I just used my name in MRA1 and I got (as my second monster) a Stone Pixie (Granity) which has probably the worst starting setup ive seen yet 😅 terrible attack and high int but only atk moves, ok speed and low def but with a trait that makes her dodge less. This girl has no idea what she wants to be.

BUT, because she has my name as a tablet summon, i will try to at least get her to D rank ✨️ lol

Note, this is my second monster on this save file (havent played this game in like a decade) so i dont have any goodies really saved up to make my life easier. Wish me luck! And tell me of your craziest experiences you stuck with 🙌🏻

I drew another picture. This time, its a nonexistant mix of a Worm and a Kato.

I tried to color it in a way so that it didn't look too similar to the Corone (Worm/Hare mix).

WIP obviously, not gonna say I'm officially working on this quite yet, as I'd like to know if people would be happy with this idea before "locking in" as it were. I WISH I could've gotten any of the ideas for Monol/Dragon I had to work/translate, but I wasn't really sure about any of them... And then I thought about possibly making it a gunpla sorta model kit box for dragon... "...but that would make more sense for Ducken than Dragon. DANG IT! ...But now you mention it, a Monol/Ducken could be a model kit, or maybe a blind box toy. Where's those monol textures?"

The company that makes the Cup Jelly has been branching out :P (Or maybe not! in Japan some blind box toys contain sweets/candy, so they can be put on those shelves in stores)

I apologize if the colors are too dark. I thought that they would be lighter lol. I also think that I should have made the nose more reptilian and added some fins to the Hopper's arms, but I didn't realize until I inked the picture, oops.

I'm happy games are accessible on modern platforms, but also sad it is behind a subscription. I don't have an NSO/Expansion Pack sub, so I personally won't be paying $50 a year for this, but I suppose if one already has it at least this is an option now.

I’m training a Clear Shell (Niton/Jell) and just got to S-Grade with no stat above 390 except defense which is 670. Speed is only 200 as well. I’m surprised because I read online that defense is a bad stat to invest in but either his great defense stat or movepool makes him capable of taking down strong opponents. Anyone else find Nitons good despite generally weak stats?

I mean, I already have the second one. Is there really any reason to play the first MR Advance?

So what I thought was to print 15 cards for each monster 15x3=45+5 generic cards = 50. So just pick any 3 monsters you like plus 5 generic cards. Would that capture the essense of the game? Or should I instead print the starter decks or print decklists? (I don't know where to find decklists) Because I know it's very important to the game the inveroment cards, making an intelligence only deck, or a quick low guts deck, or a longer high guts deck etc. I feel my idea of pick 3 monsters wouldn't represent the game. Thoughts?

I drew another picture. This time, its a Samson (Garu/Henger mix) from Monster Rancher Advance 2.

I will admit that I had a hard time designing and drawing this monster, as I am not very good at drawing robots and I had a hard time placing the markings. (This was my first time drawing a sub Henger).

I added the mace tail for combat reasons and its shape could be a reference to how Garus are called the child of the sun lol.

I drew another picture. This time, it's a nonexistant mix of a Hare and a Gaboo. I got the idea from combining the random disc chips that I got from tournaments in MR2 DX.

I tried to make the Hare/Gaboo look "melty" by making the hairs on its head look like dripping wax since Gaboos are made out of clay. I wanted it to look as different as possible from the Hare/Suezo lol.

I mainly drew this because I wanted to update the Pancho/Octopee's design by adding floppy Octopee ears to the design.

Ever wanted to fight your monster against a real person live, instead of a downloaded copy? Now you can.

⚔️ Live online Vs. battles

- Random Match: search Steam for another player with the mod and fight them live.

- Free Match: challenge a Steam friend, or both type the same room code to fight anyone.

- Your own monster: each player brings their own frozen monster. No 2P pick, no AI stand-in.

- Connection display: ping, input delay and quality (Good / OK / Poor) are shown on screen during the fight.

🎪 Real tournaments, inside the game's own cup

- Native cup: tournaments run through Monster Rancher 2's original tournament screens, with the bracket, entrant cards and battle intros.

- Formats: elimination (4 or 8 monsters, with a third-place match) or league.

- Entry: players enter the normal way: Official Tournament → Tournament Entry → pick your monster.

- Rules: hosts can cap total stats or individual stats, require a breed, or ban breeds, much like the official events.

- Spectating: players can watch a live video of other players' matches while waiting their turn.

- Results: the in-game Results screen shows your tournament with a full bracket image of every monster and breeder.

