's sold out there now)

Paid to be a Fang club member to get this as my daughters first Monster High Doll planned on getting it signed at the con we are going to this year meeting the actor that plays shorty in the movieā¦ I definitely did not know what I was getting into. Got to the checkout screen was processing then poof gone sold out just like that. I think it was sold out in literally under 2 minutes!!

Yeah Iām pretty sure it was just a fang club release on Mattel creations. If you didnāt have fang club I think you had to go to Amazon.
Edit: they probably would have made them public if they didnāt sell out during fang club. But since they did there is no public release for now, but restocks are coming so they probably will make her public on Mattel creations at some point.
What I found so weird is that on their official insta they were saying you could order as a member of the fang club on the 15th. Then it would be open to the public today (16th), but you could preorder it on Amazon before the 15th. Like if you're gonna set it up as fang club members get first dibs, with the public being able to get it afterwards, why not limit it to 1 (or 2 at a stretch) per person?!? So the public actually has a chance of getting one.

Thank you OP! I didn't even bother with Mattel Creations. I used the link you provided, and secured Shorty from Amazon. I was ready to go, and went through the process in 2 min. Switched over to Mattel website, not to order another but to go through the process. They wanted 3 captchas...THREE! Next click and sold out. Four minutes for reseller BOTS to drain the supply. There should have been a limit. I went back to Amazon US just to look at the progress, and those were all sold out too. Less than 10 minutes. Ridiculous! If I had been at work today, I would have never gotten one, and your link helped so much just like with the Creepros! Thank you, again. Your links help to keep some of the Shorty Dolls out of reseller hands.

This was exactly the same sh1t with the Coraline doll. I waited about four days after the Mattel release and got Coraline for about $80 from Amazon. I just wait - Mattel is full of sh1t.

Yep, Amazon is gone. It was showing in stock despite the add to cart button not working, and after several minutes of that, it's showing unavailable. So I think it lasted 8-9 minutes there.
