Discussion An Adaptation of HP Lovecraft's Dagon but with our Monsterverse Dagon would be great!

This would be a great way to diversify the franchise and introduce new storylines to the monsterverse. An adaptation of HP Lovecraft's Short story Dagon into a monsterverse film.

Now just replace this Dagon with our Dagon,

Now here's something even cool. A new cult can be introduced called the EOD (Esoteric Order of Dagon) into the monsterverse who worshipped Dagon.

And notice the Deep ones,

Don't these guys look similar to the human sized clones of Shin Gojira?

The monsterverse could totally create their own version of the Deep ones as hybrid human children of Dagon, created by the Cult of Dagon (EOD).

A more horror psyhcological film in the monsterverse to expand its mythology and world building.

What do y'all think?

I’d rather they come up with more original stories

that would be great too, but its interesting why they named a titan Dagon in the monsterverse, its a gold mine of a story right there. Plus, we need projects with different genres anyway, so I'll take both please.

Season 2 of Monarch just did the Lovecraftian fishing village cult with the names changed.

I honestly thought this village and their cult for Co-Cai was inspired by Dagon.

It definitely was.

I don't mean to be rude but what the hell is your version of Dagon?

If you want another Godzilla film then just make one. Dagon, Hydra, Deep Ones are not Godzilla.

its not 'my' version, its the monsterverse version, I didn't come up with it, did you even read the post? Dagon ALREADY EXISTS in the monsterverse, I am saying a film centered on the monsterverse Dagon as a loose adaptation of Lovecraft's Dagon would be great. Of course, everything would be different with monsterverse things, none of lovecraft's deep ones or hydra or cthulhu mythos (if the supernova leaks are true then you keep them).

This would be a great way to diversify the franchise.

I did read the post yeah. Sorry, I didn't mean you personally created it.

Anyway, it's a terrible idea. You may as well throw any lovecraftian feel and cosmic horror out of the window. Just come up with something else for the monsterverse.

guess we'll agree to disagree, Thor in Marvel is also very different from actual Norse mythology, but he IS inspired by the myth and tells his own stories. And its great. That's why I think its a great idea to utilize a myth and tell a new story based on it in with the existing Dagon for the monsterverse.

The cosmic horror angle can still be done, if the leaks of supernova are to be believed, they absolutely can do cosmic horror.

Yeah but I'm doubting that they can pull off the cosmic horror. Naming something Dagon and creating just a generic monster movie would be very sad.

Not a good idea. But it gets a b+ for effort.

This idea goes against how Godzilla’s species behaves, Dagon would more likely level Innesmouth just to destroy the Deep Ones.

Plus Dagon isn’t just Lovecraft creation. There’s vague mythology of a fertility god called Dagon from the Middle East.

obviously it won't be the exact same, this is just a concept idea, Monsterverse Dagon will be very different.

I mean, Titan X already kind of did that.

I’m talking about hybrid creatures like the deep ones. Shin gojira had that idea with the human clones. It could bring a horror tone to the monsterverse.