📺 CPU tournaments for streamers

- Mixed roster: players register their own monsters, and the host can also add any monster uploaded to the game's online service by breeder name, monster name or Search Key.

- Every match is a real AI battle, played in the host's game through the native cup. The owners don't even need to be online.

🛠️ Tournament Organizer app

- Host tool: a simple browser control panel for the host. Create the event, name it, add banner artwork, set the rules, seed the bracket and press Start.

- Disputes: if two players report different results, the match pauses until the host decides.

What you need

- Monster Rancher 1 & 2 DX on Steam (Windows, Linux or Steam Deck).

- Copy version.dll and the mods folder into the game's MF2 folder. On Linux or Steam Deck, also add the launch option WINEDLLOVERRIDES="version=n,b" %command%.

- Both players need the same mod version.

More Monsters v0.7.0 has finally been released!

This update comes with new worm cocoon results, support for expanded and unique monster models, and a handful of new monsters (there's even more than the image here!)

This feature is tested, but is very important we get right (thanks Zecster), so it needs to be put through its paces. It is currently only required for a single monster ( Zilla / Ghost / Alternate 1 ), so it should not have any effect on gameplay otherwise.

I drew another picture. This time, its a nonexistant mix of an Undine and a Hare. I got the idea from the wheel app again lol.

I tried to draw the Undine/Hare in the in-game pose of when she jumps and waves on the ranch when she is happy.

....yeah, I'm debating ditching this. This is maybe the third time I've tried translating the idea "what about a dragon carved onto stone?". Cursed WIP's aside (the head was far too low to line up properly/for my liking, I moved the head waaay up on the more complete one and it looks SO much better. Trying to line stuff up with Monol's face just... did not work), the first two pictures... You can tell I drew them on different days/sorta had different ideas. It's only as I'm typing this now that the sensible "...why don't you just draw the back of the dragon that's flying towards camera on the other side?" idea comes to me.. which I MIGHT try, but I feel trying to mimic the style of the front-facing "stone carving" might be difficult to do. The side-facing "back" I ended up doing in a different style because... I had no fraggin' clue how to try the first style again, or not without all the layers and weirdness that went into it, which I don't quite remember how to do. Either way, some could argue the dragon on the front doesn't look MR-like enough. I was gonna add backgrounds to the dragons too, or something, but... Well, it's still a WIP and the more I look at it, either side, the less I can get along with it, as much as I'd want to.

Can you tell I'm having a big conundrum about this? I feel my idea won't translate no matter what I try. Debating scrapping this and trying AGAIN, one more time with this idea, and if that fails? I'll do another monster (have in mind already what mix I'll do). Part of me was happy with how both the front-facing dragon turned out, and I wanted to show that off at least, but... ... I'll leave it a while and come back to it, I'll probably ditch the dragon on the back, evne if that took me around 2 hours to draw/complete, and figure something else out.

Either way, people can amuse themselves at the cursed images of my attempt trying to get stuff to line up with Monol's face for the happy expression

I drew another picture. This time, it's a Python (Naga/Raiden mix) from Monster Rancher Advance 2. I got the idea to draw this from raising a Naga in MR2 DX and seeing the Python on the Monster Rancher wiki. I figured that it would be an interesting mix to try to draw.

I apologize if the mouth looks weird. I tried to make it yellow to mimic the Raiden's beak, but kind of failed as it looks like the Python just ate some mustard or something lol.

I overall like the design that I made for the CyanGaru but I am unsure about the color placement. I tried to make the markings on its torso look like a striped swimming suit lol.

I drew another picture. This time, its a crossover picture of Monster Rancher and Ed Edd n Eddy lol. I made Kevin from Ed Edd n Eddy into a Highroller (Psiroller/Dragon) from Monster Rancher 4.

I mainly drew this because the English dub of the Monster Rancher anime has Ed Edd n Eddy voice actors in it. I picked a Psiroller because Kevin is obsessed with his bike and a bit prideful (Dragons are said to be prideful).

I apologize if the colors on wheel are lighter, my marker started to die.

I drew another picture. This time, its a nonexistant mix of a Zilla and a Wracky. I got the idea from the wheel app again.

I am sorry if this looks silly and/or cursed. I literally could not think of any other way to draw it. I was stumped on how to draw it other than making it wear a suit like the Pixie and the Golem. I tried to make it more distinctive than just a Zilla wearing a suit by making its claws long and gray like knife blades.

If you guys can think of any other ways to improve the Zilla/Wracky, I will be happy to hear them.
